Medha is a concept in Ayurveda where man has always failed to arrive at a definite conclusion. As per the ayurvedic classics, Medha is the retention power of an individual or is the unobstructed and uninterrupted perception and retention of knowledge in all the aspects of an object [1] Academic Performance of an individual is an outcome of his mental and physical potential. Recent studies show that the intellectual abilities of students have a positive association with their scholastic achievement.[2] Acharya Charaka has mentioned 4 individual drugs under Chara- koktha Medhya Rasayanas for their action on Medha [3] and Guduchi Swarasa and Yastimadhu Ksheerapaka are mentioned among them. In this study, an attempt was made to evaluate the Medhya effect of Guduchi Vati and Yastimadhu Vati. The study was a comparative clinical study with a total subject of 40, where 20 patients were administered with Guduchi Vati and the other 20 with Yastimadhu Vati. The study showed a statistically significant result where the Guduchi Vati is having similar action to that of Yastimadhu Vati on Medha (Academic Perfor- mance) in School going children. Pandu is a Pitta Pradhana Tridoshaja Vikara affecting the Rasavaha srotas causing Sapta Dhatu Kshaya and Ojokshaya1. The disease is characterized by Panduvamata and Arohana Ayasa. Karnakshweda, Agnimandya, Daurbalya, Annadwesha, Srama, Bhrama, Gathrashoola, Arohanaayasa, Aruchi, Gaurava etc. are the other symptoms commonly found in the patients of Pandu. In the Present era, Anaemia is a burning issue around the world and W.H.O Global data base 2011 reveals that, in a 120 million population, 83% people are suffering from anaemia2.Present study was conducted on 60 diagnosed patients of Panduwho were randomly allocated with 30 each in two groups. Darvyadhi Lehya was given for one group and Drakshadhi Lehya a widely used formulation in clinical practice was given for another group. The study was conducted in 60 subjects for a period of 30 days. Clinical features and haematological parameters were documented before and after the treatment. The results of the study showed that, a statistically significant difference was not seen between the effect of Darvyadi and Drakshadilehya in Pandu roga.

Nidra is considered as one among the Trayoupasthambha1 which is very essential to lead happy and healthy life. In present era because of stressful lifestyle many people suffering from one or the other psychosomatic illnesses, among that insomnia is the most common health problem which affects the functions of central nervous system and even other systems. Around 9% of general population are suffering from insomnia, around 28% of people suffering from initiation and maintenance of sleep. At present the medical management of insomnia includes different variety of benzodiazepines’ which causes various toxic effect and also drug dependency. For this one can find out the best remedies in Ayurvedic system of medicine, for the treatment of this disease. Saraswatharista2 is one of the best shamana medicine with Bramhi panchanga as main ingredient, having Rasayana effect as well as properties which can cure the diseases like Unmada, Mada, Apasmara as both Shareerika and Manasika vyadhi are inter-related6 . And Jaladhara is very safe, effective, readily available and cost effective without any side effect which mainly having aaswasahara4 and nidrajanana action hence, present clinical trial is planned to compare the therapeutic effect of Saraswatharista and Jaladhara in Nidranasha with special reference to Insomnia is undertaken.

Herbal medicine represents an alternative for treating dyslipidemia. It has been probed that aerial part of Eryngium heterophyllum, a species of medicinal plant that belongs to the family Apiaceae, reduces cholesterol by 27% in rats. On the other hand, Amphipterygium adstringens, a Mexican tree exerts a significant hypocholesterolemic effect on rats, lowering cholesterol levels by 31%. The aim of this project was to evaluate the PC-300 tea (Eryngium heterophyllum egelm + Amphipterygium adstringens) against hypertriglyceridemia. It was a non-randomized, descriptive, prospective, longitudinal, and comparative clinical study. Voluntary subjects were assigned sequentially into two treatment groups: 1) fibrate (bezafibrate) 200 mg/day, and 2) PC-300 tea, one cup half an hour before eating. Baseline samples of serum total cholesterol and triglycerides were obtained and measured again after 1 month of treatment. There were 17 patients (males: 6, females: 11) treated with the tea, with a mean age of 49 ± 15 years, and 17 patients (males: 8, females: 9) treated with bezafibrate, with a mean age of 44.7 ± 13 years. In the first group, the percentage of triglyceride reduction was 19.7% (p ≤ 0.05), while in the second group, this was 44.8% (p ≤ 0.001). We conclude that consumption of PC-300 reduces triglyceride levels an average of 20% after 1 month.

Summary: My comment is basically restricted to the situation in which less-able students find themselves and refers only to literature in German. From this point of view I am basically able to confirm Marsh's results. It must, however, be said that with less-able pupils the opposite effect can be found: Levels of self-esteem in these pupils are raised, at least temporarily, by separate instruction, academic performance however drops; combined instruction, on the other hand, leads to improved academic performance, while levels of self-esteem drop. Apparently, the positive self-image of less-able pupils who receive separate instruction does not bring about the potential enhancement of academic performance one might expect from high-ability pupils receiving separate instruction. To resolve the dilemma, it is proposed that individual progress in learning be accentuated, and that comparisons with others be dispensed with. This fosters a self-image that can in equal measure be realistic and optimistic.

The research analyzes the relationship between factors of resilience and academic performance in disabled students studying at the Technical University of Manabí. It is a correlational descriptive study conducted with a population of 88 disabled students, of which two groups were selected, one with high academic performance and the other with low performance. A questionnaire was designed and applied to determine the level of quality of life and risk factors of adolescents. Resilience was measured with the SV-RES scale created for the Latin American population.
