Objective of the research was to study the effect of application time of biourine  plus and dosages of urea fertilizer on increasing the growth and production of rice. The research applied the Split Plot Design by 3 replications. The main plot is the application time of biourine that comprises of 2 levels: in the morning and in the afternoon. The sub plot is the dosage of urea fertilizer that comprises of 5 levels: 0, 150, 200, 250 and 300 kg ha-1. Result of the research showed a significant interaction between time of application of biourine plus and dosage of urea fertilizer on diverse-observed parameters and ages. On parameter of growth, the application time in the morning and dosage of urea fertilizer 250 kg ha-1 and application time in the morning by dosage of urea fertilizer 300 kg ha-1 could increase plant leaf, area indexs heigth, numbers of plantlet per clump, which are better than other treatments. On parameter of yield, the application time in the morning and dosage of urea fertilizer 250 kg ha-1 and application time in the morning and dosage of urea 300 kg ha-1 could increase numbers of panicle per clump and weight of harvested dry spikelets per hectare, which are better than other treatments.

A Field trial was conducted at the aerobic rice experimental field of the NationalCereals Research Institute (NCRI), Badeggi, Nigeria (9 ° 04 N and 6° 7 E)in 2007 and 2008 wet seasons to determine the weed competitiveness andperformance of inter Ã¢â‚¬Â and intra‐specific aerobic rice (Oryza sativa L.) varietiesunder seven weeding regimes. The trial was laid out in a split plot designwith the two varieties of rice (NERICA 1 as inter Ã¢â‚¬Âspecific and FARO 46 asintra Ã¢â‚¬Âspecific) assigned to the main plot while seven weeding regimes (hoeweeding at 25, 45, and 65 days after sowing (DAS), 25 DAS, 45 DAS, 25 and45 DAS, application of 3’,3’ Ã¢â‚¬Â dichloropropionanilide /2, 4 – Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (orizo plus R) by Candel Company Ltd. at 3.5 kg active ingredient(ai )ha Ã¢â‚¬Â1 at 25 DAS, hoe weeding at 25 DAS followed by orizo plus at 3.5 kg aiat 45 DAS and weedy check) constituted the sub – plots. The treatmentswere replicated three times in a split plot design. From the results, interspecificvariety (NERICA1) had better weed suppression ability with highergrain yield of 3.1 t ha Ã¢â‚¬Â1 than the intra‐specific variety (FARO 46). Weed controlwas better when hoe weeding was done at 25, 45 and 65 DAS or 25 and45 DAS and at 25 DAS followed by orizo plus at 45 DAS than in other treatments.However, hoe weeding at 25, 45 and 65 DAS gave significantlygreater grain yield than other treatments. Although economic yield was obtainedfrom hoe weeding at 25 DAS followed by orizo plus at 45 DAS.

Abstract. Mawarni L, Nisa TC, Napitupulu JA, Karyudi. 2019. Determination of leaf status of soybean varieties on shading. Biodiversitas 20: 615-620. The shading tolerant soybean varieties could be identified through the character growth such as leaf status. This study was aimed to obtain the shading tolerant of soybean variety based on their seed size and on the leaf status. Design of experiments was a split-plot design with three replications. The level of shading as the main plot with four levels of treatment was without shading, 30%, 50%, and 70% shading. Soybean varieties as the subplot had 4 genotypes namely Anjasmoro, Pangrango, Tanggamus, and Nanti wherein one variety comes with large seed; two come with medium seeds and the other one comes with small seed. The leaf status for determination was the greenness of leaves, the sum of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, total chlorophyll a and b, the forms of chloroplasts and leaf area. The soybean varieties with different seed sizes showed the differences only on the leaf area but not on leaf greenness or on the sum of chlorophyll. Nanti variety, having small seed, turns out to have the largest leaf area but is not shade tolerant. The large leaf area may be due to the forming of tetra foliate leaves on Nanti variety. The form of chloroplast of Anjasmoro variety in 70% shading is better than other varieties. Therefore, determining leaf status can identify shading tolerant of soybeans.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh jarak tanam dan varietas terhadap keragaman serangga serta hasil pada tanaman padi. Penelitian dilakukan di lahan percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Garut pada Bulan November 2017 sampai Maret 2018. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Petak Terbagi (RPT, Split Plot Design) dengan empat ulangan. Varietas (V) sebagai petak utama (Main Plot) dengan dua taraf, yaitu: varietas Ciherang (v1) dan varietas Sunan Ambu (v2). Jarak tanam (J) berperan sebagai anak petak (Sub Plot) terdiri dari empat taraf, yaitu: Legowo 2:1 20 cm x 20 cm x 40 cm (j1), Tegel 25 cm x 25 cm (j2), Legowo 2:1 30 cm x 30 cm x 50 cm (j3) dan Tegel 30 cm x 30 cm (j4). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tidak terjadi interaksi antara varietas padi dan jarak tanam terhadap keragaman serangga serta hasil pada tanaman padi. Kombinasi perlakuan varietas Sunan Ambu dengan jarak tanam legowo 2:1 (30 cm x 30 cm x 50 cm) mampu menekan keberadaan serangga hama hingga jumlahnya seimbang dengan serangga predator.Varietas Ciherang menunjukkan penampilan terbaik pada bobot gabah basah per plot. Varietas Sunan Ambu menunjukkan penampilan terbaik pada jumlah malai dan bobot 1000 butir. Jarak tanam legowo 2:1 (30 cm x 30 cm x 50 cm) memberikan pengaruh terbaik pada jumlah malai. Jarak tanam tegel (30 cm x 30 cm) memberikan pengaruh terbaik pada bobot gabah basah per plot. Bobot 1000 butir tidak berbeda nyata untuk semua perlakuan jarak tanam. Kata kunci : Padi, serangga, jarak tanam.

<p>ABSTRACT<br /><br />The efforts to develop and increase rice production in tidal land need appropriate technologies including adaptable superior varieties and efficient seed planting system. This study was aimed to measure the agronomic characteristic of the three rice varieties on the systems of in-row direct seeding and broadcast in tidal land. The experiment was carried out at type B of tidal land in Sidoharjo Village, Air Saleh Subdistrict, Banyuasin District, from January to April 2016. The experiment was conducted using split plot design with four replications. The main plot was seed planting system, consisted of in-row direct seeding system and broadcast system; whereas subplot was three rice varieties, consisted of  Inpari 22,  Inpara 4, and Ciherang.  Result of LSD test on interaction showed that though the best growth was obtained from the combination of Inpari 22 and in-row direct seeding and  very significant  with the others, but its yield was not significant with the combination of Inpara 4 and in-row direct seeding. It was concluded that Inpari 22 and Inpara 4 with in-row direct seeding system showed better growth and higher yield than Inpari 22, Inpara 4 and Ciherang with broadcast system in tidal lands. Ciherang was not suitable in tidal land, while Inpari 22 was suitable.<br /><br />Keywords: broadcast system, in-row direct seeding system, production</p>

The research aims to study the effect of mixture of cocopeat and rock phosphate on growth and yield of three varieties of upland rice in Ultisols medium. The research was conducted at the Green House of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru from March to August 2017. The research used Split Plot Design. The main plot were upland rice consist of three varieties (Situ Bagendit, Situ Patenggang and Inpago 8). The subplots were mixture of cocopeat 10 t ha-1 with rock phosphate (RP) doses 0, 30, 45, and 60 P2O5 kg ha-1. The parameters observed were plant height, number of maximum tillers and productive tillers, panicle length, flowering age, number of grain panicle-1, weight of dry milled grain and weight of 1000 grain. The results showed that the application of mixture of cocopeat doses 10 t ha-1 and RP doses 30 – 60 P2O5 kg ha-1 have effect to plant height, panicle length, and weight 1000 grain for Situ Bagendit, Situ Patenggang and Inpago 8 compare to without RP, but tended increase number of maximum and productive tillers and decrease flowering age. The application cocopeat doses 10 t ha-1 and RP doses 30 P2O5 kg ha-1 increased number of filled grain panicle-1 and weight of dry milled grain on three varieties, weight of dry milled grain Situ Patenggang > Inpago 8 > Situ Bagendit on each doses of RP and have number of productive tillers of these varieties 1,5 – 2  is greater than its descriptions.Keywords : rock phosphate, ultisol, upland rice

The Experiment  was aimed to assess influence of concentration and application of biological agent Paenibacillus polymixa to bacterial leaf blight disease and  black rice yields  (Oryza sativa L.) local varieties The research was conducted in P4S Al Mukhlis   Kiangroke Village, Bandung District, West Java. In December 2016 until April 2017. The experiment used a split-plot design with two factor : 3 application period (W) as the main plot and 4 concentration level (K) as the subplot, thus obtained 12 treatment combinations and each combination was repeated 3 times. Then obtained 36 plot of experiment. Factor I main plot (W) : W1 = morning application (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 days after planting), W2 = daytime (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 days after planting), W3 = afternoon application (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 days after planting) and factor II (K) : K1 = Control, K2 = 5 ml L-1, K3 = 10 ml L-1, K4 = 15 ml L-1. The result showed that the effect of concentration  and time of application of biological agent of Paenibacillus polymixa gave no significant effect on plant height, disease intensity, number of productive tillers, number of the dry grain harvest, number of unhulled grain per panicle, and weight of 1000 filled grains. There was an interaction between concentration and time of application of biological agent of Paenibacillus polymixa to bacterial leaf blight disease intensity at age of 95 DAP, treatment of K3 (10ml L-1) with W1 (morning application)   gave more resistance effect to bacterial leaf blight intensity.

Padi merupakan komoditas tanaman pangan penghasil beras yang menjadi makanan pokok lebih dari setengah penduduk dunia dan memegang peranan penting dalam kehidupan ekonomi Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh sistem tanam dan jarak tanam terhadap dominasi gulma, pertumbuhan dan hasil padi di Desa Depok Cisompet Kabupaten Garut. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Oktober 2017 sampai Februari 2018. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimental menggunakan Rancangan Petak Terpisah (Split Plot Design) dengan faktor pertama sebagai main plot adalah sistem tanam (S) terdiri dari 3 taraf perlakuan, yaitu : s1 = Sistem Organik, s2 = Sistem Tanpa Olah Tanah (TOT), dan s3 = Sistem Konvensional, sedangkan faktor kedua sebagai sub plot adalah jarak tanam (J) terdiri dari 4 taraf perlakuan, yaitu : j1 = 20 x 20 x 40 cm, j2 = 30 x 30 x 50 cm, j3 = 25 x 25 cm, dan j4 = 30 x 30 cm, kombinasi perlakuan sebanyak 12 yang diulang 3 kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi interaksi antara sistem tanam dengan jarak tanam terhadap tinggi tanaman umur 40 HST, dan tinggi tanaman umur 60 HST. Secara mandiri sistem tanam organik memberikan pengaruh terbaik terhadap jumlah anakan dan jumlah anakan produktif, sedangkan sistem konvensional memberikan pengaruh terbaik terhadap bobot gabah per rumpun dan bobot 1000 butir gabah kering panen, serta terdapat gulma dominan yang berbeda pada sistem organik dengan sistem TOT dan sistem konvensional. Kata Kunci : Sistem Tanam, Jarak Tanam, Gulma, Oryza sativa L.

Penelitian ini telah di lakukan di Desa Purwodadi Kecamatan Padang Sidimpuan Batunadua Kota Padangsidimpuan Provinsi Sumatera Utara dari bulan Mei sampai dengan bulan Agustus 2017. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji beberapa jenis mulsa dalam mengendalikan gulma pada beberapa varietas tanaman padi sawah dengan metode System Of Rice Intensification. Percobaan ini menggunakan Rancangan Petak Terpisah (Split plot design) dalam pola RAK dengan dua faktor. Faktor utama adalah varietas padi sawah yang terdiri dari tiga taraf perlakuan yaitu varitas Aryze H6444, varitas Situ Bagendit dan varitas Siganteng. Faktor anak petak adalah penggunaan mulsa yang terdiri dari empat taraf perlakuan yaitu jerami padi, sekam padi, titonia dan mulsa plastik hitam.Varitas Aryze H6444 Gold dan varitas Siganteng menunjukkan hasil terbaik pada penggunaan mulsa plastik, sedangkan varitas Situ Bagendit menunjukkan hasil terbaik pada mulsa jerami padi. Jenis gulma Ludwigia octovalvis merupakan gulma yang mendominasi pada pemberian mulsa jerami padi, sekam padi dan mulsa plastik. Sedangkan pada mulsa Titonia jenis gulma yang mendominasi adalah gulma Eleusine indica. Penggunaan mulsa plastik lebih baik dari pada penggunaan mulsa Titonia, mulsa jerami padi dan sekam padi dalam menekan pertumbuhan gulma pada tanaman padi sawah dengan sistem SRI. Kata Kunci : pengendalian gulma, jenis mulsa, beberapa varitas,metode SRI.

AbstractReduced pathogen resistance and management of the left-over rice stubble are among the most important challenges faced in rice cultivation. A novel and eco-friendly strategy to synthesise ‘Fungal Chitosan’ (FC) from Aspergillus niger using rice straw could serve as a sustainable treatment approach to improve both disease resistance and yields, while also effectively managing the rice stubble waste. The FC treatment promoted germination as well as growth parameters in rice varieties, TN1 (high yielding-susceptible) and PTB33 (low yielding-resistant) better than a commercial chitosan (PC). Treatments of exogenously applied FC to plants produced direct toxicity to Xoo, and reduced the BLB disease index by 39.9% in TN1. The capability of FC to trigger a cascade of defense pathways was evident from the measurable changes in the kinetics of defense enzymes, peroxidase (POD) and polyphenol oxidase (PPO). FC treatment increased levels of POD in TN1 by 59.4%, which was 35.3% greater than that of untreated PTB33. Therefore, the study demonstrated the effectiveness of FC treatments for use in agriculture as a potential biostimulant as well as protective agent against bacterial leaf blight, BLB, of rice (Oryza sativa) that could be produced from stubble waste and improve rice stubble management strategies.
