Summary. Students of dentistry faculties need a special methodological approach aimed at the acquisition of practical skills, but the study of fundamental disciplines is different from the dental-oriented ones. The aim of the study – to assess presumed deficits in the histology, cytology, and embryology knowledge of dentistry students at O. Bohomolets National Medical University, to identify the problems associated with it, and to address them. Materials and Methods. Testing of students of different courses of O. Bohomolets National Medical University using the standard licensed examination tests ‘‘Step 1 Dentistry’’. Results and Discussion. Students of the dentistry faculty have shown the level of students’ knowledge at 4th and 5th years – 33.5 %. The general result of the ‘‘Step 1 Dentistry’’ license exam in the same students is 66.6 % (2019) and 62.2 % (2018), respectively. The percentage of this result of the test higher when checked professional direct knowledge. We found that it was determined the prevalence of correct answers in the block on the topic "Oral Cavity" at the test on histology, cytology and embryology of  O. Bohomolets NMU Dentistry Faculty different courses students. Conclusions. In accordance with the obtained results and the analysis of the problems, it is recommended to make adjustments to the curricula and control measures with a focus on the competencies that will be applied in professional activities.

The article presents the results of a survey of senior medical students aimed at identifying the problems of distance learning in terms of the formation of practical skills and communicative competence. The relevance of the study is due to the fact that at the present time the world is undergoing major changes not only in the field of health, but also in education. One of the primary tasks of higher education is the formation of professional competencies of future specialists. Communicative competence refers to the basic component in the medical profession, so its formation is given great importance in the process of teaching students. However, due to the fact that there was a difficult situation in the country and the world, students began to be transferred to distance learning, which could not but affect the formation of communicative competence and the development of practical skills by students. A huge number of students switched to distance learning, including a number of disciplines were taught online, including students of the medical University. However, this has led to difficulties in the formation of communicative and practice-oriented competencies among senior medical students. In connection with the above, the aim of the study was a comprehensive assessment of the problems in the formation of communicative and practice-oriented competencies of senior medical students in distance learning. Based on the obtained data the proposed methods for the solution of identified problems with the use of distance learning.

The educational process in Ukraine, that is undergoing reform due to the introduction of the European Credit Transfer System, requires the improvement of the basic forms of education, namely lectures. This is due to the dynamic development of scientific advances in medicine, the appearance of innovative technologies, the growth of requirements for the formation of a competitive specialist, a doctor who constantly needs to improve his/her knowledge and practical skills in particular. The questionnaire of student audience helps clarify the advantages and disadvantages of the teaching material presented during the lecture and the level of mastering the key moments of the lecture by students. We present the results of a questionnaire of students about the lecture delivered at the Department of Cinical Anatomy and Operative Surgery.

Self work is a form of management and self-management activity for students, whose main purpose is to consolidate, expand and deepen the knowledge, skills and abilities acquired during the classroom work process, as well as the independent study and mastering of new material. For the effective fulfillment of students self extracurricular work by the Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University all necessary conditions (library, reading room, computer classes, etc.) are created; teachers consult in educational and practical centers, which contains a list of practical skills in the relevant disciplines and provides an algorithm for their implementation. The organization of self extracurricular work is carried out in five stages: preparatory, theoretical, educational and practical; control; corrective.

In 2012 it will be 205 years since the teaching of ophthalmology was started in Kazan. Since that time the teaching methodic has passed different stages starting from simple passive teaching to complex interactive teaching using the curricula modules. The method was introduced at the department in 2010 according to the latest state educational standard. The curricula is formed by several modules (practical skills, emergencies in ophthalmology, terminology) that are scored separately. The approach allows to increase the students’ activity at the classes, motivates for advanced reading and out-of-class studying and helps to acquire all the skills and knowledge better.

In the Baku Branch of the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University in July 2021, for the first time in Azerbaijan, with the participation of members of the Accreditation Subcommittee, the second stage of the primary accreditation of graduates was implemented within the framework of OSKE — the assessment of practical skills. 87 students took part in the accreditation exam. The students' actions were monitored and assessed by members of Accreditation Subcommittee (Russia), the equipment of various classes of realism was controlled, as well as time management and coordination of the process were carried out by the staff of the Test Center of the Baku Branch of the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University.

The article presents a comparative analysis of the learning curve of 40 students of Bashkir State Medical University on the technique of intracorporeal suture on a box simulator developed at the Department of Surgical diseases and new technologies and the "LapSim" simulator. Students who had different levels of manual skills were divided into two groups: the first - trained on a "box simulator", the second - trained on a "LapSim"simulator. To assess the level of development of practical skills, indicators of time spent on performing manipulation (in minutes) and GOALS (Global Operational Assessment of Laparoscopic Skills) were used. To assess the level of development of practical skills, indicators of time spent on performing manipulation (in minutes) and GOALS scores (Global Operational Assessment of Laparoscopic Skills). During analysis of the results there is a significant reduction of the time of performing manipulation in groups with an increase of the experience of students (in the performance of the second and third attempts). Training on a box simulator subjectively turned out to be easier for students than on a virtual laparoscopy simulator "LapSim".

The article has analyzed a questionnaire survey of second-year dental students of Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University who completed the study course “Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy”. The questioning of students was conducted to assess the independent preparation of students for practical training as well as to clarify the students’ attitude to both the educational process at the Department of Clinical Anatomy and Operative Surgery and the mastering of practical skills. The dialogue with students through questioning allows to find out ways for the improvement of teaching the discipline “Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy” in the credit-transfer system of the educational process.
