Lifestyle diseases are the serious threat among adults. Most of the people in India aresuffering from more than one form of diseases mainly type II diabetes mellitus,hypertension, obesity, constipation etc. To combat this, one of the foremost ways is totake proper food at apparent time in adequate amount. For the study, 40 subjects (21male and 19 female) above 45 years were selected from Pusa block or university campuson the basis of occurrence of lifestyle diseases. Proper schedule was prepared consistingquestionnaire related to their general information, food habits, anthropometric details,physiological and biochemical parameters. Information collected through personal interview.Dietary intake of both the subjects was recorded by using 24 h dietary recall method for 2consecutive days. However, observed value of dietary nutrient (energy, protein, total fat,carbohydrates and sodium) intake were more than the recommended because ofoverconsumption. Therefore, only good nutrition and healthy lifestyle that is properbalanced diet, physical exercise, adequate sleep, reduced stress, well-adjusted biologicalclock, avoidance of fast and processed foods etc. will be followed by people regularlywhich helps to defeat the lifestyle consequences.

Consumer lifestyle and health are relevant factors to understanding consumption preferences. In the last few decades the number of lifestyle diseases has dramatically increased. The main cause for these diseases is the change in lifestyle; including a lack of attention to physical activity and good nutrition. Health and lifestyle are important factors by purchase decision process. In accordance with these, I examine the consumer behaviour toward soft drinks with special regards to healthy lifestyle and the state of health. My examinations can be considered mainly as aqualitative research, which can serve as a basis for further analyses and research, however, the conclusions and experience gained from it are worthy of consideration. I differentiated five soft drink categories: ice tea, carbonated soft drinks, fruit juices, mineral waters, sport and energy drinks and studied the consumer behaviour toward them. The study focuses on the consumption of these and the factors influencing their purchase with special regards to lifestyle.

AbstractThe purpose of this paper is to reveal how the quality of education in this Islamic boarding school is, particularly related to education facilities, curriculum and strategies of education quality improve­ments. This study used the qualitative method. Findings of this study are: first, education infrastructure and facilities are relatively complete and adequate, which are supported by the atmosphere of the Islamic boarding school that is full of simplicity and modesty by habituation in implementing clean and healthy lifestyle. Second, the tafaqquh fi-al din (understanding of religion)-based curriculum compiled by the Islamic boarding school occupies the same degree (equal) to the curriculum prepared by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, so that both tafaqquh fi-al din (understanding of religion) studies and general studi­es have high electability, which is able to increase the quality of education and also generates interest and motivation of the people (parents) to put their children to the Islamic boarding school. Third, education in the Islamic boarding school has a strong independency because it is supported by substantial financial resources.AbstrakTujuan tulisan ini untuk mengungkapkan bagaimana mutu pendidikan di pondok pesantren ini, khususnya berkaitan dengan sarana pendidikan, kurikulum dan sterategi peningkatan mutu pendidik­an. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Hasil temuan studi ini adalah: Pertama, sarana dan fasilitas pendidikan relatif lengkap dan memadai, ini didukung oleh suasana kehidupan pondok pesan­tren yang penuh kesederhanaan dan kebersahajaan dengan pembiasaan menerapkan pola hidup bersih dan sehat. Kedua, kurikulum yang berbasis tafaqquh fi-al din yang disusun oleh pondok pesantren ini menempati derajat yang sama (equal) dengan kurikulum yang disusun Kementerian Agama, sehinga baik kajian tafaqquh fi al-din maupun pelajaran umum memiliki electabilitas yang tinggi, hal ini mampu meningkatkan mutu pendidikan dan sekaligus membangkitkan animo dan motivasi masyarakat (orangtua) untuk memasukkan anaknya ke pesantren ini. Ketiga, penyelenggaraan pendidikan di pon­dok pesantren ini memiliki kemandirian yang kuat, karena didukung oleh sumber dana yang besar.

Background: Economic development and vast changes in food habits have accelerated the consumption of junk foods which are the leading causes of several disorders that turns majority of the people to use various herbal formulations or drugs for preventing various lifestyle diseases. Nutraceuticals are the borderline apparatus between nutrients and drugs that provides supplementation of particular nutrient with favorable health effect. Objective: Various nutraceutical compounds like vitamins, spices, polyphenols, prebiotics and probiotics in the form of powders, tablets, capsules are currently marketed globally. Among them previous literatures have reported that polyphenols are the most promising compounds that have been proven to treat various chronic diseases like cancer, hypertension, diabetes mellitus (DM), osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, dyslipidemia, multiple sclerosis, congenital anomalies, Alzheimer’s disease, etc. It is warranted to discuss about the benefits of nanoformulations of nutraceuticals. Methods: We have searched PubMed using the keywords nutraceuticals, nanoformulations, therapeutic approaches, bionanotechnology, and therapeutics. The relevant papers and classical papers in this field were selected to write this review. Results and Discussion: The different classifications of nutraceuticals were elaborately described in this review. The comparison between the different categories of nutraceuticals with their nanoformulated forms was done explaining the benefits of nanoformulations regarding stability, bioavailability, enhanced antioxidant properties etc. A glimpse on the drawbacks of nanoformulations were also included. Conclusion: The current review highlights an overview of various nanoformulated nutraceuticals and its approach towards the treatment of multiple diseases.

Background/Aim. Data on sodium intake and sources of sodium in the diet in Serbia are limited. The aim of this study was to estimate the sodium intake and identify the sources of sodium in the diet of undergraduate students attending the University of Novi Sad. Methods. Students completed a questionnaire to gather data on their gender, age and university faculty attended, and then a 24 h dietary recall. The sodium intake of the students was calculated using the dietary recall data and data on the sodium content of foods. The contribution of different food groups as well as of specific foodstuffs to the total sodium intake was calculated. Results. The mean estimated sodium intake of the students was 3,938.5 ? 1,708.1 mg/day. The sodium intake of 89.1% of the surveyed students exceeded the guideline for sodium intake, the majority of the sodium coming from processed foods (78.9% of the total sodium intake). The food groups that contributed the most to the total sodium intake of the students were meat and meat products (21.7%) and cereals and cereal-based products (18.6%). Bread and other bakery products were responsible for 13.1% of the total sodium intake. Conclusion. High sodium intake in students of the University of Novi Sad puts them at high risk of developing high blood pressure. The food industry should work towards reformulating products with high sodium content, especially bread and other bakery products. Efforts should be taken to reduce sodium intake among undergraduate students in Novi Sad.

The problem of nutrition is still a public health problem in Indonesia. Malnutrition has not been resolved, the prevalence of overweight and obesity has begun to increase, especially in the middle and upper socioeconomic groups in urban areas. This is particularly troubling because it threatens the quality of Human Resources (HR) is indispensable in the future (Depkes RI, 2007). Changes in diet and physical activity resulted in the increasing number of people experiencing nutritional problems, such as overweight/obesity and malnutrition. Diet as the main factor nutritional problems, basically can be overcome by regulating the intake of good nutrition for consumption. But unfortunately, not many people know the setting of a good and proper diet. The Nutrition Plan was created as an expert system in determining balanced nutrition for adults based on body mass index and daily diet using forward chaining inference. This system will recommend what foods are suitable for every adult in accordance with the needs of calories per day in the hope of prevalence rates for the Indonesian people suffering from malnutrition and overweight can be reduced significantly. In addition to facilitating the public, especially normal adults to know the nutritional information in order to achieve a healthy lifestyle.

This chapter addresses the rise of lifestyle medicine. The impact of chronic diseases on health and quality of life are well-known within the medical community. Preventive medicine has only been partially successful in addressing these problems. For physicians to advocate healthy lifestyle choices for their patients, they must first understand what a healthy lifestyle entails. The Six Pillars of Lifestyle Medicine outline the six main lifestyle changes—healthful eating, increasing physical activity, improving sleep, managing stress, avoiding risky substances, forming and maintaining relationships—that physicians should promote to their patients. The global public health burden of diabetes, obesity, and other lifestyle diseases is increasing at an astounding rate. However, very few training programs have robust educational offerings for physicians on nonpharmacological treatment of obesity and diabetes.

ObjectiveA healthy diet is associated with reduced risk for stroke, myocardial infarction, cancer and death. We examined the prevalence of a healthy diet in patients with a recent stroke or transient ischaemic attack (TIA).MethodsWe recruited a convenience sample of 95 patients with a recent ischaemic stroke or TIA. Using information from a 125-item Food Frequency Questionnaire, we calculated dietary quality and the percentage of patients meeting recommended daily intake (RDI) for common macronutrients and elements.ResultsThe mean age of patients was 66 years (SD: 16) and 46% were women. 39 patients (41%) were classified as having a healthy diet (35% of men and 48% of women). The majority of patients were within the RDI for carbohydrates (56.8%), total fat (61.1%), long-chain n-3 fats (68.4%), polyunsaturated fats (79.0%) and protein (96.8%). Very few patients consumed the recommended intake for sodium (25.3%), and even fewer consumed the RDI for potassium (4.2%), with the majority of patients consuming too much sodium and too little potassium.ConclusionWe found that most patients with recent stroke or TIA were not following a healthy diet before their stroke event. For most patients, sodium intake was much above and potassium intake was much below RDI.

<p>The article investigates the scopes of word semantics. Firstly, the author gives general information about the term concept. The author investigates the thoughts of linguists about the concepts in different languages. For instance, A.Abdullayev writes: “Concepts are inside representatives of the aspects, fragments of the environment in a human’s psychology. We can say they are inside us” (Abdullayev, 2011). N. Chomiski writes: “The concepts that are created in the human’s minds define the form and the meaning of a great number of sentences, and it means that our knowledge and opinions are endless” (Bickerton, 2010). The author underlines the fact that concepts belong to human conscious, and they purely have typically mind characters.Investigating the article we observe that the author stands on the meanings of the wordsespecially on the meanings of the words denoting life and death. Saying literally, a man can be considred to be a walking dictionary created by God. Each of the individuals has its own word stock in its mind. There exist a lot of words with various meanings, and the article deals with the meanings of the words denoting death and life. The author gives their translations both in the English language and in the Azerbaijani language, and it helps us to catch the similar and different meanings that they form inside the contexts. The author comes to the conclusion that the meanings that the people want to express and the meaning that the words express are different. The article gives the list of the meanings of the words suggested by J. Lyons.</p>

Abstract Objectives Infant cereal consumption among 6–11.9 month old infants has declined from 72% in 2002 to 52% in 2016. This is especially concerning for breastfed infants since infant cereal is a top source of iron and other key nutrients. The purpose of this study is to determine how infant cereal consumption impacts nutrient intakes of breastfed infants. Methods FITS 2016 is a cross sectional survey of caregivers across the U.S. assessing food and nutrient intakes. A 24 hour dietary recall was administered to caregivers of children aged 0–47.9 months (n = 3235). For this analysis, only infants aged 6–11.9 months who were either breastfed (no infant formula provided, n = 296) or mixed fed (breastmilk and infant formula provided, n = 102) were included. If any amount of infant cereal was consumed, the infant was considered a cereal user. Dietary supplements were excluded to determine usual nutrient intakes from diet only. Infants were categorized as a breastfed cereal user, breastfed non-user, mixed fed cereal user, or mixed fed non-user. The percentage of infants with dietary nutrient intakes below the adequate intake (AI) or estimated average requirement (EAR) were analyzed for significant differences between cereal users and non-users among breastfed and mixed fed infants using paired T-tests. Results Among breastfed infants, a significantly higher percentage of cereal users had intakes above the EAR or AI level for iron, vitamin C, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, folate, vitamin B12, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, vitamin A, zinc, potassium, and choline compared to non-users (See Figure 1). Among mixed fed infants, a significantly higher percentage of cereal users had intakes above the EAR or AI level for iron, magnesium, and choline (See Figure 2). Most infants had inadequate intakes of vitamin D. Conclusions Breastfed and mixed fed infants who consume infant cereal are more likely to have adequate intakes of iron, choline, and magnesium than their non-infant cereal consuming counterparts. Among breastfed infants, infant cereal consumers are also more likely to consume adequate amounts of 12 other nutrients compared to non-users.
