Abstract. In this study, ewes of "Merinolandschaf", a breed widespread in southern Germany, were crossed with rams of five meat breed types (Ile de France, Charollais, German black-headed mutton sheep (Deutsches Schwarzköpfiges Fleischschaf), Suffolk, Texel) and Merinolandschaf rams. The resulting lambs (179 individuals) were fattened intensively from 55.3 days and body weight of 20.4 kg until 121.7 days and a weight of 40.9 kg. While fattening, feed intake was recorded and lambs were weighed weekly. Ile de France × Merinolandschaf and Texel × Merinolandschaf seem to be of greatest economic interest for intensive fattening because they showed the best feed conversion rate and energetic feed conversion rate. Only these crosses were significantly superior compared to purebred Merinolandschaf in feed conversion rate and also in daily body weight gain during the fattening period. Except Charollais × Merinolandschaf, all crosses showed at least a tendency of improvement in all three traits compared to Merinolandschaf, although this is not always significant. This underlines the advantage of one-way cross-breeding for efficiently producing lamb meat. The growth was modelled with a linear model and the Gompertz model. The results showed that both models fit the data well, although the average R2 was slightly higher and the average mean square error was slightly lower for the Gompertz model. In addition, the use of the Gompertz model provided some interesting biological insights concerning the growth of lambs and differences between the crosses, even though the lambs were slaughtered before reaching their mature body weight.

Hungarian goose production and gene conservation practices have been a tradition in Hungary for several centuries. The old Hungarian geese can only be effectively maintained if the national programs can identify economic uses of the breed. This study aimed to examine the potential use of the Hungarian landrace goose (HL) either as a purebred or crossbred with the Hungarian Upgraded breed (HU). Crossbred offspring were produced by HL ganders and HU layers, as egg production of HL layers is very low. Reproduction traits (egg production, fertility and hatchability) of parent stocks, body weight gain, feed consumption and slaughter values (slaughter loss, breast and thigh weight and proportions) and of offspring were measured. The results showed that fertility in the crossbred geese was insignificant compared to the fertility of HL purebreds, while hatchability of crossbreds was higher than that of purebred HL or HU. HL offspring had significantly lower bodyweight and weight gain, and a higher feed conversion rate than HU. The proportion of valuable meat parts (breast and thigh) was the highest in HU while weight in slaughter loss was also the highest in HU. In terms of body weight, feed conversion rate and slaughter properties, crossbred offspring showed intermediate  inheritance. HL is recommended for crossbreeding with HU breeds and their offspring should be reared under free-range keeping conditions.

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of supplementing broiler chickens’ diets with halloysite on daily body weight gain (BWG), feed conversion ratio (FCR), daily water consumption (DWC), and some broiler house hygiene parameters. The trial was conducted on 18,000 broiler chickens divided into two groups throughout the 42-day (D) rearing period. The birds were fed complete diets without (group C) or with halloysite addition (1%, group E) from D8 of rearing. No difference in the mortality rate was observed between groups C and E. Birds from group E had a tendency (0.05 < p < 0.10) towards a higher body weight at D32 and D42, a higher BWG, and a lower FCR compared to group C during the entire rearing period. Average DWC differed only in the finisher period, with a tendency towards lower overall DWC in group E. The concentration of ammonia in the air from D21 to D35 was increased more than 5-fold in group C but only 1.5-fold in group E. In conclusion, the use of halloysite as a feed additive in the diet of broiler chickens resulted in a reduction in feed consumption per unit of BWG and higher utilisation of crude protein, which led to improved environmental conditions.

The study aims to evaluated thedetermine the effect of gave fermented corncob by probiotic MOIYL to performance of local rabbit. Research conducted at DesaBandar Klippa Deli Serdang and Agriculture Faculty of North Sumatera University, inJanuary – March 2018. The study used design experiment by completely randomizeddesign (CDR), which consists of 4 treatments and five replications. The treatmentconsisted of ration P0= unfermented ,P1 (10% corn cob fermented and 20%unfermented), P2 (20% corn cob fermented and 10% unfermented), and P3 (30% corncob fermented). Variable measured were feed consumption, daily body weight gain,feed conversion ratio and income over feed cost.The results showed that fermented ofcorn cob with probiotics MOIYL provide a significant effect (P<0,05) towards bodyweight gain, consumption and Income Over Feed Cost and does not have an effect (P>0.05) on the value of conversion. The conclusion from the results of this study is theprovision of fermented corn cobs using MOIYL can increase body weight gain,consumption and Income Over Feed Cost, and tend to reduce the value of feedconversion.

The aim of the study was to know the effect of Curcuma longa as herbal feed additive on feed consumption, daily body weight gain and feed conversion ratio of super native chicken. The research was conducted at Kemukus Village, Ketapang District, South Lampung Regency. The experimental used 80 unisex of super native chicken 5 weeks old. They were feed a ration with control ration + 0% turmeric flour (P0), control ration + 0,04% turmeric flour (P1), control ration + 0,08% turmeric flour (P2) and control ration + 0,12% turmeric flour (P3) during 30 days. The control ration containing 21% crude protein and 3150 kcal/kg metabolism energy. The study used a quantitative metodh with completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 4 replications. The results showed that the addition of turmeric flour (Curcuma longa) up to 0,12% was affected (P 0,05) on daily body weight gain and feed conversion ratio. The aim of the research was to study the effects of synchronization index in the sugarcane bagasse based complete feed on feed intake, daily body weight gain and feed conversion ratio of sheep. Two permanent cannulated male local sheep was 2 years old to create formulation of three diets with different synchronization index, namely 0.37; 0.50 and 0.63 respectively. Fifteen local male sheep with body weight average of 18,32 kg (cv= 14,39%) and aged at 12 months were feed a complete feed based on bagasse with a level of synchrony index 0,37; 0,50; 0,63 were design isoprotein and isoenergy. The treatments were allotted in a randomized block design with 3 treatments and 5 groups for in-vivo test. The feed intake, daily body weight gain and feed conversion ratio of fifteen rams were determined on week 8 of experimental period. This research aimed : 1) to investigate the effect of stocking density on feed consumption, body weight gain, and feed conversion rate of broiler aged 14—28 days in closed house; 2) to determaine the best stocking density on feed consumption, body weight gain, and feed conversion ratio of broiler aged 14—28 days in closed house. This research was conducted in closed house of PT. Charoen Pokphand (Kandang Bandara 2) located in Bangun Sari area of Way Sari village, Natar district, South Lampung regency.  This research was conducted for 28 days, with rearing broiler from day 1st—13th was without treatment, and then from day 14th—harvest with treatments,  that was conducted in April 2019—May 2019.  This research used completely randomized design with 4 treatments (15, 17, 19, and 21 stocking density of chickens m-2) and 5 replications.  Data obtained was analyzed using analysis on variance at 5% levels of significance and followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. Results showed that different stocking density of  15, 17, 19, and 21 chickens m-2 affected (P<0.05) on feed consumption (with feed consumption of broiler of stocking density of 15 chickens m-2 was significantly (P<0.05) lower than those of 17, 19, and 21 chickens m-2), but it did not affect (P>0.05) on body weight gain and feed conversion ratio of broiler in closed house.   Keywords: Body weight gain, Closed house, Feed consumption, Feed convertion rate, Cage density

EFFECTS OF ADDITIVES ADDITION (ENZYMES AND ORGANIC ACIDS) WITH HIGH AND LOW PROTEIN IN RICE BRAN BASE RATION ON RABBIT’S PERFORMANCE. A research evaluating the effectiveness of enzymes and organic acids in the rice bran-based with different protein content on the production performance of weaning rabbits. This research was conducted in March to May 2014 at the Livestock Research Center Ciawi. One hundred and twenty rabbits Rex and Reza of 900 -1400g body weight. The design used was factorial (2x4) based on Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 replications. Combinations treatment consisted of factors, namely the level of protein factor A: A1 = 14% protein and A2 = 18% protein and factor B the addition of additives (enzymes + Organic Acids) consisting of: B1 = Ration Basal; B2 = Ration Basal + Feed Enzymes; B3 = Feed Enzymes and propionic acid; B4 = Feed Enzymes and butyric acid. Variables measured were Feed Consumption, Daily Body Weight Gain, and Feed Conversion. Feed consumption in this research were 74.95 to 86.59 g/ head/ day. Analysis of variance showed that there were no significant effects of treatments on feed consumption (P> 0.05). Daily body weight gain of rabbits ranged from 11.73 to 16.74 g/head/day. There was a significant effect of treatment interaction on average daily body weight gain (P <0.05). Tukey test showed that Average Daily Gain (ADG) of rabbits fed  A2B3 16.74 g/ head/day (18% protein with the addition of enzyme and propionic acid) was significantly higher than the rabbits fed A1B3 11.73 g/head/day (14 % protein with the addition of enzymes and organic acids). The feed conversion in this research is about 4.93 to 6.60 g/head/day. There were significant difference among treatment on feed conversion (P> 0.05). It can be concluded that there is no need of additive supplement when the ration has fulfilled nutrient requirement on 14 % and 18 % protein. Keywords: Rabbit, Rice Bran, Enzymes, Organic Acids
