This study aimed at investigating the effects of teachers’ personal and professional demographic characteristics on students’ academic performance in English. To achieve this aim, the researcher used a sample of 37 English secondary teachers and 400 students in the District of Plaridel, Schools Division Office of Bulacan during the academic year 2018-2019. The researcher used the descriptive-correlational method of research, which used a researcher-made questionnaire as the primary data gathering technique. The results of the regression analysis show that the eight (8) variables of the personal demographic characteristics and the four (4) variables of the professional demographic characteristics affect students’ academic performance in English to a various extent as shown by the non-zero coefficients. Results of the analysis of variance of the regression of personal and professional demographic characteristics on students’ academic performance revealed an Fvalue of .955 with a p-value of .490 and an F-value of 1.197 with a p-value of .331. Since the associated probability of the F-value is higher than alpha (0.05), the null hypothesis has to be sustained. This means that all variables of the personal and professional demographic characteristics do not exert significant effects on students’ academic performance in English. Conclusions were drawn and recommendations were offered.

This study aimed at investigating the effects of students' study habits on their academic performance in professional and general education subjects. To attain this aim, the researcher used a sample of thirty-two (32) students from the Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology program under the College of Allied Medical Sciences for the academic year 2019–2020 of a university in Bulacan. The researcher used the descriptive-correlational method of research, which utilized a standardized questionnaire as the primary data gathering technique. Results of the regression analysis indicate that all eight (8) variables of study habits are correlated with academic performance (professional subjects and general education subjects) of the students to a varying extent, as shown by the non-zero B coefficients. The results of the analysis of variance of the regression of study habits on the academic performance of the students revealed an F ratio of 0.939 and 0.900 with an associate probability equal to 0.505 and 0.533, respectively. Since the p-values are greater than alpha, the null hypothesis (Ho) cannot be rejected. It may be safely concluded that the study habits of the students did not produce significant combined effects on the academic performance of the students. Conclusions were drawn, and recommendations were offered.

Background: Conservative treatment is the first-line approach for Müller-Weiss disease (MWD). However, factors associated with the failure of conservative treatment have never been reported. Our objectives were to compare the differences in demographic and radiographic parameters between “successful” and “failure” conservative treatment in patients with MWD and identify descriptive factors associated with failure conservative treatment. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 68 patients with MWD divided into 29 “failure” and 39 “successful” conservative treatment groups. Demographic characteristics, Foot and Ankle Outcome Score (FAOS), visual analog scale (VAS) scores for pain and walking disability, and radiographic parameters such as calcaneal pitch, lateral Meary, anteroposterior (AP) Meary angle, and talonavicular-naviculocuneiform arthritis were compared. Logistic regression analysis was performed to identify descriptive factors of failure conservative treatment. A P value <.05 was considered a statistically significant difference. Results: We found more severe VAS pain and walking disability scores and FAOS for the pain, activities of daily living, and quality of life subscales in the failure group ( P < .05). Regression analysis demonstrated 2 significant descriptive factors associated with failure conservative treatment: abducted AP Meary angle >13.0 degrees and radiographic talonavicular arthritis. No demographic characteristics were found to be associated with failure conservative treatment. Conclusion: Midfoot abduction (AP Meary angle, >13 degrees) and radiographic talonavicular arthritis were factors associated with failure conservative treatment in MWD and should be determined concurrently with the clinical severity. Classification systems for MWD should include these factors. Level of evidence: Level III, retrospective comparative study.

Primary dysmenorrhea is the most common type of menstrual  pain,  which  is  experienced  by  more  than  50%  of  women,  so  effective prevention with minimal side effects is needed, such as improvement in exercise habits. This study aims to  determine the relationship between exercise habits with primary dysmenorrhea in female students of the Faculty of Medicine Unud academic year 2017. The type of research used is observational analytic with a cross sectional approach. The research subjects were 96 students from the Faculty of Medicine Unud academic year 2017. The research data were primary data in the form of questionnaires. Of  the  96  samples  examined,  most  of  the  students  experienced  primary dysmenorrhea with a proportion of primary dysmenorrhea is 86.5% and respondent with routine exercise habits less than respondent whose exercise habits were not routine with a proportion of 12.5% and 87.5% each. Students with regular exercise habits found a higher proportion of primary dysmenorrhea, 75% compared to 25% without primary dysmenorrhea. Based on the results of the chi-square test showed that there was no significant relationship between exercise habits with primary dysmenorrhea in Pre-Clinical Students of Medical Education Program Faculty of Medicine Udayana University Academic Year 2017 with p-value = 0.215.
