The purpose of this paper to introduce textography as a useful method for English for academic purposes (EAP) and learning development (LD) practitioners to fill gaps in subject-specific knowledge and understanding. Textography is a research method that may be new to many practitioners. Textography combines textual analysis, usually associated with EAP, and ethnographic methods, often associated with LD, to investigate contexts, texts and practices. EAP and LD practitioners can use textography with accessible texts as initial needs analysis before reviewing literature or as a more in-depth, long-term research tool.

Going to the advanced countries for higher education has been in vogue for long. There is a considerable rise in the number of international students in USA universities. This paper explores how Shamsie portrays interaction among international students. It is delimited to the analysis of Shamsies two novels: Salt and Saffron, and Kartoghraphy applying textual analysis as a research method. The insight gained through this research about friendship among international students is in keeping with the findings of the psychological research about three predictable patterns of friendship: friendship with the students of ones own country, friendship with other foreign students and friendship with students of the host country. In Kartoghraphy all three patterns of friendship are found while in Salt and Saffron only a strong bond of friendship between a Pakistani international student and her American counterpart is portrayed. Shamsie presents easy assimilation of Pakistani diaspora students.

This can be used as study or learning material in seeing some of the shortcomings or gaps that the immigration technology information system in Indonesia has. The results of the study carried out with this qualitative research method have explained that the immigration information technology system in TPI Indonesia still has several gaps or shortcomings when compared to the existing systems in several other countries. The long-term goal of this research is to develop innovative and flexible learning models based on Smart Classroom. System design in this study was developed to realize a balance between virtual teaching (virtual class) and face-to-face (physical class) that takes place at the same time using the Live Video Webcasting service. The research method uses a quantitative approach and the type of research is R & D adopting the Thiagarajan 4D development model. This research produces a Smart Classroom system based on Streaming Webcast through several stages, namely: (1) System Design, (2) System Creation, (3) System Testing. This developed system allows interaction in learning in the physical class as well as teaching in a virtual class remotely. Keywords: Revolusi Industri 4.0, Blended Learning, Smart Classroom, Live Video Webcasting.

The long term aim of this research is to develop a framework for holistic ideation. Towards that goal, we are investigating the components of ideation (both logical and intuitive), characterization of ideation states, ideation blocks and strategies used to overcome such blocks. One of the major contributions of this research is the method by which the experiential and the intuitive ideation methods are interlaced together, to support both creativity and functional quality. Another important part of the framework is the identification of creativity blocks and investigation of matching ideation strategies most likely to facilitate progress. This framework will also be used as a research tool to collect large amount of data from designers about their choice of ideation strategies used, and their effectiveness.

VISOLE (Virtual Interactive Student-Oriented Learning Environment) is a constructivist pedagogical approach to empower computer game-based learning. This approach encompasses the creation of a near real-life online interactive world modeled upon a set of multi-disciplinary domains, in which each student plays a role in this “virtual world” and shapes its development. All missions, tasks and problems therein are generative and open-ended with neither prescribed strategies nor solutions. With sophisticated multi-player simulation contexts and teacher facilitation (scaffolding and debriefing), VISOLE provides opportunities for students to acquire both subject-specific knowledge and problem-solving skills through their near real-life gaming experience. This chapter aims to delineate the theoretical foundation and pedagogical implementation of VISOLE. Apart from that, the authors also introduce their game-pedagogy co-design strategy adopted in developing the first VISOLE instance—FARMTASIA.
