Effect of Pozzolanic Additive on Pore Structure of Cement Mortar

In this paper are explored the changes of pore structures of mortar with pozzolanic admixture exposed to aggressive environments, namely 5% wt. sodium sulphate solution. Influence of non-flowing sulphate solution on the test specimens were determined in dependence on the different type of cement and used minced clay brick as pozzolanic admixture. Attention is also paid to the properties of the individual components of the mortar. From the results obtained follows that the additive of minced clay bricks has positive impact on the sulphate resistance.

Silicon carbide (SiC) based fibers with continuous pore structures were synthesized by the precursor method using a polycarbosilane (PCS) and polymethylhydrosiloxane (PMHS) polymer blends. The pore formation process can be explained by hydrogen gas dissolution in the polymer melt and desaturation process of the dissolved gas during the fiber spinning. We investigated the effect of PMHS additives with different chemical and physical natures on the obtained pore structures, because PMHS decomposition process played a role of hydrogen gas source. The individual polymer melts were characterized by viscosity measurement, gas chromatograph analysis and thermogravimetric (TG) analysis in order to obtain details of pore structure control.

This research aims at measuring the service quality in public and private banking sector and identifying its relationship to customer satisfaction and behavioral intention. The study was conducted among 500 bank customers by using revised SERVQUAL instrument with 26 items. Behavioral intention of the customers was measured by using the behavioral intention battery. The researcher has used a seven point likert scaling to measure the expected and perceived service quality (performance) and the behavioral intention of the customer. The instrument was selected as the most reliable device to measure the difference-score conceptualization. It is used to evaluate service gap between expectation and perception of service quality. Modifications are made on the SERVQUAL instrument to make it specific to the Banking sector. Questions were added to the instrument like Seating space for waiting (Tangibility), Parking space in the Bank (Tangibility), Variety of products / schemes available (Tangibility), Banks sincere steps to handling Grievances of the customers (Responsiveness). The findings of the study revealed that the customer’s perception (performance) is lower than expectation of the service quality rendered by banks. Responsiveness and Assurance SQ dimensions were the most important dimensions in service quality scored less SQ gap. The study concluded that the individual service quality dimensions have a positive impact on Overall Satisfaction.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to study the differentiated impact of factors that influence the propensity to entrepreneur in a sample of people in Chile. A distinction is made between individuals that live in primary cities and secondary cities. The differentiating factors are socio‐cultural aspects (reference models – positive examples of entrepreneurs – and perception of social fear of failure) and the gender of the individual. Design/methodology/approach For the research data from the survey used in Chile by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor for the years 2010 and 2011 were used. A logit model was used to determine the differentiated impact of the analysed factors and interactions were done using the method proposed by Corneliâen and Sonderhof (2009). Findings These showed that the fact that an individual lives in a secondary city decreases his entrepreneurship probability. The positive impact that the reference models have is weaker in women. Contrary to what was expected, the negative impact of the fear of failure perception is weaker in women. Practical implications These results have the implications to suggest focused public policies and differentiations that consider the socio‐cultural, territorial (focused in cities) and gender aspects. Originality/value The research contributes by giving empirical evidence of the existence of the negative impact of living in a secondary city and of differentiated effects of socio‐cultural factors from the gender perspective.

Ordered mesoporous silica materials are of interest for a wide range of applications. In many of these, elevated temperatures are used either in the preparation of the material or during its use. Therefore, an understanding of the effect of high temperature treatments on these materials is desirable. In this work, a detailed structural study is performed on silicas with three representative pore structures: a 2-D hexagonal pore arrangement (SBA-15), a continuous 3D cubic bimodal pore structure (KIT-6), and a 3D large cage pore structure (FDU-12). Each silica is studied as prepared and after treatment at a series of temperatures between 300 and 900°C. Pore structures are imaged using Transmission Electron Microscopy. This technique is used in conjunction with Small-Angle X-ray Diffraction, gas physisorption, and29Si solid state Nuclear Magnetic Resonance. Using these techniques, the pore size distributions, the unit cell dimensions of the mesoporous structures, and the relative occupancy of the distinct chemical environments of Si within them are cross correlated for the three silicas and their evolution with treatment temperature is elucidated. The physical and chemical properties before, during, and after collapse of these structures at high temperatures are described as are the differences in behavior between the three silica structures.

ABSTRACTCalcium sulfoaluminate (CSA) cements are being developed using a novel processing method having as its objective lowering specific CO2 emissions by ∼50% relative to a Portland cement benchmark. We need to be able to measure the properties of the products. Porosity and permeability measurements help define the engineering properties but their quantification is influenced by the choice of experimental protocols. In the present study we used ordinary Portland cement (PC) paste as a benchmark and hydrated ye’elimite, which is a main component of CSA cements, to understand its pore structure. We report on the use of synchrotron-sourced radiation for µCT (Computerized Tomography) and 3D image re-construction of the internal micro-pore structure of PC and ye’elimite-gypsum pastes. As a comparison, porosity and permeability measurements were traditionally obtained using Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry (MIP). The Mori-Tanaka method and the polynomial statistical model were used to analyze the effects of different 3-D micro-pore structures on mechanical properties. The results show that e micro-pore structures differ considerably between PC and ye’elimite pastes and their bulk modulus is significantly affected by the shapes of their micro-pore structures.

<p>This study explores the factors that affect the incomes of real estate salespersons by applying hierarchical linear modeling (HLM) to investigate the incomes of real estate salespersons in Kaohsiung. A total of 510 questionnaires were distributed to large chain housing agencies, of which a total of 319 effective samples were retrieved from 54 branch stores, for an effective return rate of 62.55%. The empirical results showed that individual incomes vary significantly from store to store. About 4.8% of the variation in individual incomes was due to differences among different branch stores. The individual income of a real estate salesperson is also significantly affected by individual-level factors such as age, working hours, and working experience. The marginal impact of education level, age, working hours, and working experience on real estate salesperson income is moderated by the type of store at which the given salesperson works. In addition, a branch store’s location has a direct, significant, and positive impact on a real estate salesperson’s income.</p>

According to core data, this paper studies variation of resistivity in different pore structures and wettability conditions. The results show that with the increase of pore structure index m, the resistivity will increase significantly when the saturation is constant. Similarly, with increasing saturation index n, the resistivity will also increase even with the same saturation. With fixed m and n, the calculated formation water saturation will be very high, resulting in hydrocarbon reservoir being ignored. This variation characteristic is significant for the identification of hidden reservoir with atypical Archie formula.

Abstract. Work culture is part of the view that makes values, habits, strengths and drivers in the life of the group organization, which reflects patterns of attitudes, behavior and beliefs, ideals, opinions and actions in the work. Work culture is one of the components of human quality that is deeply embedded in national identity and is a basic benchmark in development. It was hoped that the head of the madrasah would be able to influence and mobilize the individual spirit in his institution in the form of solid cooperation in realizing a reliable work culture. A reliable work culture will have a positive impact on institutional management, such as respecting time, working as well as possible and professionally, working honestly and being of worship value, increasing work performance, building management of openness and healthy competition, eliminating collusion of nepotism and corruption, building employment opportunities together with all subordinates in developing achievements, careers and positions and applying efficient and effective ways of working. Background: Investigations on the use of waste clay brick powder in concrete have been extensively conducted, but the analysis of waste clay brick powder effects on cement paste is limited. Materials and Methods: This paper discusses the effects of waste clay brick powder on cement paste. Fragmented clay bricks were grounded in the laboratory using a ball mill and incorporated into cementitious mixes as partial replacement of Ordinary Portland Cement. Workability, consistency, setting time, density and compressive strength properties of paste mixes were investigated to better understand the impact of waste clay brick powder on the cementitious paste. Four cement replacement levels of 2.5%, 5%, 7.5% and 10% were evaluated in comparison with the control paste. The chemical and mineral compositions were evaluated using X-Ray Fluorescence and X-Ray Diffractometer, respectively. The morphology of cement and waste clay brick powder was examined using a scanning electron microscope. Results: The investigation of workability exhibited a reduction of slump attributed to the significant addition of waste clay brick powder into the cementitious mixes, and it was concluded that waste clay brick powder did not significantly influence the density of the mixes. In comparison with the control paste, increased values of consistency and setting time of cement paste containing waste clay brick powder confirmed the information available in the literature. Conclusion: Although waste clay brick powder decreased the compressive strength of cement paste, 5% partial cement replacement with waste clay brick powder was established as an optimum percentage for specimens containing waste clay brick powder following curing periods of 7 and 28 days. Findings of chemical composition, mineral composition and scanning electron microscopy of waste clay brick powder demonstrated that when finely ground, fragmented clay bricks can be used in concrete as a pozzolanic material.
