Active Learning Classrooms are new learning spaces that allow collaborative learning activities to take place easily over the traditional classroom. However, some features of these rooms could be viewed as “distracting” to students’ learning such as the multiple interactive screens. The purpose of this paper is to begin the conversation on how subtle roles in the learning environment could impact learning. Using a case study approach, an activity from one course was chosen that exemplified how peers outside students’ immediate group can influence their learning. Based on the preliminary findings, it is suggested that being aware of these subtle roles peers outside the group can have on students and making them explicit in the pedagogical design of the course can lead to maximizing the usage of the space to potentially foster greater learning.

In oder to increase farmers' income, innovation is needed in agriculture business that focuses on empowering farmers as the main actors. An agricultural ecosystem is needed that puts farmers on par with other stakeholders. So a digital agricultural ecosystem is designed, inspired by SFVCD FAO and the writer’s experience in accompanying farmers from 2015 to 2019. The design of this agricultural digital ecosystem ensures the role of digital technology so that the ecosystem can run openly, fairly and get commitment from all stakeholders in its implementation. The purpose of this preliminary study is to determine the feasibility of designing agricultural digital ecosystems by knowing farmers' perception of the 3 benefits of the design of the agricultural digital ecosystem in providing opportunities to increase farmers' income. The design of this agricultural digital ecosystem ensures the position of farmers on a par with other stakeholders, namely market providers, cultivation ordinance providers, production facilities providers, technology providers, fund providers and ecosystem guarantors. The use of digital technology to ensure that the ecosystem can run openly, fairly and get commitment from all stakeholders in its implementation. This digital ecosystem relies on recording activities and transactions digitally by farmers and other stakeholders in line with the increasing literacy of digital technology among agricultural businesses. This research uses case study approach of papaya farmers in Yogyakarta. The results of this research showed that the stakeholder of papaya farmers in Yogyakarta is only one buyer of harvest or offtaker. As for agriculture practices provider and funding does not involve other parties or made / borne by farmers themselves. The results showed that the benefits of price certainty at the beginning and certainty of procedures and means of production in the design of the digital ecosystem of agriculture are perceived by farmers as an opportunity to increase farmers' income, while the benefits of funding availability is perceived by farmers as a chance of reducing farmers' income. Farmers give input on the need for proof of success in the procedures of cultivation and production advice and make the availability of funds as an option (not mandatory) in the development of the next agricultural digital ecosystem design Keywords: Digital Agro Ecosystem, Farmers Income, Farmers Empowerment

An exploratory case study approach was used to describe remote tutoring in biochemistry and general chemistry with students who are deaf or hard of hearing (D/HH). Data collected for analysis were based on the observations of the participant tutor. The research questions guiding this study included (1) How is active learning accomplished in synchronous, remote tutoring for chemistry and biochemistry with students who are D/HH? and (2) Why might active learning be important to include in synchronous, remote tutoring for this student population? Findings included that (a) students approached remote tutoring with the same questions and materials they brought to in-person tutoring and (b) the degree to which tutoring materials could be imbedded into a remote session influenced the session’s efficiency and the ability of students to actively participate in remote tutoring.

Hospitals control costs without reducing the service quality by using clinical pathways. Clinical pathways control the quality and cost of cases that consume large resources. According to Presidential Regulation No. 12 of 2013 regarding Health Insurance, the implementation of clinical pathways to diagnosis that consumes large resources is an effort to control costs and quality of patient services in the INA CBGs system. The preliminary study conducted found a large difference between the real hospital rate and the INA CBGs rate on the diagnosis of Manic Type Schizoaffective Disorder for 3 (three) consecutive years. If this situation continues, the impact will be financial losses for the hospital. The purpose of the study is to analyze the implementation of the Manic Type Schizoaffective’s clinical pathway at the Grhasia Mental Hospital. This research method is qualitative with a case study approach. The results of the Clinical Pathway study can reduce the length of stay for Manic Type Schizoaffective patients but it is not yet effective for patient care costs.

The aims of the study were to investigate English teachers’ questioning strategies at one Madrasah in Palembang, South Sumatera. The qualitative research method with a case study approach was employed to look at the ways of the English teachers’ questioning strategies in the processes of teaching and learning and the reasons that made them use certain questioning strategies. The participants in this study were English teachers. We used observation and interviews as our data collection techniques. The observation was used to look at the teacher’s questioning types used in the daily practices of teaching in the EFL classroom while the interview was used to understand the reasons that made them use those types of questioning strategies. Our findings showed three types of teacher’s questioning strategies used by teachers in their teaching and learning processes including convergent, divergent, and procedural questions. Teachers mostly used convergent questions (yes/no and short answers). We also found five reasons why teachers preferred to those types of questioning strategies including recalling students’ understanding, attracting students’ attention, increasing students’ thinking in higher order level, and engaging students in learning activities. Implications and recommendations are also discussed.

More effective methods are needed to meet the Planning Accreditation Board’s requirement to teach all master’s students about the “global dimensions of planning.” Our survey of accredited US planning programs confirms that field-based courses, traditionally the most effective option, are costly and time-consuming and are therefore occasional, rather than regular, options for exposing students to international planning practice. Based on active learning theories, we suggest that a deliberative learning, case-based approach can facilitate many of the learning outcomes that make travel courses so attractive while also making internationally oriented pedagogies available to a wider range of students and programs.

Abstract: the Paradigm of Islamic Legal School Adherents in Pondok Pesantren (Islamic boarding school) of South Kalimantan.
