The relevance of teaching a foreign language to future teachers in the context of updating school education puts forward requirements for the choice of teaching strategies. The article deals with the meta-subject aspect of foreign language training of future teachers. To form the readiness of future teachers to use the potential of a foreign language, it is important to understand the basic principles of integrating the content of special disciplines and knowledge of a foreign language. The meta-subject potential of a foreign language allows you to create opportunities for the development of general and special professional competencies. The formation of the competencies necessary to work with the updated content of education is the main task of the courses of the component for the choice of the bachelor's degree program at pedagogical university. The selection of optimal learning strategies contributes to the implementation of this task. The author examines the features of the use of modern pedagogical technologies and methods in the training of teachers of a new format.

This work considers the integrated teaching of mathematics and a foreign language as a process of strengthening interdisciplinary connections. Modern education presupposes the formation of a comprehensively developed personality capable of competing in conditions of varying complexity. Inter disciplinary approach allows you to create such conditions for the development of a multifaceted and successful personality. The main task of the work is the selection of a certain mathematical terminology (according to the themes of the school curriculum), its translation into English and the creation of guidelines for teachers, which reflect the basic principles, methods and techniques of organizing integrated activities. The practical part contains mathematical problems and examples that allow you to work out the lexical material in practical application. It is assumed that the study of mathematics in a foreign language will deepen the knowledge of students in both subject areas and will contribute to the development of thinking, mental flexibility and creativity

Arabic learning can take place at various ages of either children, adolescents or adults. Learning Arabic is something needed for especially Muslim because it is important in Muslim life. This paper will explain about the Arabic learning strategy for children. This is important to discuss because children need special strategies in learning for their ages. In collecting information, the writer uses library research method, which is done by comparing several literary sources, especially those that are the main source of discussion to discuss about the existing problems. Then, as the result, language learning is a help to determine how, and how well, learners learn a foreign language. There are many variations on learning strategy. Arabic learning strategies for children include playing, singing, telling stories, projects, demonstration, and conversation. By using the suitable and fun strategy, children can develop their potential well and effectively. The selection of learning strategies depends on children’s ages and characteristics.

The article is devoted to the study of the features of the use of newspaper text on the lessons of Ukrainian language as a foreign language. The linguodidactic functions of the newspaper text in the process of studing the Ukrainian language: 1) familiarity with the culture and traditions of the Ukrainian people, features of the political, historical, economic life of the country; 2) expanding the background knowledge of foreigners; 3) enrichment of foreigners vocabulary; 4) acquaintance with the stylistic means and techniques of the language game; 5) illustration of language trends; 6) acquaintance with the basic concepts of textolinguistics, the formation of textual analysis skills; 7) development of communication skills; 8) increase learning motivation. The main criteria for the selection of newspaper texts for the study of Ukrainian as a foreign language: the level of language training of students; educational value of the text; the value of the text for the development of communicative competence; specialization of the addressee; national-psychological and national-cultural peculiarities of students; matching language trends. The main techniques for working with newspaper texts while studying Ukrainian as a foreign language: illustration, imitation, analysis, correction, translation.

The article validates feasibility of the investigational research of the problem of formation of the future teachers’ professional competencies by means of a computer-based methodology; it determines the author’s approach to the interpretation of the essence of the computer-based methodology for the formation of professional competencies of the future teachers; it specifies the structural components of the computer-based methodology of formation of professional competencies of the future teachers: goals (objectives) of learning, content of learning, forms of educational process organisation, methods and tools of learning; it specifies the most effective traditional and computer-based forms, methods and tools of learning of Pedagogical disciplines for the students obtaining a Bachelor’s degree. This article discusses the interconnectedness of open source education and tools of the computer-based methodology for the formation of professional competencies of the future teachers; it reveals the structural components of professional competencies (subject-learned area, information and digital, communicative, personality, creativity) of the future teachers; works out the criteria (motivation-based and goal-setting, professional and cognitive, vocational and cognitive, reflexive and evaluational components), indicators, and levels (based on the analysis level, elementary (reproductive) level, creative (advanced) level) of formation of professional competencies of the future teachers in the settings of educational process at higher education institutions; highlights a complex of general scientific theoretical, empirical and statistical methods and consolidated results of a pedagogical investigation (analytics and search, experimental (ascertaining and formative) and bottom-line and correctional stages) on the study of the problem of the formation of professional competencies of the future teachers by means of the computer-based methodology in the settings of learning the disciplines of Pedagogy.

This paper presents a study on how the selection of vocabulary learning strategies is affected by the kind of instructional programme followed. A total of one hundred thirty-eight secondary-school learners – seventy-two CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) and fifty-six mainstream EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learners – took part in the study. They were asked to respond a vocabulary learning strategies questionnaire. The data were examined looking into how the use of strategies differed when comparing CLIL and EFL learners. Results permitted to develop two clear learner profiles that were compared. These findings will be discussed in relation to their possible implications for vocabulary development.

The present article investigates foreign language teacher training quality enhancement by surveying pedagogical university students’ opinions on important aspects of the course of Introduction to Germanic Linguistics within the Educational Programme for Bachelor’s Degree in Education. The prime purpose is to study the perception of the above-mentioned optional course by Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University (DIFSPU) students, with a focus on its content, organization and relevance to foreign language teacher training as well as on its professional competence formation efficiency. The complexity of the problems involved requires a combination of different methods, i.e. empirical, theoretical and statistical ones. 42 undergraduate DIFSPU students majoring in 014 “Secondary Education (English Language and Literature)” and 014 “Secondary Education (German Language and Literature)” took part in the experiment. The main survey tool was a questionnaire reflecting the parameters of assessing the course of Introduction to Germanic Linguistics. The data collected provides a solid basis for the revision of the course content, structure, organization, educational significance and efficiency, based on the direct participants’ assessments and comments. The students’ feedback reveals: 1) unanimous approval of the content and organizational principles of the discipline; 2) mixed opinions on its importance in the structure of the Educational Programme for Bachelor's Degree in Education; 3) variability of the course efficiency assessments. The data obtained allow for determining the conditions of an efficient implementation of Introduction to Germanic Linguistics into educational practice, such as prior familiarization of students with its aim and essence, emphasis on its applicability and optionality as well as its adaptation to the level and needs of future teachers. The data interpretation equally contributes to establishing the prospects of enhancing the course: 1) proportionalizing diverse types of educational activities; 2) increasing flexibility and variability in the educative process organization; 3) more efficiently interiorizing its content in terms of professional education priorities for future teachers of the English and German languages.

Based on the accumulated experience of working with students in the classroom in Russian as a foreign language, in this article, we tried to formulate the basic principles of the selection of literary texts for reading, on which the language teaching process is built. The development of intercultural competence in classes in Russian as a foreign language involves the search for new ways and methods, the effectiveness of which should become the basis for further increasing motivation to the subject.

The article analyzes the topical questions of professional language training. Particular attention is paid to teaching of the reading skills as a type of oral activity. The article considers the problems of teaching different types of reading, taking into account the differences in language training level of students. Reading is considered to be anoral activity that contributes to the development of skills and abilities of oral communication. Itis also characterized as a teaching tool in terms of the content, basic principles of teaching, as well as the sequence of teaching. The authors, based on the classifications of reading types suggested by most scientists, offer their own types of tasks and ways of forming speech competence based on teaching professional reading. The ways of overcoming the difficulties of a foreign language text are proposed. The article also outlines the basic principles of teaching various types of reading.
