Kata Kunci :Performa, Transmisi, CVT, Variasi RollerThe growing automotive world is demanding changes so that transportation is better, not only in the fuel-efficient engine but also in the level of comfort in driving. One of them is a change in the transmission system. The purpose of this final project research is to determine the working principle and the effect of variations in the weight of the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) roller on the 110cc Yamaha Mio Soul motorcycle. This research process uses an experimental method. This study tested the variation of roller weight using a size of 7 grams, 10.5 grams and 13 grams. After changing the roller, it is expected to improve the performance of the 4 stroke combustion motor. The research method used is an experimental method by holding the throttle at 3000 rpm, after it is stable then the throttle is rotated slowly at intervals of 1000 rpm to 7000 rpm. From the results of measurement analysis for the results of roller variation testing, if using a roller that weighs 13 grams increases engine performance ie torque of 3.2 (Nm) and gets maximum power of 2.34 (kW) at 7000 rpm engine speed, specific fuel relatively economical only 0.772 (kg/kWh) and thermal efficiency 10.41 (%). This happens because the weight of the roller affects the centrifugal force on the primary pulley so that the heavier the roller, the machine at high speed, the stronger the V belt belt will be clamped. so at high speed to transfer greater torque and power to the rear wheels. A conventional asymmetric twin-scroll turbine with wastegate is capable of effectively tackling down the contradiction between fuel economy degradation and low nitrogen oxide emissions. However, as the engine speed has been rising at middle- and high-speed ranges, the pressure of small scroll inlet will be increasingly higher as compared with the intake pressure, thereby worsening fuel economy. In this study, a novel turbocharging technology of asymmetric twin-scroll turbine with a balance valve was first analyzed to more effectively balance the engine fuel economy and emission. The experiments on turbine test rig and engine performance were performed to explore the effects of balance valve on turbine performance, asymmetric ratio, exhaust gas recirculation rate, as well as engine performance. As the balance valve open degree was elevated, the turbine flow parameter was being extended, while the turbine efficiency was enhanced. Moreover, a lower asymmetric ratio could lead to a broader flow parameter range between that of partial admission and equal admission, thereby resulting in a broader regulating range of exhaust gas recirculation rate. In contrast with the asymmetric twin-scroll turbine with wastegate, the turbine running efficiency of asymmetric twin-scroll turbine with balance valve was enhanced by nearly 2%–11% at middle and high engine speed ranges, while the fuel economy was improved by nearly 1.5%–8%.

Cooling system has an important role in motor vehicles, because its function is to maintain the working temperature of the engine, so that the temperature does not exceed the threshold (over heating), due to the frequent causes of excessive heat due to the use of cooling water in the radiator. The research method used is an experimental method, where the aim is to determine the effect of coolant on engine temperature from the use of several types of coolant additives. The cooling water used is coolant 30/70 pre-mixed and coolant predilute 33%. This test is carried out at rounds of [600, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000] RPM. The object of this research is the Toyota Avanza Type E 1300 CC M/T. From the results of research on engine temperature data with the use of coolant 30/70 Pre-mixed at various variations of engine speed obtained an average temperature of 94.13 OC. While the use of coolant predilute 33%, the average temperature in testing reaches 94.4 OC. Based on the description of the results of the test data that has been done, it was concluded that the use of coolant 30/70 pre-mixed and coolant predilute 33% has the same effect on the temperature of the Toyota Avanza Type-E 1300 CC M/T engine.

Increasing requirements for vehicle confort, economy and reliability lead some investigators to consider the relationships between the mechanical vibrations with the heat and fluid flow induced vibration and noise in a more accurate manner. This paper describes the variation of the vibration phenomena associated with the motion of some engine components under different operating conditions. The measured vibration spectra indicates its capability in predicting symptoms of early engine failures, hence, expediting their control using a suitable feedback system. Parametric studies involving the effect of air-fuel ratio, ignition timing and engine speed on the vibration pattern are also carried out. These studies indicate that the amplitude of vibration decreases as the speed increases then increases again after certain engine speed. The effect of ignition system characteristic on the induced vibration are obtained and the correlation between the developed power and the engine dynamics over a range of operating conditions are discussed.

This paper presents an experimental investigation on the influence of engine speed on the combustion characteristics of a Gardener compression ignition engine fueled with rapeseed methyl esther (RME). The engine has a maximum power of 14.4 kW and maximum speed of 1500 rpm. The experiment was carried out at speeds of 750 and 1250 rpm under loads of 4, 8, 12, 16 and 18 kg. Variations of cylinder pressure with crank angle degrees and cylinder volume have been examined. It was found that RME demonstrated short ignition delay primarily due to its high cetane number and leaner fuel properties (equivalence ratio (φ) = 0.22 at 4kg). An increase in thermal efficiency but decrease in volumetric efficiency was recorded due to increased brake loads. Variations in fuel mass flow rate, air mass flow rate, exhaust gas temperatures and equivalence ratio with respect to brake mean effective pressure at engine speeds of 750 and 1250 rpm were also demonstrated in this paper. Higher engine speed of 1250 rpm resulted in higher fuel and air mass flow rates, exhaust temperature, brake power and equivalent ratio but lower volumetric efficiency. Keywords— combustion characteristics, engine performance, engine speed, rapeseed methyl Esther

Piston prover has been widely used as a gas flow standard for its advantages of high accuracy in standard volume, flow stability and repeatability. It has also been employed as the primary gas flow standard in many countries to calibrate meters. However, it is difficult to ensure the uniformity of the inside dimension of the piston, thus the application of conventional piston provers are limited by the maximum calibration flow generated by the piston cylinder volume. In this paper, an improved piston gas prover that mainly consists of two uniform plungers was proposed. Their external diameter constitutes the flow standard. The plungers are driven by servo motor, and the high speed fieldbus EtherCAT has been introduced as the control unit. Hence the two pistons could work collaboratively and operate in three modes: single-piston mode, double-pistons parallel mode, and double-pistons reciprocating mode. Besides generating steady-flow rate, the double-plunger prover can even produce an unsteady-flow rate which could be used to research the dynamic characteristics of flow meters. The structure and working principle of the three modes were carefully introduced. Then experiments for calibrating critical nozzles were carried out, and the results show that the repeatability of the discharge coefficient could be better than 0.06%, and the pressure fluctuation during the process was less than 50 Pa.
