Games and exercises, which have an important place in the life of the individual in every developmental period of humans as a social being contribute to the communication and interaction of the individual with the environment, to the development of social cognitive skills such as problem-solving, analytical thinking, creative thinking, and reasoning as well as positively affecting the physical and mental development. Individuals, who try to survive in a mentally and physically challenging and demanding work pace or by being inactive for a long time in front of a computer screen, spend their energy through games, exercises, and physical activities, and can be discharged by relaxing. In this respect, it is possible to evaluate the entire games, exercises, and physical activities as a driving force to gather energy again after a tiring work tempo or as a source of motivation to move away from mental and physical fatigue. It is considered that performing activities such as exercises and playing games by individuals, considering them as a way of life and evaluating the factors, which keep individuals away from these activities, can be possible by explaining individual perceptions on these issues. In the light of these data, the meanings and values associated with the concepts of games and exercises by academics and engineers who live in different cultural structures, who cannot allocate adequate time for games and exercises in a compulsory work tempo, or who can acquire internal and external motivation via games and exercises as well as exercise frequency and playing times. The present study was conducted to examine the perceptions of academics and engineers on the concepts of game and exercise via metaphor analysis in June 2019 with the participation of scientists, academicians, and engineers who participated in the 2019 International Microwave Symposium (IMS) at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in Boston, MA, USA, which was held with the participation of many scientists, academicians, and engineers from all over the world as a total of 135 participants, 56 women and 79 men, who agreed to participate in the study voluntarily, made up the study group. The metaphor analysis form that was prepared by the researcher was used in obtaining the data to reveal the perceptions of the participants about the concepts of game and exercise. The participants were asked to complete the statements with the statements of “Game is like … because …” and “Exercise is like … because …” in addition to their age, gender, nationality, residence, occupation, perceived income status, and educational status. After the data were analyzed, various metaphors for the concepts of game and exercise were detected. Also, different game playing times and exercise frequencies emerged as a result of the self-evaluation of each participant.

The article establishes that creativity is a complex, interdisciplinary problem that attracts the scientific interest of specialists in various fields of knowledge, especially pedagogy and psychology. The purpose of the article is to identify the main aspects of the problem of creativity and to outline the relevant areas of scientific psychological and pedagogical research. It is revealed that creativity is reasonably considered as a universal personality trait, an integral creative ability. Psychological and pedagogical research emphasizes the important place and role of creativity in training and activities. It was found that creativity is mainly associated with creativity and talent of the individual, with the development of his creative abilities. The connection of creativity with other personality traits, in particular with the level of its intellectual development, as well as with imagination, intuition, the need for self-actualization, etc., is being actively developed. It is stated that in the psychological and pedagogical scientific literature the question of at what age one should start work on the formation of creativity or which age is the most favorable for this continues to be discussed. Some scholars argue that the formation of creativity should begin in the early stages of personality development, others believe that especially favorable for the development of creativity is the senior school age. It was found that scientists are interested in the development of creativity in higher education, including pedagogy. Creativity is considered as a component of professional skill. One of the aspects of the problem of creativity and the corresponding direction of psychological and pedagogical research is creative thinking. The issue of creative competence is also being developed. Much of the research on certain issues is devoted to the conditions, methods and technologies of formation and development of creativity. These include creative environment, search and research and invention activities, practical classes, information and communication, interactive (game), design technologies, case method, design, modeling.

Abstract Nowadays, contextual dynamics of society require new understandings of leisure available to the individual. The manner in which he intends to spend his free time may affect the quality of life, beneficial or not. We intend to identify the preferences of the population over 25 years in Iași city, for leisure practicing sport and physical activities in specialized institutions. The sample survey included 150 citizens of Iasi (75 male, 75 female), distributed by age ranges: 25-34; 35-44; 45-54; 55-64 years. They answered a questionnaire with 14 questions that focused customer profile (demographics: age, sex), the behavior of consumption (frequency of practicing sport and physical leisure activities, frequency of practicing sport and physical activities in sports clubs, preferences for various sport and physical activities). The results suggest that sport and physical activities play an important place in free time, preferences turning to programs and services offered by sports clubs and associations in the city. There are gender differences regarding: leisure sports (men devote more time to, but also include several sports activities in their free time than women; also, young people pay more attention to sports activities compared to subjects other intervals age); in sports (even if there are a number of common sports), the reasons underlying their practice (women prevail desire to lose weight and men wish to keep fit). The understanding that free time is becoming shorter andshorter and precious determines behavior directed towards ensuring the individual benefits: better health condition, relaxation and satisfaction.

Chapter 12, “Commentary: Personalization,” discusses the process of personalization, based on the portraits presented in Chapters 8–11. Personalization is not just a matter of individual variation; it is a form of active engagement through which individuals endow imaginaries with personal meanings and refract the imaginary through their own experiences. The portraits illustrate how the social imaginary of childrearing and self-esteem entered into dialogue with the complex realities of people’s lives. Parents’ ability to implement their childrearing goals was constrained and enabled by their past experiences and by socioeconomic conditions. The individual children were developing different strategies of self-evaluation, different expectations about how affirming the world would be, and different self-defining interests, and their self-making varied, depending on the situation. Some children received diagnoses of low self-esteem as early as preschool.

While research on Irish-medium immersion education (IME) has heralded benefits such as cognitive skills, academic achievement and language and literacy development, many studies have also identified challenges to its successful implementation. Immersion-specific research-validated tools can help school leaders navigate the school self-evaluation journey, critically review and evaluate the quality of aspects of their school’s provision and plan for improvement. This paper reports on one theme, leadership, from a larger study, Quality indicators of best practice in Irish-medium immersion (Ó Ceallaigh and Ní Shéaghdha, 2017). Qualitative in nature, the study was guided by the following research question: What are IME educators’ perceptions of best practices in IME?. The study explored 120 IME educators’ perceptions of best practice in IME to inform the development of IME quality indicators. Individual interviews and focus group interviews were utilised to collect data. Data analysis revealed particular themes related to best IME leadership practices. Findings in turn informed the design of an evidence-informed school self-evaluation tool for IME settings. The various functions of the tool will be explored with a particular emphasis on building teaching and leadership capacity in IME through the school self-evaluation process.

Abstract BACKGROUND The functions of the human face are not only of esthetic significance but also extend into metaphoric nuances of psychology. The loss of function of one or both facial nerves has a remarkable impact on patients' lives. OBJECTIVE To retrospectively analyze the functional outcomes of microneurovascular facial reanimation using masseteric innervation. METHODS Seventeen patients with irreparable facial paralysis resulting from benign lesions involving the facial nuclei (n = 14) or Möbius syndrome (n = 3) were treated with free muscle flaps for oral commissural reanimation using ipsilateral masseteric innervation and using temporalis muscle transfer for eyelid reanimation. Results were analyzed by the absolute commissural excursion and commissural excursion index and by a patient self-evaluation score. Presence of synkinesis was documented. Follow-up ranged from 8 to 48 months (mean, 26.4 months). RESULTS Normalization of the commissural excursion index was observed in 8 of 17 patients (47%), an improvement was seen in 7 of 17 (41%), and failure was observed in 2 of 17 (12%). The individual dynamics of absolute commissural excursion and commissural excursion index changes are presented. A natural smiling response was observed in 10 of 17 patients (59%) but not in the remaining 7 (41%). This response reflected the patient's ability to relay the natural emotion of smiling through the masseteric nerve. Patients' self-evaluation scores were a level higher than objective indices. CONCLUSIONS Innervation of free muscle flaps with the masseteric nerve for oral commissure reanimation might play an important role in patients with lesions of the facial nuclei (as in Möbius syndrome). Synkinesis persists for long periods after surgery. However, most of the patients learned to express their emotions by overcoming this phenomenon. Despite hypercorrection or inadequate correction, patients evaluated themselves favorably.

Abstract Background Development of cognitive skills for competent medical practice is a goal of residency education. Cognitive skills must be developed for many different clinical situations. Innovation We developed the Resident Cognitive Skills Documentation (CogDoc) as a method for capturing faculty members' real-time assessment of residents' cognitive performance while they precepted them in a family medicine office. The tool captures 3 dimensions of cognitive skills: medical knowledge, understanding, and its application. This article describes CogDoc development, our experience with its use, and its reliability and feasibility. Methods After development and pilot-testing, we introduced the CogDoc at a single training site, collecting all completed forms for 14 months to determine completion rate, competence development over time, consistency among preceptors, and resident use of the data. Results Thirty-eight faculty members completed 5021 CogDoc forms, documenting 29% of all patient visits by 33 residents. Competency was documented in all entrustable professional activities. Competence was statistically different among residents of different years of training for all 3 dimensions and progressively increased within all residency classes over time. Reliability scores were high: 0.9204 for the medical knowledge domain, 0.9405 for understanding, and 0.9414 for application. Almost every resident reported accessing the individual forms or summaries documenting their performance. Conclusions The CogDoc approach allows for ongoing assessment and documentation of resident competence, and, when compiled over time, depicts a comprehensive assessment of residents' cognitive development and ability to make decisions in ambulatory medicine. This approach meets criteria for an acceptable tool for assessing cognitive skills.

In this study, the risk assessment levels of athletes in different branches were examined in terms of various variables. Descriptive scanning model was used in the study. In the research, the survey was completed with a sample method of 105 people. The questionnaire was used as a data collection tool in the research. The questionnaire consists of questions about personal information and the Risk Assessment scale for athletes and coaches. Data analysis was performed in SPSS 21 package program. Descriptive statistics such as frequency, percent, and mean, standard deviation, minimum and maximum were used in data analysis. Data analysis was performed in SPSS 21 package program. As a result of the research, it was determined that the risk assessment perceptions of athletes according to their age, branches, educational status and income status did not differ. Rethinking the goals of vocational education, integrating into the international professional community, required rethinking of the academic disciplines role, which primarily affected the foreign language. Researchers note its importance for successful professional activity, for the development of special qualities. At the same time, the problem of educating professional responsibility, conditioned by the outlook of the individual, the conviction of the need to make professional decisions with an orientation towards their consequences for society and the country as a whole, has ceased to be a priority. The article focuses on the means of implementing the educational function of a foreign language in the unity of the content (context of the language) and methods of comparison with regional natural history, which activates creative thinking and affects the social position in the perception of the modern worldview, on the formation of a person's motivational-value attitude to his native culture. Comparative analysis of the native and foreign language culture allows a deeper understanding of the native culture and the formation of patriotic beliefs. The conclusions obtained in the course of understanding the educational function of a foreign language are based on the results of a comprehensive study conducted by graduate students of Samara University on the theory and methodology of vocational education, the purpose of which was to determine the effective personal characteristics of students in different areas of vocational training.

This article highlights current issues of the organization of distance learning and its role in the educational policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The role of this form of education as a factor in improving the quality of education in higher education is considered. One of the factors for improving the quality of education in the system of higher professional education is the widespread adoption of modern information technologies, including multimedia and virtual. Modern information technologies in combination with pedagogical technologies can significantly increase the effectiveness of the educational process; to achieve a solution to the main problem: the development of cognitive skills of students, critical and creative thinking, the ability to independently construct their knowledge, navigate in the information space.

El trabajo que se presenta recoge la experiencia de un proyecto de coordinación interdisciplinar entre tres asignaturas de la mención de educación física del grado en magisterio en educación primaria (actividades físicas individuales, actividades físicas de oposición y colaboración, y actividades físicas artístico-expresivas) en torno al contenido del acrosport. Se establecieron dos objetivos: identificar las diferencias significativas en cuanto a las calificaciones obtenidas en el proyecto según la matrícula en las tres asignaturas integradas; y analizar la valoración del alumnado sobre la aportación de las asignaturas implicadas en el proyecto, el trabajo autónomo y la adquisición de las competencias transversales. Participaron 66 alumnos/as de una media de edad de 22,90 años, 34 alumnos y 32 alumnas, todos ellos pertenecientes a la mención de educación física del grado de maestro de primaria de la facultad de educación de Zaragoza (universidad de Zaragoza). Para llevar a cabo el primer objetivo se diseñó una rúbrica para calificar por parte del profesorado los proyectos de acrosport. Para desarrollar el segundo objetivo se diseñó un cuestionario de valoración del alumnado sobre el proyecto. Los resultados extraídos a partir de las evaluaciones del profesorado muestran diferencias significativas positivas de las calificaciones del alumnado matriculado en las tres asignaturas implicadas. Los resultados procedentes de las valoraciones del alumnado sobre la aportación de las asignaturas implicadas revelan puntuaciones menores en la asignatura actividades físicas artístico-expresivas. Las valoraciones del alumnado en torno al trabajo autónomo y la adquisición de las competencias transversales obtuvieron altas puntuaciones. Abstract. This study is based on the experience of a coordinated interdisciplinary project around the content of acrosport involving three subjects (individual physical activities; competitive and collaborative physical activities; artistic-expressive physical activities) that form a part of the Physical Education module of the Primary Education Teaching Degree at the University of Zaragoza, Spain. There were two objectives: i) To identify significant differences in the grades obtained by the students in the three integrated subjects that comprised the project. ii) To analyze the evaluation and opinions of the students regarding the value of the subjects, the individual work and the acquisition of transversal competences. The study group was made up of 66 students with an average age of 22.9 years. There were 34 men and 32 women. All the participants were studying the Physical Education module of the Primary Education Degree at the Zaragoza University Faculty of Education. The teachers involved with the module designed a rubric to assess the acrobatic gymnastics project. To understand students’ opinions regarding the project, a questionnaire was designed. The results of the grades given to the students by the teachers showed significant differences in the three subjects. The results of the evaluations given by the students were lower for the subject of artistic-expressive physical activities. The students gave very high scores for the evaluation of individual work and the acquisition of transversal competences.
