MOOCs plays a vital role in transforming higher education across the globe. Today, providing an access to higher education to people of all sectors is the highest priority in all the developed and developing countries. Currently many universities in developed countries are able to get to the top rankings (by various agencies) because of their high education standards, flexibility in the education system, curriculum and outreach programmes. By this they are able to attract the best brains from across the globe. MOOCs helps them to attain this to a greater extent apart from the policy matters. In this paper, cumulative data of three consecutive years of a NPTEL local chapter and of courses in Coursera taken during the peak pandemic duration is taken in to consideration for the analysis of trends and popularity of MOOCs among students and faculty fraternity in a technical institution.

During the past two decades, a growing number of universities, mainly from developed countries, have established branch campuses in developing countries. From the developing country perspective, attracting foreign universities can help mitigate financial constraints and capacity shortages that impair the state’s ability to provide greater access to higher education, while also improving teaching and research in general. However, foreign universities may also be detrimental if they crowd out their domestic counterparts. We explore different scenarios and policy options for developing countries aiming to attract foreign universities, building upon a review of four case studies from Chile, China, Kazakhstan, and Malaysia. Our analysis illustrates how host countries can provide incentives to align incoming foreign universities to complement and strengthen the areas of weakness in their higher education systems. We also reflect on how policy-makers can deal with the challenges associated with the dual embeddedness of international branch campuses.

International cooperation is a growing trend among research universities. In the past, this took the form of collaboration between researchers in developing countries with those in the developed world that enjoy superior access to fnancial and technical resources as well as infrastructure. More recently, the collaboration map has begun to change, as scientists in developed countries recognised how local context can affect their work, and those in developing countries are slowly building their research capabilities. Furthermore, South-South research collaboration is considered increasingly important, alongside developments in science and higher education in these countries. Following a brief overview of the Brazilian higher education system, this article discusses the complexity of establishing international collaboration, citing a few programmes aiming at strengthening South-South cooperation. La coopération internationale ne cesse de croitre au sein des universités de recherche. Dans le passé, elle prenait la forme d’une collaboration entre les chercheurs de pays en voie de développement et ceux de pays développés, qui ont accès à des ressources fnancières et techniques ainsi que des infrastructures supérieures. Plus récemment, le format des collaborations a commencé à changer, alors que les scientifques des pays développés reconnaissent la manière dont le contexte local impacte leur travail, tandis que ceux des pays en voie de développement créent doucement des capacités de recherche. Par ailleurs, la collaboration de recherche sud-sud est de plus en plus considérée essentielle, parallèlement aux développements de la science et de l’enseignement supérieur dans ces pays. Après une brève introduction au système d’enseignement supérieur brésilien, cet article aborde la complexité de la mise en place de partenariats internationaux, en faisant référence à quelques programmes visant à renforcer les coopérations sud-sud.

This article sets sights on highlighting the effectiveness and efficiency of higher and vocational education and training, as well as exploring ways to address and implement the current reform agenda in the field. The research was conducted on the basis of a generalizing and comparative method, to identify the problems and development of vocational and higher education. Within the framework of the conducted research the current state of vocational and higher education has been characterized; the features of online learning at leading universities and its advantages has been clarified; the prospects of introduction of continuity of education have been studied, for the development of personality abilities, taking into account changes in society in the context of improvement of the system of vocational and higher education caused by the European integration process of education; directions for the development of vocational and higher education as part of the national education system and society in general have been outlined. It is determined, that at the present stage the domestic education system should be improved and transferred to an innovative way of development in accordance with developed countries. In the near future, such modern forms of education as: distance education, dual education, continuing vocational education and others, should be improved and implemented into the educational process.

The education system in Pakistan does not cater to the need of the society especially inculcating the unity of thought, skills, and attitudes among the learners. The serious efforts to improve the standard of Higher Education for the commercialization of education especially higher education have not been made by the government. A number of policies were framed for the betterment of the education system but there could not be a single unanimous policy framed and materialized. Pakistan is a country that has invested meager resources in the education sector. The countries which invested in the human resource are now leading the economic arena and are counted as developed countries. With the reasonable allocation of funds and expertise in this field, the priorities can be fixed to correlate with the standards of the higher education of developed countries. Higher Education Commission or the like bodies of developed countries have played a pivotal role in making their educational standards and these are role model for Pakistan. In this respect, some practical suggestions are recommended for enhancing the marketability and commercialization of education in Pakistan.

El desarrollo  de competencias para la investigación en estudiantes de Educación Superior es una tarea ardua. Sin embargo, la formación de recursos humanos en investigación debe ser una de las tareas permanentes de las Universidades, esto debido a que posibilita a los países en desarrollo el poder acceder a mejores niveles de bienestar social en materia de crecimiento económico, producción de ciencia, tecnología y mejora de la calidad educativa. El presente reporte muestra los resultados del esfuerzo de los últimos 12 años del Centro Universitario de los Lagos de la Universidad de Guadalajara, quien tiene como eje fundamental la investigación y como parte inherente el desarrollo de competencias en investigación en estudiantes universitarios. Esperando que dichos recursos humanos que han sido formados en la investigación en un mediano y/o largo plazo vengan a incrementar, enriquecer y realizar el relevo generacional de los investigadores en la región centro occidente de México. In this work, we present the results of the effort of the last 12 years in the University of Guadalajara at Lagos de Moreno, which its fundamental axis is the scientific research. Like inherent part of the formation of university students, they will increase, enrich and to became in to the generational relief of the researchers in Jalisco state and perhaps of the Mexican Republic. Since gaining independence, Kazakhstan has been carrying out active reforms in the field of higher education. This, in turn, led to a systematic policy of transition to a market economy. The research work will include the current state of the higher education sector in Kazakhstan and further development provided for by the Bologna process. In the course of the study, several typologies will be identified to visualize how the education system in Kazakhstan has revolutionized. Analytical methods, such as pie charts and graphs, are also used to analyze research data. The study discusses the need to improve the quality of human capital by improving and modernizing the higher education system. Domestic higher education plays a vital role in the professional training of competent and globally competitive specialists for all sectors of the economy of Kazakhstan.

The teaching-learning process, especially in higher education has always been a matter of great concern in developing countries as it makes the nation’s youth capable and is a mainstay towards its development. With the introduction of ICT, it has become even more important to change the learning methodology using the latest technologies like e-Learning, m-Learning, Cloud Computing etc., to match with the education standards of developed countries. This aim of this paper is to provide an insight about the use of e-Learning and cloud computing in HEIs. The paper also discusses the various cloud based adoption technologies used for HEIs and illustrates the comparative analysis of the web based and cloud based e-Learning system.

The topic of assessing disparities in college access in China (and other developing countries undergoing major transitions in their higher education systems) is an important one. Small grain cereals have served as the basis for staple foods, beverages, and animal feed for thousands of years. Wheat, barley, oats, rye, triticale, rice, and others are rich in calories, proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals. These cereals supply 20% of the calories consumed by people worldwide and are therefore a primary source of energy for humans and play a vital role in global food and nutrition security. Global production of small grains increased linearly from 1960 to 2005, and then began to decline. Further decline in production is projected to continue through 2050 while global demand for these grains is projected to increase by 1% per annum. Currently, wheat, barley, and oat production exceeds consumption in developed countries, while in developing countries the consumption rate is higher than production. An increasing demand for meat and livestock products is likely to compound the demand for cereals in developing countries. Current production levels and trends will not be sufficient to fulfill the projected global demand generated by increased populations. For wheat, global production will need to be increased by 60% to fulfill the estimated demand in 2050. Until recently, global wheat production increased mostly in response to development of improved cultivars and farming practices and technologies. Production is now limited by biotic and abiotic constraints, including diseases, nematodes, insect pests, weeds, and climate. Among these constraints, plant-parasitic nematodes alone are estimated to reduce production of all world crops by 10%. Cereal cyst nematodes (CCNs) are among the most important nematode pests that limit production of small grain cereals. Heavily invaded young plants are stunted and their lower leaves are often chlorotic, forming pale green patches in the field. Mature plants are also stunted, have a reduced number of tillers, and the roots are shallow and have a “bushy-knotted” appearance. CCNs comprise a number of closely-related species and are found in most regions where cereals are produced.

Tobacco smoking is one of the greatest threats to human health. The global epidemic of tobacco killed 100 million in the 20th century, and if not dealt with on a war- footing shall entice and kill another one billion in this century. In the society , physicians play a leading role as ambassadors of promoting issues related to health. They play a vital role in helping patients to stop smoking as they occupy an important position as tobacco control exemplars. Unfortunately, the rate of smoking in the medical profession in some developed countries and newly-developing countries is still high. Considering the staggering cost of smoking in terms of human lives, physicians should not rest until they have successfully kicked the habit.
