This research is a quantitative study using an observational study with a cross-sectional study design on the influence of organizational climate, Public Service Motivation and nurse performance from 182 samples of nurse respondents at Haji Hospital, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. The aim is to identify the current organizational climate of the Haji Hospital, increase awareness of the mission of the Haji Hospital and identify motivational factors. The results showed that the influence of organizational climate on nurse performance was (0.000). The results showed that there was an effect of Public Service Motivation on Nurse Performance of (0.000). The results showed that the organizational climate variable had the most influence on the performance of nurses at the Haji Hospital, South Sulawesi Province. It is recommended to the management of the Hajj Hospital to improve teamwork by immediately resolving conflicts such as achieving the goals set by the Hajj Hospital Management. Hajj Hospital management seems to have to include flexibility; for example, team convenience might come with more flexible policies such as conducting tutoring and training via online video. It is recommended that after watching the video, nurses then write solutions to resolve conflicts in the organizational climate. Their papers will be reviewed and given written instructions by the leadership to nurses. Following the group discussion and later each nurse presented their views. The Hajj Hospital management provides appropriate incentives and praise for the successful performance of nurses.

Abstract Introduction The COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause significant disruption to the working lives, training, and career development for doctors in training. We sought to identify the impact this has had on colleagues and if these issues were in existence before the pandemic. Method This was a cross sectional study, with primary data collection using a web-based survey carried out. Trainees in all surgical specialities were invited to participate. The questionnaire was divided into 4 sections which included questions on individual perception of training experiences and support from Clinical/ Educational Supervisors (CS/ES) preceding and since the onset of the pandemic (Nov 2019-Feb 2020 vs March 2020- June 2020). Results In total, 36 trainees responded. Those reporting adequate support from relevant supervisors fell across the following domains: education and training (-39%), career support (-52%), overall support (-20%). Adequate support from hospital management fell from 42% pre-pandemic to 22% after. Trainees felt less valued, ranked morale lower and felt less integrated into a team since the onset of the pandemic. 39% said their consultants had no understanding of the issues they faced at work. Conclusions This study highlights relevant existing issues including supervision, training, workload, and support that were amplified following the onset of this pandemic. It does also highlight the discrepancy in the understanding of trainees’ role and their workload by supervisors and hospital management. Further studies are required to better understand and address these issues. The importance of representation in organisational decision-making in-service design can help improve workforce and training experience.

Abstract Background The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in dynamic changes to healthcare delivery. Surgery as a specialty has been significantly affected and with that the delivery of surgical training. Method This national, collaborative, cross sectional study comprising 13 surgical trainee associations distributed a pan surgical specialty survey on the COVID-19 impact on surgical training over a 4-week period (11th May - 8th June 2020). The survey was voluntary and open to medical students and surgical trainees of all specialties and training grades. All aspects of training were qualitatively assessed. This study was reported according to STROBE guidelines. Results 810 completed responses were analysed. (M401: F 390) with representation from all deaneries and training grades. 41% of respondents (n = 301) were redeployed with 74% (n = 223) redeployed > 4 weeks. Complete loss of training was reported in elective operating (69.5% n = 474), outpatient activity (67.3%, n = 457), Elective endoscopy (69.5% n = 246) with > 50% reduction in training time reported in emergency operating (48%, n = 326) and completion of work-based assessments (WBA) (46%, n = 309). 81% (n = 551) reported course cancellations and departmental and regional teaching programmes were cancelled without rescheduling in 58% and 60% of cases respectively. A perceived lack of Elective operative exposure and completions of WBA’s were the primary reported factor affecting potential training progression. Overall, > 50% of trainees (n = 377) felt they would not meet the competencies required for that training period. Conclusion This study has demonstrated a perceived negative impact on numerous aspects of surgical training affecting all training specialties and grades.

Introduction: Temporomandibular Disorders (TMDs) accounts for common Orofacial Pain (OFP) arising from musculoskeletal origins, affecting almost 80% of the overall population. The multifactorial nature of the disease makes it difficult to diagnose and treat and is challenging to a considerable number of General Dental Practitioners (GDPs). They’re increasingly approached by patients for advice on TMD, but little is understood about how this disorder is addressed with in primary health care. Aim: To assess the awareness and knowledge regarding management of TMDs among GDPs in Central India. Materials and Methods: The cross-sectional study was conducted at Central India, Nagpur, Maharashtra, India from 20th June 2020 to 12th December 2020, including 200 general dental practitioners, who were registered under the Dental Council of India. A questionnaire consisting of 17 questions with reference to TMDs was designed and the questionnaire was circulated through a web designed program. The responses were collected, and data were analysed descriptively using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) statistics for windows version 24.0. Results: The mean age of the participants in the study was 24.80±1.63 years. Predominantly, participants were 164 females (82%). Among all the participants, about 181 (90.50%) of GDP’s were practicing Dentistry. The study findings suggest that the overall general practicing dentists encounter TMD cases and 162 (81%) of GDP’s treat patient at their clinic. A 76% of GDPs acknowledged the causative factor for TMD to be multifactorial and physical examination (88.50%) as the diagnostic tool. Most of the general practitioners around 126 (63%) preferred referring the patient to the specialist, maxillofacial surgeon. Among the practitioners who were confident in treating TMD, occlusal splint was the treatment of choice for 198 (96%) of the GDPs. Conclusion: Many GDPs lack standard protocol knowledge, felt insecure in TMD diagnosis, therapy decisions and treatment. There is a requirement for better quality evidence on which TMD diagnosis and treatment, including the event of a valid, reproducible patient-centered outcome measure to enable dental practitioners to feel confident in managing TMD. It is essential to train GDPs to identify individuals with TMDs through professional courses and training. It would be highly beneficial to educate the undergraduates regarding the diagnosis of TMDs in their curriculum.

Abstract Objective: To determine perception of medical students about learning from integrated simulated clinical skills sessions in Respiration and Circulation module of Year 1 undergraduate medical curriculum at Aga Khan University. Subjects & Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted at the Centre for Innovation in Medical Education, Aga Khan University (AKU) from July 2018 to February 2019. Integrated clinical skills session involves use of a combination of live simulated patient and mechanical simulator to teach clinical skills.  These sessions were conducted in Respiration and Circulation Module of MBBS Year I curriculum after which quantitative data was collected by a questionnaire that assessed usefulness of integrated clinical skills teaching method and confidence gained by students. The responses acquired were assessed on a Likert scale ranging from 1-5, (strongly agree -strongly disagree).  Descriptive analysis was performed. A focused group discussion (FGD) with students and an in-depth interview with a facilitator conducting the clinical skills sessions was arranged. Simple verbatim transcription of FGD recordings and thematic analyses was executed. Results: Quantitative analysis showed that more than 90% of the students believed integrated sessions were effective in acquiring the learning objectives and found them enjoyable and motivating. 80% expressed confidence that they had accomplished learning objectives and felt they have learned practical clinical skills. Qualitative analysis revealed that these sessions enhanced understanding of subject matter and student engagement during sessions. Conclusion: Integrated clinical skills sessions improved student interest, engagement and promoted student confidence. It should be implemented in undergraduate medical teaching curriculum. Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine public service motivation (PSM) and the connection with collaborative attitudes among a sample of homeland security actors representing the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Design/methodology/approach – This study examines relationships between measures of PSM and collaboration using original survey data and hierarchical multiple regression. Findings – Findings reveal strong positive relationships between PSM measures and attitudes toward collaboration at the individual and organizational level. Research limitations/implications – Survey results are cross-sectional and are from respondents participating in a single state's homeland security summit. Practical implications – It is expected that results can be used to enhance collaboration at the individual and organizational levels. At the organizational level, results can be used for matching individuals with collaborative opportunities. At the individual level, results can be used for enhanced self-reflection and effectiveness purposes. Originality/value – This study provides insights on the relationship between PSM measures and collaborative attitudes. The research contributes to the body of scholarly work connecting PSM and correlates of interest.

Background Housemaids are the most vulnerable group to sexual violence due to their working condition, isolation and school arrangements. Despite the ubiquity of sexual violence among the domestic work sector, particularly among housemaids, this area of research continues to be neglected. This study was aimed at examining the prevalence and factors pertaining to sexual violence among housemaids attending night school program in urban setups of Gedeo zone, Southern Ethiopia. Method A school based quantitative cross sectional study was conducted among 394 housemaids attending night schools in the urban setups of Gedeo Zone from April to May 2019. After stratifying of students using class grade, SRS technique was used to choose study subjects from each stratum. Quantitative data was collected using face to face interview and qualitative was collected using focus group discussion, in-depth interview and key informant interview. The data was entered and analyzed by SPSS version 20. Binary logistic regression was fitted to determine the association of each independent variable with the dependent variable. Result Based on the finding, the prevalence of sexual violence was 60.2%. The odds of experiencing sexual violence through working life-time as housemaid was higher for those who had migrated from rural to urban for work [AOR = 1.97: 95% CI, (1.07,3.63)], had less than 5 years of experience as housemaid [AOR = 3.10: 95% CI, (1.60, 6.00)], were in the age group of 15–19 [AOR = 3.75:95% CI (1.88, 7.46), ever used alcohol [AOR = 6.77: 95% CI, (2.65,17.33)] and whose fathers lacked formal education [AOR = 2.75:95%CI (1.24,6.08)]. On the other hand, unmarried /housemaids having no regular sexual partner were less likely to face sexual violence [AOR. = 0.28: 95% CI, (0.13, 0.57)]. Conclusion The level of sexual violence was found to be high among housemaids attending night schools in in this study. Housemaids from rural area, those newly starting the work, younger housemaids, and those who were married were more likely to be victims of sexual violence.

Background: WHO Guidelines recommends ‘‘My five moments for hand hygiene” for prevention of HCAI. Objective: Toassess the knowledge and practices of medical students about HCAI and hand hygiene. Setting: Lahore Medical & Dental College(LMDC), Lahore. Period: Four weeks, in January and February, 2012. Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted usingWHO’s “Hand Hygiene Knowledge Questionnaire”, among MBBS students from 3rd to final years, 2012. Data was entered and cleaned inSPSS 19 and presented in tables and graphs. Descriptive statistics was used in the forms of numbers and percentages. Results: Among227 respondents, 63% were female, 67% were 20 to 22 years old, 38% were from 3rd year, 40% from 4th year and 22% from final year,61% never received hand hygiene training and 67% never used hand rubs. Few students named unclean hands as main route (42%) andsource of HCAI (21%). Hand hygiene was preferred before touching patients (76%) and after body fluid exposure (70%). It was perceivedto be rapid (63%), effective (66%), cause of skin dryness (57%) and it was supposed to be used concomitantly with hand washing (74%),before abdomen palpation (48%), giving injection (31%), after removing gloves (22%) and making patient’s bed (31%). Damaged skin(92%), artificial fingernails (78%) and jewelry (53%) were perceived to increase hand contamination. Conclusions: There were seriousgaps in knowledge of proper hand cleaning techniques and their importance in prevention of health HCAI. Hand hygiene, must be part ofcurriculum and training of all health care providers.

It appears that up until now, no comprehensive tool has been developed to assess medical students’ attitudes toward the different dimensions of professionalism. The present study aimed to develop a comprehensive quantitative tool to evaluate medical students’ attitudes toward professionalism. This study consisted of two phases: The first phase was item generation and questionnaire design based on literature review and a qualitative survey. The qualitative data were extracted from 49 semi-structured individual interviews and one focus group discussion. In the second phase, the questionnaire was developed and its face, content, and structure validity and reliability were evaluated. To measure the construct validity of the questionnaire, a cross-sectional study was conducted on 354 medical students at different academic levels at Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. The final questionnaire was loaded on five factors. The factors accounted for 43.5% of the total variance. Moreover, Cronbach's alpha was 0.84 for the total scale, and the interclass correlation coefficient was 0.77 for the test-retest reliability. The 17-item questionnaire measuring medical students’ professional attitude had acceptable validity and reliability and can be adopted in other studies on physicians’ and medical students’ professional attitudes.
