Pondok Pesantren is one of the oldest educational institutions in Indonesia. The significance of the kiai's role in the boarding school is directly proportional to his leadership in managing and directing the entire community in his cottage, especially the students and their influence in society. While the model in leading his Islamic boarding school, each kiai has his own method for advancing his pesantren. This happened because of the kiai's focus on developing his boarding school and the environmental conditions of the surrounding community. This article was describe how the leadership role of kiai in Islamic boarding schools in developing the institutions. This research  was descriptive research methods with a qualitative research approach. The main finding in the researcher was the figure of a kiai with his charismatic character that able to have a positive effect in the development of the Islamic boarding schools. This study aims to analyze the role of the Riyadhul Jannah Islamic Boarding School in community economic empowerment in Pacet Village, Mojokerto. This study uses a qualitative research approach to understand phenomena about what is experienced by research subjects, such as subjects, perceptions, motivations, actions, and so forth. The results showed that the Riyadhul Jannah Islamic boarding school had a role in community empowerment around the boarding school. The role of Islamic boarding schools is shown by the activities of the business units of PT. Rijan Dinamis Selaras which involve communities around the boarding schools so that the benefits can be felt directly by the people of Pacet Village and its surroundings.Keywords: Economic Empowerment, Islamic Business, Islamic Communities

The development plan of the Islamic Boarding School in the middle of the times it is not impossible to do. As the oldest educational institutions in Indonesia, Islamic Boarding School is an educational institution that is civilized. The development of Islamic boarding school can be done through two aspects; boarding school as an educational unit and boarding school as a place of education units. Islamic Boarding School as an educational unit in the form of Muaddalah Islamic Boarding School while boarding school as a place of education unit is a main unit of doing other educational institutions. Development of the Islamic Boarding School can also be developed through the role of Islamic Boarding Schools that do not merely act as an educational institution, but also serves as a social institutions and economic institutions of society.

The teacher is the transformational media of all the knowledge needed by students. In addition, the role of teachers is very much needed especially in Islamic-based schools that always pay attention and prioritize students to continue their studies in college. To get closer and to build with high enthusiasm for the achievement of the priorities above, the researcher conducted research at second grade of Elementary School in Sidoarjo by knowing more about the leadership style of the principal in improving the work ethic of Islamic Education teachers. This study is entitled "The leadership role of school principals in improving the work ethic of Islamic Religious Education teachers at second grade of Elementary School in Sidoarjo". This research is a qualitative study, through a phenomenological approach that is a qualitative research approach rooted in philosophical and psychological and focuses on human life experiences (sociology) that produce descriptive data in the form of written or oral data from observable people's behavior. The form of research is descriptive qualitative research, namely research that describes an object relating to the problem conducted without asking research variables.The results of research on the role of principals in improving the work ethic of teachers of Islamic Education are as follows: (1) as educators: principals must have the right strategy to improve the work ethic of teachers and professional educators. (2) as a manager at school: the task of the manager is to plan something that can improve the work ethic of the teachers of Islamic Education and the quality of education, in addition the manager also organizes educational resources that have not been organized in order to unite in implementing education and control the implementation of educational outcomes . (3) as a motivator: the principal has a very close relationship with various activities in the school, such as providing motivation and encouragement, so the teacher is more disciplined and has a work spirit.

Al Masruriyyah Islamic Boarding School is one of the huts of the Tebuireng foundation that is still hungry for discipline in obeying the rules of the cottage. Al Masruriyyah Islamic boarding schools apply ta’zir as a form of consequence for santri who violate the rules of the cottage. This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of ta’zir in increasing the discipline of santri in Al Masruriyyah Islamic boarding schools. This study uses a qualitative research approach. Data collection techniques using the method of observation, interviews and documentation. The data obtained will be compiled by reducing/summarizing the data, then presenting the data and drawing conclusions.  Based on the research shows that: the implementation  of ta’zir carried out by the management and has been approved by the supervisor and caregivers for giving ta’zir every 2 weeks. The criteria for the distribution of ta’zir are 3 from the low, medium and heavy according to the mistakes that have been made. The procedure for giving ta’zir (1) is advised, (2) in ta’zir (3) to be called to Ndalem. The impact of the implementation of ta’zir is that there is a better change in the implementation of teaching and learning activities, obeying the rules, and discipline in worship activities to Allah SWT.

Islamic boarding schools as educational institutions play a role to build  Islamic values. Islamic values are patterns or concepts that are upheld by Muslims with various main problems related to Islam. This type of research was qualitative descriptive research that was the process of research by conducting an assessment of phenomena, and events, in the life of students, by directly or indirectly involved in the settings studied. The main problem in this research is how factors influence the cultivation of Islamic values in Islamic boarding schools. The purpose of the research was to examine the factors that influence the cultivation of Islamic values on students at the Islamic Boarding School of Hidayatullah Balikpapan. The methods of collecting data were conducted by observations, interviews, and documentation through researchers collecting data step by step and then concluded. The process of processing and analyzing data through three analysis activities simultaneously, namely: (1) data reduction (2) data display, (3) and concluding. The results of the research showed that the factors of cultivating Islamic values to students at the Islamic boarding school of Hidayatullah Balikpapan were (1) the integration of curriculum, (2) integrated between mosques, dormitories, and madrasah in the educational process, (3) the existence of qudwah (role model) from elders, community leaders, alumni, and seniors, (4) the support of the government and the local community. Meanwhile, Islamic values were instilled from the aspect of religion, worship, and morality.

Salafischools are lately emerging as new model schools. Salafiboarding schools have their own orientation and way of seeing education. Salafischools genealogically and intellectually have nothing to do with traditional Islamic boarding schools (salafi yah) and other modern boarding schools. The Salafi boarding schools have certain religious ideas which can be connected with the salafimovement in Indonesia and Islamic world. The Salafiboarding schools are experiencing significant growth. One of the Salafiboarding schools is Pesantren Assunah Kalitanjung Cirebon. Assunah boarding school has a positive and negative place amongst the people of Cirebon. In fact, pesantren Assunah has been accused of planting the seeds of violence that leads to terrorism. This research uses a qualitative research approach by interviewing a number of pesantren leaders and preachers of Assunah, organization leaders, representatives of Islamic universities as well as by observing the Assunah boarding school campus, studying the documents that exist in schools, and obtaining data and information relating to the Assunah school. The conclusion is that the Assunah salafiboarding school is carrying out a mission oriented toward an educational culture by implementing the concept of cultural transmission. Akhir-akhir ini muncul pesantren model baru yang sering disebut “pesantren salafi”.  Pesantren model salafimemiliki orientasi sendiri dalam cara memandang dan mengartikulasikan pendidikan yang diselenggarakan. Pesantren model salafisecara genealogi dan jaringan intelektual tidak memiliki kaitan dengan pesantren-pesantren tradisional (salafiyah) dan pesantren modern model Gontor dan jaringannya. Pesantren model salafiini memiliki paham keagamaan tertentu yang dapat dihubungkan dengan gerakan salafi baik di Indonesia maupun di dunia Islam lainnya. Pesantren model salafiini mengalami perkembangan yang cukup signifikan. Salah satu pesantren salafiadalah Pesantren Assunah Kalitanjung Cirebon. Pesantren Assunah ini mengalami pro dan kontra di kalangan masyarakat Cirebon. Bahkan, Pesantren Assunah pernah dituduh mengajarkan benih-benih kekerasan yang mengarah kepada terorisme. Melalui pendekatan penelitian kualitatif dengan mewawancarai sejumlah pimpinan dan ustadz pesantren Assunah, tokoh ormas, pihak perguruan tinggi Islam; mengobservasi kampus pesantren Assunah; dan mempelajari dokumen-dokumen yang ada di pesantren, didapatkan data dan informasi terkait dengan pesantren Assunah. Dengan menggunakan konsep “cultural transmission”, disimpulkan bahwa Pesantren Assunah sedang melakukan misi kontinuitas kultur salafidalam orientasi pendidikannya.

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study was to determine the strategic role of hidden curriculum in the process of instilling the value of character education through the contribution of school, family and community. This research is a qualitative research using a descriptive research approach. Data collection was carried out by making observations, in-depth interviews, documentation, and participation. The subjects of this study were board of dormitories and Ustadz or Ustadzah, student guardians, officials in the neighborhood of Al-Azhar Islamic boarding school and students. Data validity was checked by triangulating using different sources and methods. The results showed that; (1) The implementation of religious character education through the Hidden Curriculum in AlAzhar Islamic Boarding School in Yogyakarta is carried out through; (a) Halaqoh: namely activities in the form of independent tadarus, language activities, guidance, guidance and supervision. (b) Outside the teachings of Halaqoh, namely Infaq Friday, dhuha prayer, a culture of clean living, a culture of discipline and 5S culture (smile, greetings, greetings, courtesy, and politeness). (2) Implementing the program to optimize the role of the three education centers in fostering religious character through; (a) integrating the values of character education in boarding activities. (b) daily habituation. (3) The contribution of the three education centers in fostering religiosity through; (a) habitual formation method (habituation). (b) Training by applying examples. (c) Train with Wisdom. (d) committee meetings. (e) mosque-based activities (f) the community as stakeholders.Keywords: Three Education Center, Character Building, Hidden Curriculum

Islamic boarding school is the oldest educational institution by the nation that participated in creating literate society. In the midst of this globalization era, Islamic boarding schools maintain both classical and modern education and teaching systems. In educational institutions need to pay attention to the quality management of education in order to improve and develop educational institutions for the future. The reality that we get in guaranteeing the quality of education in Islamic boarding schools is that there are many obstacles that must be resolved. With this the author intends to examine several management systems or quality management based on Islamic boarding schools. This study used qualitative research methods. This research is specifically directed towards descriptive qualitative research design. Trying to solve the problem based on the data concerned with the concept of quality management based on Islamic boarding school. The concept that has been prepared in the management of education quality in Islamic boarding schools is oriented to improving the quality of education by referring to the values ​​of Islamic boarding schools / Islamic society that have been entrenched among Indonesian people, by using tools, techniques and philosophies to create quality education in order to achieve educational goals.
