The objective of the current research is to identify the degree of awareness of the teachers of physics and chemistry for the preparatory stage with the requirements of sustainable development. The sample consisted of (49) including (29 ) teachers and ( 20) randomly selected schools and (97) teachers and schools of physics, including (64) teachers (33) schools The researchers also committed themselves to preparing a tool for their research consisting of two cognitive and practical aspects, five axes for each side and (71) sub-paragraphs representing a triangular scale in the form of paragraphs to be answered by teachers and teachers with options that represent the degree Practice, and who has experience (6) years The results showed that the degree of awareness of the teachers and teachers of physics and chemistry was moderately aware of both the cognitive aspect and the practical aspect of sustainable education and with a mean (2.01) And (1,99) respectively, while the awareness of the sub-axes of the knowledge and applied sides between the low and medium, except the axis of visions and concept of sustainable education of the cognitive side was high awareness and the research presented a set of recommendations and proposals.

The concept of sustainable education has seven main features: being holistic and interdisciplinary, focusing on values, directing to critical thinking and problem solving, requiring the use of multiple teaching methods, encouraging participatory decision-making, highlighting applicability and locality. The knowledge and beliefs of the people, who will start teaching as a vocation, have an important role for both teachers and students in terms of being in an innovative understanding and attitude. Describing the attitudes of prospective teachers with the potential to raise future generations is important for reviewing teacher training policies. For this purpose, two scales were used in the study. The first one, “The Beliefs for Sustainable Development Education Scale”, consists of 32 items and three sub-factors. The other is the “Individual Innovation Scale”; this 20-item 5-point Likert scale has five sub-dimensions as Innovative, Pioneer, Questioner, Sceptic, and Traditionalist. The data obtained were subjected to correlation and regression statistics and discussed in the light of literature. All in all, it can be seen that there are significant relationships between personal innovativeness and the dimensions of sustainable development education. According to findings, it was observed that as long as the willingness and openness-to-experience of teacher candidates’ taking risk increases in the context of personal innovativeness, their beliefs regarding sustainable development increase concordantly. Teacher candidates can resist change with the concern over whether the current knowledge and efforts will be valuable in the new situation afterwards.

The report reveals the contribution of two international UNESCO/ UNITWIN Chair’s peer-reviewed journals – “Discourse and Communication for Sustainable Education” (DCSE) and “Journal of Teacher Education for Sustainability” (JTEFS) to sustainable development of Latgale. They are international, cross-disciplinary, scholarly and open access journals focusing on diverse aspects of environmental, cultural, economic and social sustainability thus enabling one to constructively and creatively address present and future global challenges in creating more sustainable and resilient societies. Both journals aim to respond to the priorities set by the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development and the Global Action Programme as implemented in LATGALE and in the partner countries. The study reflects on the thematic scope of the two journals that centres on reorienting education towards the goal of sustainable education and sustainable community in Latgale, Latvia, Europe and beyond. In order to respond to the challenges of global community that we are facing today, the research published in both journals suggests how education can contribute to overcoming the current crises in education and community, as well as offers strategies and ways of dealing with it sustainably and responsibly in Latgale. Education for sustainable development (ESD) includes more than knowledge related to the environment, economy, culture and society. It also addresses learning perspectives, strategies and values that guide and motivate people to seek sustainable livelihoods, participate in a democratic society and live in a sustainable manner. ESD also involves studying both local and global issues. The research offers the study of JTEFS contribution to meeting different views, ideas and research to promote further development of studies and practice of teacher education in all areas of formal and non-formal education in relation to sustainability. DCSE is an international, peer-reviewed journal that provides a platform for examination of policies, theories and practices related to the discourse and communication for sustainable education. Since contemporary discourse study has extended its field to the study of multifaceted contexts of discourse, it integrates a broader study of the phenomena of communication in relation to sustainable education. The diversity of the journal is apparent in the variety of its theories, methods and approaches, thus avoiding the frequent limitation to one school, approach or academic branch.

The health crisis at COVID-19 resulted in damage to human life and inevitable economic consequences, requiring immediate responses from governments. In this context, this work carried out an analysis on the Federal Development Strategy of Brazil, 2020 – 2031 in light of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Exploratory methodology was used and descriptive research was used to analyze and interpret the facts, in order to develop concepts and ideas needed to formulate new approaches on the same topic. Thus, an examination was carried out on the actions of economic recovery, according to the Federal Decree, which listed five axes to increase the income and quality of life of the Brazilian population, aiming at sustained economic growth and job creation. This work was complemented with the exploration of the results presented in the V Light Report of Civil Society Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development Brazil, which studied the fulfillment of the goals of Agenda 2030 in Brazil, by the Federal Government. The results achieved showed that the economic growth in the country, today and for the next few years, lacks a national articulation with clear guidelines and defined scopes, whose achievement of the goals established by the UN-SDGs will take place without stagnation and setbacks. The contribution of this study is the urgent need to look at the 2030 Agenda, to ensure social inclusion and sustainable development in Brazil.

The Agentive Role of Children's Views in Sustainable EducationThe environment and peoples' ideas of the environment are intertwined in the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). The environment has an effect on the educational content and people have an effect on the environment. Thus, sustainable education includes producing culture by children and with children. Sustainable learning should include finding ways to consider the effects of actions. The theoretic framework presented in the article was operationalized and studied in four Finnish kindergartens. The results bring children forward as producers of educational content. Children's views have an effect on the educational setting. In agentive learning children learn things that they themselves have been taking part creating. In discussion, the emerging roles of a teacher for ESD are considered. To be balanced, ESD may not only consider the equilibrium between accommodation and assimilation, but also the equilibrium between adaptation and agency.

Introduction. Providing the natural frame of the city as a sustainable system of landscaping and water areas in the urban environment is one of the tasks aimed at preserving the natural frame of the urban environment. The article focuses on the influence of the recreational load on the natural-anthropogenic territorial complex (PATC) located in the North-Eastern administrative region of Moscow. To ensure sustainable development of natural areas, the ability of the components of the natural environment to self-heal under conditions of anthropogenic impact is of particular importance. Taking into account the increase in residential and industrial areas located in close proximity to natural zones, the anthropogenic impact on natural complexes is increasing. First of all, this affects the recreational areas of park zones, where the potential recreational load begins to exceed the stan­dardized and causes degradation of green spaces and disruption of the urban ecosystem. Recreational load affects the state of the natural complex of the city, and its value is determined by the planning structure of urban development. While ensuring the safety of city parks, it becomes necessary to work with complete and reliable information, which can only be obtained through research. The practical aspect of scientific research, considered in the article, includes the results of the analysis of the impact of anthropogenic load on the natural-anthropogenic territorial complex of the park - the estate “Ostankino”. Materials and methods. The paper uses various attributive information collected from open sources and based on the results of field work by the authors, legal documents, and various cartographic materials. The calculation of potential visitors was carried out by a simple calculation method, followed by the use of the Microsoft Office Excel software product to compile the time dependencies of the visit. Results. On the basis of the conducted research, the excess of the normative value of the recreational load of the territory of the Ostankino estate park in Moscow was revealed and graphs of the dependence of the visit on the time intervals were constructed. Conclusions. The increased rate of population inflow and environmental pollution leads to the transformation of the ecological framework of the city.

In this chapter the authors argue the benefits of an “embedded strategy” for achieving a robust and sustainable Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) curriculum and outline some of the main approaches used at Kingston University (KU), London. The chapter includes feedback from students, academics, support staff and local employers engaged in these developments and highlights the main successes and the pitfalls encountered. Case studies exemplifying sustainability learning through a diversity of embedded approaches are presented and analysed. The authors' experience demonstrates that, although there is no “one size fits all” solution to ESD, sharing of experiences between sustainability professionals is vital to this agenda. The examples detailed in this chapter show that with careful design, active and multidisciplinary learning, sustainability understanding can be securely embedded in students' learning even where it is not the main programme objective.

In the introduction, a new object of research is indicated – innovative forms of employment in sustainable development, taking into account the principle of reproduction not only of the labor force, but of a working man in general. The purpose of the study is to analyze the system of relations of innovative forms of employment of the population of the Republic of Belarus in accordance with the requirements of sustainable development of the national economy. The aim of the study is a comparative analysis of the structure of employment of the able-bodied population in accordance with the requirements of sustainable development of the national economy.In the main part, the position is substantiated that today an analysis of the employment of the working-age population below and above its boundaries is carried out without taking into account the first preparatory stage of employment and labor of young people, without taking into account the indices of the level of sustainable socio-economic development of the country (health, education, standard of living, quality of life, healthy lifestyle; the level of development of environmental security and, in general, national security, demographic security).A global qualitative study of global and national documents, statistical data, proving the importance of researching a new object of the labor market – innovative forms of employment, was carried out.The results obtained can be applied in the development of a new object of the labor market – innovative forms of employment, in the construction of personal educational trajectories of young people, the development of the principle of social equality, in the construction of an innovative reproduction process of the population.

The article discusses the practical aspect of implementation of the idea of sustainable development in the EU Cohesion Policy in the 2014-2020 programming period in Poland. The objective of the study is to determine the relations between the idea of sustainable development and instruments of its implementation, and the identification of the scope of influence of Cohesion Policy tools on sustainable development of functional urban areas (FUA). The paper presents the author’s set of sustainable development indicators (SDI) and relevant analyses of their implementation in the financial and spatial aspect in 26 FUAs. Detailed analyses covered one of the new instruments of territorial development, namely Integrated Territorial Investments (ITI). The paper provides evidence which proves that the dominant sphere in the financial and spatial support is the modernisation of transport and energy engineering infrastructure, with potentially multiple effects, as well as the de­velopment of a structurally diverse labour market. The least support is provided to the strengthening of integrated management. The tested approach is applicable in reference to other functional areas in the EU. It can contribute to the determination of the extent to which the implementation of the Cohesion Policy supports sustainable development of cities and their functional areas. The application of SDI contributed to the understanding of the process in reality.

The study aims at reviewing the essence of sustainable education, highlighting its different approaches and analyzing transformation process of higher education for sustainable development (HESD). Since there is lack of sustainability research in the developing countries, the study addresses the issues of higher education towards sustainability from the perspective of a developing nation. This research is qualitative and descriptive in nature. It considered extensive literature survey to meet the research objectives. The study found that the issue of higher education for sustainable development got global attention especially in the Western society. In Mexico, many public universities introduced sustainability education as core course at the graduate and post-graduate level. Among the Asian nations, Malaysia has set an example taking initiative to transform higher education for a sustainable society. Universiti Sains Mlaysia (USM) got APEX status incorporating that dimension in the program. Bangladesh, the local context of the study, is lagging far behind in attempting to sustainable education. Both public and private universities are facing many challenges towards that dimension, which are highlighted in this study.IIUC Studies Vol.9 December 2012: 113-136
