The Covid-19 outbreak led to the closure of educational institutions and affected all the stakeholders in varied ways. As an interim measure, the online mode of teaching has been adopted all over the world. This transition, with its own pros and cons, has provided a path for continuing with education even during the pandemic. This new scenario involves financial and non-financial aspects with regard to education, and there is, therefore, a need to study the transition carefully. This study aims to explore and describe Teachers’ Perceptions of online teaching. A quantitative research design has been adopted for the study. A structured questionnaire was used (N=56) for data collection from teachers. The study participants were the teachers at the English Language Centre at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (Ibra), Sultanate of Oman. The findings of the study confirm that online teaching has been successful during the covid-19 outbreak.

The aftermath of COVID-19 has affected the lives of Bangladeshi people and impacted dramatically on the educational systems. Due to the pandemic situation, the Bangladeshi tertiary education sector had to switch to an online learning and teaching model from the traditional ones. This paper aims to identify the obstacles encountered by the university teachers in online teaching during the pandemic in Bangladesh. An exploratory qualitative research methodology has been used in this paper. The study was conducted among the teachers working in several universities of Bangladesh. Open-ended questions and semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted among 13 male and 17 female educators to collect data regarding the problems faced by them. The findings revealed four different categories of impediments that the teachers faced during the online mode of teaching and learning. The study results can be helpful to the regulatory authorities and employers of higher education institutions who are planning to adopt online teaching as a regular activity in the future.

The absence of a single performance management system (PMS) aligned to institutional strategy and business processes often results in failure to deliver anticipated benefits as it is not cascaded down to all departments, teams or individuals. This study aims to determine employees’ expectations for the proposed PMS and their perceptions of the system’s impact on effectiveness within the university concerned. This study adopted a quantitative research design and a survey method was used, whereby, a structured questionnaire was administered by the researcher to a selected population size of 150 of which 108 completed questionnaires, generating a response rate of 72%. The study reflects a disproportionately high percentage of 34% of the respondents who disagreed and 21.3% who were undecided as to whether PMS is needed at the university concerned where the majority of these respondents being academics and those with matriculation. The university concerned should develop a PMS which is aligned to the university strategic plan and to other university policies coupled with structured change management interventions focusing on academics and semi-skilled employees.

<p>Communication efficacy is important especially during the process of seeking job and<strong> </strong>is essential to the success of both the student and the teacher in learning environment. This study explored the students’ communication efficacy in Vietnamese higher education, and how students’ communication efficacy was affected by university experience variables. A quantitative research method was used in the study; out of the 618 third-year students of 24 faculties and departments in the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City responded to the study and were study participants. The finding of this study presents that students were moderated with their communication efficacy. The study also shows that of university experiences persistently exhibited significant positive effects on students’ communication efficacy. Recommendation of study was discussed.</p>

The need for modernization of curricula is growing with the development of new technologies to support teaching, changes in business strategy of universities in Poland and European Union, and development of the society. In response to these changes, at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Poznan University of Technology, new English-language specialty master studies - Construction Technology Management was launched in March 2014. Studies are based on the cooperation between the student, the industry and the university, allowing students to get to know the specifics of the construction industry. In addition, Poznan University of Technology is involved in an MBAIC project MBA in construction aimed at common study for postgraduates. The synergy achieved through the implementation of these two projects enables the possibility to educate construction managers capable of communication in English, possessing knowledge regarding innovation in the construction industry, who are well prepared to enter the labour market and have the possibility of subsequent improvement of managerial competences.

This study aimed to investigate Jordanian university students’ attitudes toward online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns, shed light on the obstacles students encounter in online learning, and suggest possible solutions. A questionnaire designed by the researchers was used to elicit responses from a study sample consisting of 195 students from the Department of English Language and Literature at the University of Jordan – Aqaba. As this is an attitudinal study, the survey questionnaire was designed to elicit student responses on the following domains: gender, seniority level, socioeconomic status, training and orientation for using eLearning platforms, and their attitudes, whether positive or negative, toward online learning. Results of this quantitative research showed that student attitudes toward online learning are generally negative. The majority of the respondents reported that they prefer face-to-face classroom instruction over online learning because it gives them direct contact with the instructors. Furthermore, results revealed statistically significant differences amongst students attributed to their gender, whereas no differences were found with regards to their seniority of study, socioeconomic status, and the eLearning platform they prefer to use. The study concludes by proposing some pedagogical recommendations.

Corona pandemic has a strong influence on almost all fields all over the world, especially in education. In Vietnam, in the case study of the University of Technology and Education Ho Chi Minh City (HCMUTE), most of the lecturers being responsible for theoretical subjects are required to teach their students online during the outbreak of COVID 19. It is a crucial issue that needs efficiency from online learning. This study aims to evaluate the status and efficiency of online learning at HCMUTE. Altogether 108 students and 25 lecturers participated in the study. The qualitative data collection tool was a questionnaire that has open and closed questions related to the learning environment, the interaction relationships, and learning outcomes. The results show that there is a synchronous learning environment and plenty of digital tools used by most lecturers. About 74 percent of students are satisfied and keen on continuing online learning; a large number of lecturers would like to continue with blended learning. Besides, the study also found out some difficulties that focus on two main issues such as technical issues, and decreasing students’ activeness during online classes. The study also recommends three learning activities design stages that the lecturers can apply for their online teaching to encourage students to active learning. This research extends knowledge of pedagogy and orient the next online course design at UTEx.

The subject of my research is to investigate the students attitudes towards blended teaching among students of the University of Calcutta. The three purposes for which I have studied are –1.To study the attitude of Calcutta University students towards Blended Teaching. 2. To study the difference in attitude of Calcutta University students towards Blended Teaching with regard to gender. 3.To study the difference in attitude of Calcutta University students towards Blended Teaching with regard to locality. The quantitative research method has been used for the study. The results I obtained through the self- constructed attitude scale are –There is no significant difference in attitude towards Blended Teaching between male and female students of Calcutta University. And there is no significant difference in attitude towards Blended Teaching between rural and urban students of Calcutta University.Most of the students think that the Blended Teaching method can be acceptable to the students of College and University. Most of the students think that it will be benefited to the students if some syllabus is taught in Online Mode and some is taught in Offline Mode. Most of the students think that the students will be benefited by Blended Teaching method. Most of the students think that Blended Teaching method will benefit the teachers in teaching. Most of the students think that Blended Teaching will improve the learning of the students. Most of the students think that the Blended Teaching method will make the learning environment and teaching more flexible. Some students think that many students will face with difficulties in Blended Teaching. Some students think that only the Offline Teaching is more effective than Blended Teaching in Higher Education.

Traditional ways of teaching were challenged by differentiated instruction which aims to embrace students’ variance. Teachers are expected to maximize the learning opportunities by meeting the diverse needs of their learners. English teachers in Omani schools are trained and instructed to modify the content to meet students’ different levels; however, teachers in higher education institutions are given more freedom in planning and conducting their classes. This research investigated teachers’ perceptions of differentiated instruction which is customised to meet the diversity of learning needs and interests of English as foreign language students in the University of Technology and Applied Sciences-Rustaq (UTAS-Rustaq). The study also sought to identify practices teachers follow to implement differentiated instruction. An exploratory, descriptive analysis and a survey were employed to obtain the necessary data, which indicated that teachers are aware of differentiating instruction and the related practices. Teachers also showed a good understanding of the type of knowledge needed to obtain before implementing differentiation and the assessment tools to attain them. However, the results also indicate an essential need for structural support, professional development, to meet the challenges identified by teachers to maintain the continuity of these practices.

This quantitative research studied the anxiety level of university students towards speaking English as a second language (ESL)to examine whether there is any correlation between the university students’ ESL speaking anxiety and the demographic factors such as the SPM English results, mother tongue, and parents’ academic qualifications. A sample of 592 students was randomly selected from two public universities in Sarawak, Malaysia. Items in the PSCAS questionnaire by Yaikhong and Usaha (2012) were adapted to measure the students’ anxiety level in speaking English. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics to identify the students’ anxiety level in speaking English. Inferential statistics (Pearsoncorrelation) was used to examine the relationship between the university students’ ESL speaking anxiety and demographic factors. The findings indicate that these students experienced a moderate level of speaking anxiety. There was a positive correlation between the university students’ ESL speaking anxiety and SPM English Language results. Nevertheless, there was a low negative correlation between the students’ ESL speaking anxiety and mother tongue as well as parents’ academic qualifications. Findings from this study provide a basis for educators to plan effective teaching strategies to reduce English speaking anxiety among university students.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a newly discovered infectious disease caused by a virus named "coronavirus." The lockdown due to COVID 19 has largely affected the lives of students as they no more get to interact on a one on one basis with their teachers. This shift in education from traditional classroom learning to computer-based learning might be one of the largest educational experiments to date. As the online teaching-learning process has become more prevalent in India due to COVID 19 pandemic, it becomes particularly important to know its growth and to know whether it's actually helping the students achieve what they expect out of college. The present study was therefore designed to understand the student's perspective, attitudes, and readiness about online classes being conducted at the University level. An Observational, Descriptive study was conducted. The data was collected using a Questionnaire. The present study was carried out amongst 200 students. After analyzing the results, it was found that 74% of the students liked studying through online classes. The most common reason (49%) as to why the students like studying online were that the study time becomes flexible, and they can study anytime they want. Lack of co-curricular activity was the most common issue (34%) of online classes, as reported by the students. Most of the students were found satisfied with the content and procedure of online teaching. About 30% of the students reported that they prefer their lecture being delivered through a PPT with an audio recording. The present study that was conducted among college students revealed that maximum students are in favor of studying through online classes, but they feel that there is a lack of co-curricular activities in the online mode of conducting classes. As the students are in favor of online classes, such classes must be continued with some interventions.  Education  Ministry must develop certain rules and guidelines wherein certain online activity sessions can be made compulsory along with regular lecture sessions.
