The good quality patchouli plants, it takes patchouli cuttings that have good initial vegetative growth. The initial vegetative growth in plants is an important phase that supports the further growth of patchouli until the productive phase. To produce patchouli plants with good initial vegetative growth, fertilization is necessary to ensure the availability of nutrients needed in the metabolic process of patchouli plants. Patchouli plants require adequate amounts of nutrients, especially macro nutrients such as nitrogen and others which can be done by administering NPK with the right dose and frequency of administration. The results showed that (1) the treatment of patchouli cuttings (treatment B) had a very significant effect on the growth of patchouli at week 2,4,6,8,10 and 12 WAP. Meanwhile, the concentration of liquid NPK fertilizer (treatment A) had a very significant effect only at the age of 10 and 12 WAP for the number of leaves. (2) The treatment of the number of patchouli cuttings (treatment B) had a significant effect on the growth of patchouli at week 4 WAP, had a very significant effect at week 2,6,8 and 12 WAP. As for the treatment, the concentration of liquid NPK fertilizer (treatment A) had a significant effect on week 8 MST and had a very significant effect at week 10 and 12 MST for the number of shoots (3) There was an interaction between the two treatments, namely at the age of 10 and 12 MST while on the number of shoots only occurred at the age of 12 MST

penurunan kualitas selama transportasi.
Agustus 2004. Percobaan disusun dalam rancangan petak terbagi (RPT)
dengan 3 ulangan. Petak utama (main plot) adalah 2 jenis setek nilam
yaitu: (1) setek berdaun dan (2) setek tidak berdaun. Anak petak (sub plot)
adalah lama penyimpanan setek yaitu: (1) setek langsung ditanam
(kontrol), (2) setek disimpan 1 hari, (3) setek disimpan 3 hari, (4)setek
disimpan 5 hari dan, (5) setek disimpan 7 hari. Pengamatan dilakukan
sejak tanaman berumur 2 minggu sampai tanaman berumur 8 minggu.
berdaun.
Kata kunci : Nilam, Pogostemon cablin Benth, bibit, setek berakar,
penyimpanan, pertumbuhan, Jawa Barat
ABSTRACT
Effect of storage periods of rooted cutting on the growth
of patchouli (Pogostemon cablin Benth)
Providing high quality of patchouli (Pogostemon cablin Benth)
seedlings is necessary to support the development of patchouli plants. In
the new developing area transportation become serious problems (high
cost transportation), therefore some alternative solution is reducing the
transportation cost without reducing the quality of the seedlings. Base on
the problems, this experiment was conducted. The objective of this
experiment was to study the effect of storage periods of rooted cuttings on
the growth of patchouli plant. The experiment was conducted in the green
house of Indonesian Spice and Medicinal Crops Research Institute
(ISMECRI), from April to August 2004. The experiment was arranged in
a split-plot design with 3 replications. The main plot was 2 kinds of cutting
there were: (1) leaf cutting and (2) non leaf cutting. The sub plot was 5
different storage periods, there were: (1) control (no storage), (2)1 day
storage, (3) 3 day storage, (4) 5 day storage, (5) 7 day storage. The
variables observed were plant growth (plant height, number of leaves and
number of shoots), dry weight of stems, leaves and roots. The results of
experiment indicated that after 7 day storage, rooted cuttings of patchouli
were still 100% viable. The growth of patchouli from leaf cutting was
significantly different from non leaf cutting. Patchouli plant from leaf
cutting produced higher plant height, number of leaves, number of shoots
and dry weight of plants compared to those of patchouli plants from non
leaf cuttings. Storage period significantly affected the height of plants
however it did not significantly affected the number of leaves, number of
shoots and dry weight of plants.
Key words: Pacthouli, Pogostemon cablin, seedlings, rooted cutting,
storage, growth, West JavE

Experiments were carried out in the Nursery of the Department of Forestry and Environmental Management, the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike in Abia State during 2016 and 2017 cropping seasons to determine the effect of NPK fertilizer on the growth performance of three selected crops, Zea mays, Abelmoschus esculentus and Vigna unguiculata grown on a derelict kaolin mined soil. The experiment comprised of treatment pots which has three rates of fertilizer on the kaolin soil each (kaolin soil +NPK (40 kg), kaolin soil + NPK (30 kg) and kaolin soil + NPK (20 kg) kaolin soil with zero treatment (Control 2) and a control 1(un-mined) soil, it was replicated three in Complete Randomized Design (CRD). Parameters assessed include Plant height (cm) and the number of leaves weekly for six (6) weeks. Data were analysed using ANOVA at p< 0.05. The result obtained showed that growth performance of the test crops was positively affected by NPK treatment based on the quantity applied with the highest recorded height (16.50) and the number of the leaf (11.27) in Kaolin mined soil combined with 40 kg of fertilizer when compared with the control. Plant height obtained with various fertilizer treatments were in the order: 16.50>15.99>14.65 and 11.27>10.20>9.01 for the number of leaves. The result of the macro element levels in the plants showed that the nutrient uptake and accumulation were enhanced by both NPK fertilizer and the quantity added with the highest level of nutrient on the plants obtained in Kaolin soil combined with 40kg of NPK fertilizer. The study showed that kaolin mined degraded soil can be put into good use with the appropriate concentration of fertilizer treatment, thus putting more degraded land under agricultural production and ensuring food security is developing country like Nigeria. The study further suggests a sensitization program for farmers on the appropriate concentration of inorganic fertilizer to be applied to their farmers to avoid pollution.

Ketak (Lygodium circinnatum (Burm.F) Sw.) is one of the main species of non-timber forest products (NTFPs) in West Nusa Tenggara. Ketak produce tendrils that was used as a raw material for the woven handicraft industry. The sustainability of the handicraft business has constraints in decreasing the supply of raw materials because the potential is very reduced in nature so that it is necessary to make efforts to cultivate L. circinnatum plants. The aim of the study was to determine the success of planting L. circinnatum with fertilization and different types of vines. The research used a randomized block design which was arranged factorially with a combination of different types of fertilizers (goat manure, cow manure, NPK fertilizer) and vine trees (Gliricidia sepium, Erythrina variegata, bamboo). For six months, the application of fertilizers and different types of climbing stems significantly affected the increase in tendril length and number of leaves and there was an interaction between the two treatments tested; while the increase in the number of tendrils and life percentage occurred the effect of a single treatment. Goat fertilizer and climbing species G. sepium were the best treatments for the increase in tendril length (73.4 cm) and number of leaves (88 sheet). The best NPK fertilizer treatment for the growth of the number of tendrils (3 tendrils), climbing species G. sepium and goat manure produced the highest percentage of life (80.42% and 85.56%)

Indian mustard plants are the main vegetable crops consumed by urban communities. The need for this vegetable increases along with the increase in culinary tourism in each region and the government's appeal on sustainable food home. One effort made to meet the needs of vegetable mustard in urban areas can be cultivated using polybags. The main problem of vegetable cultivation on polybags is the availability of soil media. To overcome the limitations of soil media it is attempted to substitute it with organic litter enriched with MOL (local microorganisms). The purpose of research is to find the right combination of planting media for mustard plants. The results showed that the composition of K7 = soil: compost: litter of hay: litter of maize (2: 1: 1: 1) best on plant length, number of leaves, length of root leaves and number of roots while the wet weight of mustard plant (g) K7 = soil: compost: litter of maize: litter of corn (2: 1: 1: 1) and K8 = soil: compost: litter of maize: litter of maize: cocopeat (2: 1: 1: 1: 1) or soil: compost + urea. Increased weights of wet mustard by 63% compared to soil media and 20% compared to soil composition: compost + urea. Organic straw in the form of straw: litter of corn stalk: cocopeat enriched with MOL are able to become ready-made planting media on the cultivation of indian mustard plants in polybags.
