Two trips have encouraged to prepare this methodological article, having provided not only new knowledge but also contradictory ideas about the environments used for education. One trip was to British educational training and technology exhibition Bett-2019, the other – to Reggio Emilia, where everyone was introduced to the unique Loris Malaguzzi education method. Holding an opinion “unique is what is simple”, it was decided to use proper objects for education right here, in the kindergarten / primary school yard and to generate the ideas how to use them for education. The research object is a pine-tree and a fir-tree as a teaching/learning device in the kindergarten and in the primary school: what, how and why. The aims: 1) to look through the preschool age children achievement description (2014) and a standardised world cognition programme (2015) in order one could tell, what achievements the children could develop if they explored a pine-tree and a fir-tree, growing in the kindergarten / primary school yard; 2) to provide childhood teachers with the knowledge about the mentioned trees and to share the ideas, how one could use a pine tree and a fir tree for children education in childhood, what activities, what spheres or school subjects to integrate. In the article, methodological advice is given illustrated with lots of pictures. Key words: childhood pedagogy, tree cognition, outdoor education.

The article considers the novice lecturers’ purposeful pedagogical training at the school of pedagogical skills as a component of the structure of the technology for improving pedagogical skills. The topicality of the problem under research lies in the implementation of the competent specialist’s training at the educational institution in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. The success of the educational training is possible only due to the teacher’s self-development. Our research is targeted at the defining of the formed self-development system among the novice lecturers. In the process of the experimental study, two groups of novice lecturers with different levels of the formed self-development system are identified. As a result of the research, the reasons for the unformed system of self-development have been revealed: - the lack of the subject’s efforts related to the activity; - doubts about the value of his or her own personality; - the insufficient of self-acceptance as a personality. In the described research the following methods are applied: a theoretical analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature; empirical research methods: the test «Research of self-attitude» by V.V. Stolin, S.R. Panteleev, aimed at representing the individual about the meaning of «I»; a test to determine the level of self-development, aimed at the identifying the subject’s ability to self-development; statistical method for processing research results. The practical significance of the work lies in the fact that within the framework of self-development, the attitude of the individual to his or her “I” among teachers who came from field offices of MIA of Russia to start educational activity has been studied.

Background: Monitoring of physical activity within the educational institution is of great importance, primarily because of the orientation and content implemented in the daycare. This research aimed to examine the number of steps children took during their stay in daycare with regards to age, gender and the frequency of going out. Methods: The research was conducted in four daycares in the urban environment of Novi Sad (Republic of Serbia), where 231 children, aged 5 to 7, were monitored (129 boys and 102 girls). Data on the number of steps were obtained using the pedometers. Results: The result of the univariate analysis of the variance test confirmed a statistically significant difference in the number of steps in relation to the age of children (p = 0.04). Boys were more active than girls in both age groups (p = 0.001). Children who were going to the daycare yard three to five times a week took drastically more steps than children who went up to twice a week (p = 0.001). Conclusion: The results of the current study show that age, gender, and time spent outdoors are significant determinants of physical activity in preschool age. Therefore, interventions regarding physical activity should be made during early childhood in order to promote health and prevent disease.
