In modern warfare, the information component is crucial for both sides of the conflict. Donetsk and Luhansk regions have become a kind of bridgehead for testing and application in the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles of various dimensions and functional purposes, the most common of which are small reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles. Dozens of enemy vehicles are gathering information about the location of the Ukrainian military. To date, no state is ready to withstand planned attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles. Traditional air defense weapons are designed for large and long-range targets, while the modern line of drones consists of nano-, micro- and mini-devices flying at low altitudes. A comparative analysis of modern means of counteracting unmanned aerial vehicles and conclusions about the possibility of their use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The newest means of destruction of unmanned aerial vehicles of the leading countries of the world are considered. The issue of the possibility of blocking the work of enemy drones is covered in zones (areas) of hostilities. Ways to increase the effectiveness of small - scale unmanned aerial vehicles are proposed. Priorities in the implementation of programs for the development of modern domestic means of destruction of unmanned aerial vehicles can be considered the use of means of interception or destruction by electronic countermeasures. The relevance of the study lies in the analysis of the main available methods of control with unmanned aerial vehicles, development of perspective approaches and acquaintance with modern achievements and directions of development of means of struggle against drones applied by the enemy.

Wildfires represent a significant natural risk causing economic losses, human death and environmental damage. In recent years, the world has seen an increase in fire intensity and frequency. Research has been conducted towards the development of dedicated solutions for wildland fire assistance and fighting. Systems were proposed for the remote detection and tracking of fires. These systems have shown improvements in the area of efficient data collection and fire characterization within small-scale environments. However, wildland fires cover large areas making some of the proposed ground-based systems unsuitable for optimal coverage. To tackle this limitation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and unmanned aerial systems (UAS) were proposed. UAVs have proven to be useful due to their maneuverability, allowing for the implementation of remote sensing, allocation strategies and task planning. They can provide a low-cost alternative for the prevention, detection and real-time support of firefighting. In this paper, previous works related to the use of UAV in wildland fires are reviewed. Onboard sensor instruments, fire perception algorithms and coordination strategies are considered. In addition, some of the recent frameworks proposing the use of both aerial vehicles and unmanned ground vehicles (UGV) for a more efficient wildland firefighting strategy at a larger scale are presented.

This work is to optimize perimeter surveillance and explore the distribution of ground bases for unmanned aerial vehicles along the Jordanian border and optimize the set of technologies for each aerial vehicle. This model is part of ongoing research on perimeter security systems based on unmanned aerial vehicles. The suggested models give an initial insight about selecting technologies carried by unmanned aerial vehicles based on their priority; it runs for a small scale system that can be expanded, the initial results show the need for at least four ground bases along the length of the border, and a selected set of various technologies for each vehicle.

A strong interest in highly-efficient, small-scale propeller configurations can be recognized, especially due to the currently growing number of and usage possibilities for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Although a variety of different propulsion concepts already exist on the market or are discussed in the literature, there is still a demand for a systematic investigation to compare such configurations, in particular, small-scale propellers with a fixed pitch, which are analyzed in this work. Therefore, different configurations of small-scale propellers with a fixed pitch are analyzed in this paper. They were operated as isolated single propellers and as ducted propellers in a cylindrical wing. Furthermore, due to their flight envelope, UAVs are likely to operate at highly inclined inflow conditions and even under reverse inflow. These non-axial inflow conditions have a major influence on the flow field around a propeller. In order to investigate this influence, all analyses were performed at a range of inflow angles in relation to the propeller axis from αdisc=0° to 180°.

The article presents the analysis of unmanned aerial vehicles that were created during the conduct of the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. The article is based on the description of the features of the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in eastern Ukraine. The article also discusses the advantages of using unmanned aerial vehicles when performing combat missions. The leading concepts of creating unmanned aerial vehicles and a set of factors that determine the success of providing unmanned aerial vehicles with the Armed Forces of Ukraine are defined. The experience of using and providing unmanned aerial vehicles and unmanned aviation complexes during anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine was generalized. Ways to improve the traditional methods of creating unmanned aerial vehicles and identify for which tasks unmanned aerial vehicles were used during the anti-terrorist operation. The article describes the types of unmanned aerial complexes used in the area of anti-terrorist operation by Ukrainian military, special forces and guards. As a result of the research the peculiarities of determining operational-tactical requirements for unmanned aerial vehicles for their effective use in the east of Ukraine are revealed. The rational ways of creation of unmanned aerial vehicles for their use in the interests of combat use are offered. The starting point for the analysis was some recent publications on the creation and use of drones for military purposes and guidance documents. The source materials were checked for compliance with the criteria set out in the guidance documents.

Abstract Unmanned aerial vehicles, drones and other similar equipment are having a boom nowadays. Moreover, the usage of those modern technologies is also significant within armies. Unmanned aerial vehicles are extensively use within most of the military activities all over the world mainly on the battalion level and above. This paper is focused to discuss the usage of this technology on tactical level, particularly by squad and squad size units. The paper deals mainly with influence of unmanned aerial vehicles on troops leading procedure. The main methods of this paper are outcomes from the realized experiment. It shows on examples specific impact on all steps of the troops leading procedure. The experiment revealed interesting data and some possible conclusion were made. The primarily target of this paper is experience military personnel dealing with this topic. The paper should open broad discussion focused on all steps of troops leading procedure and outline the possible way of troops leading procedure update. Unmanned aerial vehicles, drones and other modern technology providing almost online information to the squad leader could significantly influence all steps of the troop leading procedure, safe preparation time as well as lives of the troops.

Abstract The text deals with the development and methods of use of Drones or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in contemporary conflicts or special operations. The contribution tries to present the main advantages of these vehicles as being the main reasons for their current use in armed forces of state as well as non-state actors and their dynamic proliferation in global space in past years. We can observe a new trend in the armed conflict in the last two decades - use of advanced systems of unmanned vehicles in such a range that many military and academic experts talk about a new wave of revolutionary changes in the military affairs. This wave, or we could even talk about militarytechnological breakthrough should lead to imminent use of these systems in contemporary as well as future conflicts which would result in the partial or complex robotization of the battlefield. Specific attention is dedicated to controversies tied to the use of Drones/Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in socalled Drone Warfare and current discussion in the context of cultural or societal dimension of their use and perspectives for further development.

The end of the world bipolar division has reduced the likelihood of a threat of an atomic conflict, but at the same time it has released dormant conflicts. From that time, the phenomena that are not new, but their frequency, intensity, impact on human society have caused a change in the way they are perceived. In this context it is clear, that to ensure the sovereignty of the European airspace and specifically the one of the Slovak Republic, as a member of NATO, is the first priority task of the Air Force missions. To accomplish this, there will be significantly increased the requirements for processes automatization within Air C2 systems, in order to keep the necessary level of interoperability and to utilize and exploit both combat and reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles.


The development of technologies for the development and use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) for military purposes is especially notable. Modern UAV are used as one of the most important means increasing combat capabilities of the Armed Forces. Their combat use is desirable when performing tasks characterized by a long flight duration, increased danger and complexity. The use of UAV to ensure the safety of civilian objects and critical infrastructure facilities is also highlighted, forcing more attention to be paid to new methods of monitoring and monitoring the earth's surface. The analysis showed that there are potential threats of the emergence news power electromagnetic means of influence on unmanned aerial vehicles using ultrashort electromagnetic pulses. The article analyzes the characteristics of existing means generating ultrashort electromagnetic pulses and the trivial characteristics of aviation data exchange protocols. The necessity of testing telecommunication control systems for unmanned aerial vehicles based on the influence of ultrashort electromagnetic pulses is shown, and the experimental method is the most promising method for assessing their impact.

In the autumn of 2020, during the Six-Week War in Nagorno-Karabakh, the main attention of most Russian and Western experts was focused on the topic of gaining air supremacy achieved by Azerbaijan with the help of Israeli and Turkish-made unmanned aerial vehicles. The author of the article does not dispute the high effectiveness of the combat use of the Bayraktar TB 2. He seeks to draw attention to other reasons for the defeat of the Armenian armed forces. First of all, they were not ready for mobilization deployment. The degradation of the mobilization apparatus and the general inattention of the Armenian leadership to the problem of strategic concentration is difficult to explain only by the systematic underfunding of the army caused by economic difficulties. In recent years, Armenian generals and politicians have been recklessly resting on the laurels of the last victory and did not believe in the seriousness of Azerbaijan’s intentions to retake Nagorno-Karabakh.

The disordered urban growth that may favour the emergence of the Aedes aegypti mosquito in cities is a problem of increasing magnitude in middle- and high-income countries in the tropical part of the world. Currently, the World Health Organization (WHO) considers the control and elimination of Ae. aegypti a world-wide high priority as it is the main vector of many rapidly spreading viral diseases, dengue in particular. A major difficulty in controlling the proliferation of this vector is associated with identification of the breeding sites. The use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) can be an efficient alternative to manual search because of high mobility and the ability to overcome physical obstacles, particularly in urban areas where it can offer close-up images of potential breeding sites that are difficult to reach. The objective of this study was to find a way to select the most suitable UAV for the identification of Ae. aegypti habitats by providing images of potential mosquito breeding sites. This can be accomplished by a Multiple-Criteria Decision Method (MCDM) based on an Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) for the evaluation of weights of the criteria used for characterizing UAVs. The alternatives were analyzed and ranked using the Fuzzy Set Theory (FST) merged with the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). The methodology is explained and discussed with respect to identification and selection of the most appropriate UAV for aerial mapping of Aedes breeding sites.
