Many assistance dog providers use volunteer raisers to manage each puppy’s learning and daily experiences, which partly determines the puppy’s behavioural development. Therefore, it is important that raisers engage in recommended practices. Three common recommendations from the literature include frequent socialisation and consistent training for the puppies, and effective training for the raisers. However, what facilitates or hinders raisers’ engagement in these practices remains unclear. To understand this, we interviewed eight raisers (three men and five women) every month during their year-long puppy raising program, and pseudo-randomly selected 16 from 48 interviews for data analysis. Thematic analyses revealed several facilitating and/or hindering factors corresponding to each of the three recommended practices. Frequent socialisation was influenced by the raisers’ availability, sharing of puppy raising responsibility with others, support from their workplace, and the puppy’s behaviours (e.g., soiling indoors, jumping). Consistent training was challenged by the presence of everyday distractors, accessibility to timely advice, perceived judgement from others, and the puppy’s undesirable behaviours. Effective learning was facilitated by having information available in raisers’ preferred learning modality, opportunities for peer-learning, and willingness to seek help. Future research should examine these factors quantitatively, which will enable more robust evaluation of programs aimed at supporting puppy raisers.

There is a shortage of male elementary school teachers in the United States. Men who choose careers as elementary school teachers must be confident and ignore social barriers that keep other men from considering the profession. The current investigation seeks to understand the viewpoints of men who teach elementary school, a career predominated by women. This was the first known investigation on the topic using Q methodology. Data analysis extracted three distinct viewpoints: the Fixers, the Mentees, and the Aspirants. This study provides the results of data analysis, responds to research questions, and makes recommendations for policy. The findings of this study indicated that men who teach are proud to be role models and make a difference for students, and they believe that they are equally suitable to teach as women. Many participants seemed to be unaware of recruitment efforts in their field. The information gleaned from this study may help universities and school districts to seek new ways to attract quality male teachers.

The Objectives of this paper are to describe the realization of language styles used by male and female teacher and the reasons of the using those language styles. The subjects were the teachers of SMP Negeri Pancur batu, they were four English teachers, consits of two male teachers and two female teachers. It was qualitative explanative research designs. The researcher observed the teachers while teaching in order to get the teachers language styles taking place during their teaching in the classroom related to the theory of Tannen, who divides the way of communication into six categories; pairs a contrasting use of language by males and females, they are: status versus support, independence versus intimacy, advice versus understanding, information versus feeling, orders versus proposal and conflict versus compromise. .The results of the data analysis showed that the. The language styles of the male and female teacher were different in the way of communication. The realization of language styles by the teachers’ way of speaking  mostly occur in male teachers’ is orders which is 13 utterances (38.2%), then followed by advice which is 11 utterances (32.4%), then continued by information 6 utterences (20,6%) and then conflict 2 utterances (5,9%) and the last is status 1 utterances (2.9%). Female teachers’ way in communication was mostly realized by orders  which is 10 utterances (29.4%), then followed by feeling which is 8 utterances (23.5%), and then continued by understanding which is 7 utternces (20.6%), and then support which is 5 utterances (14.7%), and the last is proposal which is 4 utterances (11.8%). Besides, it can be seen that eventhough Tannen (1992) suggested the orders were categorized for male way’s of speaking , but based on this study, orders were found in the female teachers’ way of speaking. There were 29.4% the utterances realized by orders although that criteria is not classified to female. In fact, those way of speaking were the most used in the female teachers. According to the male and female teachers all the ways of communication are expressed to encourage the students to reach the lesson competencies well. Keywords:English Teachers, Language Styles, Way of communication,

The present study analyzed the gender-wise professional qualifications and competencies of teacher educators and subject teachers of education. The respondents were categorized into three groups in order to measure their competencies and professional qualification. These were Heads / Principals, Teacher Educators and Subject Teachers of Education and their students. Questionnaires and personal profile prorforma were used as instruments for data collection. T-test and Percentage were applied for the purpose of analysis. The data analysis states most of the male and female subject teachers of education and teachers educators do not have any professional qualification as well as competencies of the male teachers is significantly different from female teachers. Male teachers were competent and efficient as compared to female teachers. It is suggested to the male and female teachers to get professional qualifications for improving their level of qualification. Moreover, female teachers need to enhance their competencies for competing for male teachers in the field of teaching.

The purpose of this paper is to find out the meaning of spirituality as described by Catholic entrepreneurs based on their daily experiences. The data were collected through open ended interviews. Eight entrepreneurs were interviewed. Data analysis and interpretation used phenomenological approach to get the essential meaning of their experiences. The findings of the study revealed that spirituality was understood as divine power and inner-self driving force that affects the entrepreneurs’ attitude and behaviour toward their business activities. This study is limited to Catholic entrepreneurs. This research has implication to the study of entrepreneurship to offer insight that inner factors have strong influence. For researchers, this study deepens the understanding of entrepreneurs. This research contributes to the theory of entrepreneurship and spirituality since there are still very few studies on this topic.

In this paper, I draw on accounts from Japanese male learners and Filipina teachers engaged in Skype eikaiwa and explore gender concerns within this new educational sector. The data analysis shows that Filipina teachers are often positioned as gendered entities through the men’s discursive practices. This trend is similar to the constructions of white male teachers as romanticized commodities in eikaiwa schools based on Japanese women’s akogare (longing/desire) for the West. Yet I suggest that what matters in the Filipino Skype eikaiwa industry is not so much the discourse of akogare as the Japanese men’s feelings of masculinity. I conclude with an argument that given the many existing studies on Japanese male exploitation of Filipinas, the gender concerns within this industry should be discussed further in terms of the historical and economic relations between Japan and the Philippines and the long-established emotional and somatic connections between Japanese men and Filipinas.

It is well established that unique physiological information can be obtained by rapidly freezing cells in various functional states and analyzing the cell element content and distribution by electron probe x-ray microanalysis. (The other techniques of microanalysis that are amenable to imaging, such as electron energy loss spectroscopy, secondary ion mass spectroscopy, particle induced x-ray emission etc., are not addressed in this tutorial.) However, the usual processes of data acquisition are labor intensive and lengthy, requiring that x-ray counts be collected from individually selected regions of each cell in question and that data analysis be performed subsequent to data collection. A judicious combination of quantitative elemental maps and static raster probes adds not only an additional overall perception of what is occurring during a particular biological manipulation or event, but substantially increases data productivity. Recent advances in microcomputer instrumentation and software have made readily feasible the acquisition and processing of digital quantitative x-ray maps of one to several cells.

Purpose The purpose of this study was to explore the perceptions of special education practitioners (i.e., speech-language pathologists, special educators, para-educators, and other related service providers) on their role as communication partners after participation in the Social Communication and Engagement Triad (Buckley et al., 2015 ) yearlong professional learning program. Method A qualitative approach using interviews and purposeful sampling was used. A total of 22 participants who completed participation in either Year 1 or Year 2 of the program were interviewed. Participants were speech-language pathologists, special educators, para-educators, and other related service providers. Using a grounded theory approach (Glaser & Strauss, 1967 ) to data analysis, open, axial, and selective coding procedures were followed. Results Three themes emerged from the data analysis and included engagement as the goal, role as a communication partner, and importance of collaboration. Conclusions Findings supported the notion that educators see the value of an integrative approach to service delivery, supporting students' social communication and engagement across the school day but also recognizing the challenges they face in making this a reality.

The communicative performance of 4 preoperational-level adolescents, using limited speech, gestures, and communication board techniques, was examined in a two-part investigation. In Part 1, each subject participated in an academic interaction with a teacher in a therapy room. Data were transcribed and coded for communication mode, function, and role. Two subjects were found to predominantly use the speech mode, while the remaining 2 predominantly used board and one other mode. The majority of productions consisted of responses to requests, and the initiator role was infrequently occupied. These findings were similar to those reported in previous investigations conducted in classroom settings. In Part 2, another examination of the communicative performance of these subjects was conducted in spontaneous interactions involving speaking and nonspeaking peers in a therapy room. Using the same data analysis procedures, gesture and speech modes predominated for 3 of the subjects in the nonspeaking peer interactions. The remaining subject exhibited minimal interaction. No consistent pattern of mode usage was exhibited across the speaking peer interactions. In the nonspeaking peer interactions, requests predominated. In contrast, a variety of communication functions was exhibited in the speaking peer interactions. Both the initiator and the maintainer roles were occupied in the majority of interactions. Pertinent variables and clinical implications are discussed.
