Organisations/institutions for adult education, whether public or private, were among the frst ones to enter the education market. Terefore, they need to create conditions for efficient education process and efficient business practices, hence to fight for quality assurance respectively quality management. From the viewpoint of quality assurance in education, the key question is how well are they prepared to tackle the market determined by quality, regarding management resources. Only those organisations which are able to manage quality and meet quality standards according to users’ needs, will persist on the education market. Today, several quality management models are being applied in adult education organisations in Europe. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, as in our entire region, models of education quality management are primarily subject to theoretical discussions, while in the education practice there are still no attempts to apply some of those models. Based on critical elaboration and empirical research of applicability of the eduQua model, we intended to point out the possibilities of eduQua quality standard introduction in adult education organisations, and to defne recommendations and guidelines for quality assurance in adult education organisations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Research results show that it is not possible to fully apply the standards of eduQua model in our conditions, but they enabled us to frame recommendations and guidelines for quality assurance in organisations for adult education in BiH.

SummaryIn the last years several point of care testing (POCT) systems used for coagulation parameters have been developed and became daily routine. As for other POCT applications (e. g. blood gas analysis) there is a need for user education and continous improvement of quality assurance. For some POCT coagulation systems a comprehensive quality management has not been established yet. According to the feasibility and availability of control material and system self control each POCT coagulation method described in this article has a varying concept of quality management. Besides a high quality standard in manufacturing systems, devices and reagents the education of the user and the automatic self control of the instrument as well as the application of electronic and/ or liquid control samples contribute to the total quality assurance.Even if a “like versus like” control material is not available a comprehensive quality management should be implemented in daily routine concerning pre-analytic as well as technical and post-analytic criteria.Anyway to do nothing as the available control material seems to be not suitable is a bad decision.

Purpose This paper aims to present a model for the quality assurance of digital educational material that is appropriate for adult education. The proposed model adopts the software quality standard ISO/IEC 9126 and takes into account adult learning theories, Bloom’s taxonomy of learning objectives and two instructional design models: Kolb’s model (the learning cycle) and Gagne, Briggs and Wager’s model. Design/methodology/approach The structure of this paper is as follows: in the second section, the theory of “the learning cycle of Kolb” is discussed. The third section discusses the model of Gagne, Biggs & Wager. The fourth section discusses and categorizes the characteristics and sub-characteristics of the quality of digital educational material. The fifth section discusses and categorizes the quality attributes of digital educational material. Moreover, the correlation of the sub-characteristics of the material with the model of Gagne and that of Kolb are examined. Findings The authors developed a quality model that adopts the structure of ISO/IEC 9126 standard, using basic notions of theories of adult education to define its characteristics and sub-characteristics. The model has been successfully applied in the quality evaluation of educational material distributed to distance learning adult students. Originality/value The innovative combination of an established quality model with sound educational theories yields a comprehensive model that allows both a qualitative and quantitative evaluation of the appropriateness of digital educational material. The applicability of the model is demonstrated by applying it to specific digital materials specially developed for adult education.

The article examines the Canadian experience in the fi eld of education quality management, where the eff ectiveness of the whole system is provided by active cooperation of multiple actors of educational policy at all levels: international, national, regional and institutional. Of particular interest is the analysis of specifi c initiatives implemented at each level and ways to ensuring their coherence. A brief overview of quality assurance agencies monitoring and controlling the higher education sector in whole, the universities and the educational programs, is off ered. Despite the signifi cant heterogeneity of the university sector of Canada due to the administrative, territorial and cultural diff erences, the coordinated actions of all participants of the educational process contribute to cooperation between universities, ensure mutual recognition of diplomas both in Canada and internationally, and create conditions for students’ and graduates’ mobility.
