The paper is devoted to the study of the development of psychiatry and its establishment as a science in the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The leading method of research was the analysis and synthesis of historical sources of the 19th to 21st centuries. The historical analysis of the development of psychiatry was carried out through the study of the life and scientific path of Ivan Sikorsky, Mykhailo Lapinsky, Volodymyr Seletsky, who were the founders of psychiatry as an academic discipline in Ukraine. In 2020, 135 years have passed since the foundation of the Department of Nervous and Mental Diseases in the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The founders of the department are well-known talented scientists, whose activities have enriched psychiatric science. But from 1920 to 2019, psychiatry as a science and a subject of teaching disappeared from the University. Psychiatry received its further development at the university in 2019, with establishment of the Institute of Psychiatry. The practical significance of the study lies in the substantial contribution to the history of domestic medical science, in particular, mental disorder studies, as well as the possibility of using the findings in the teaching of an educational course in psychiatry.

The article has as its object the elucidation of the history of the Vyshnivetsky Castle Library, definition of the content of its fund, its historical and cultural significance, correlation of the founder of the Library Mychailo Servaty Vyshnivetsky with the Book. The Vyshnivetsky Castle Library was formed in the Ukrainian historical region of Volyn’, in the Vyshnivets town – “family nest” of the old Ukrainian noble family of the Vyshnivetskies under the “Korybut” coat of arm. The founder of the Library was Prince Mychailo Servaty Vyshnivetsky (1680–1744) – Grand Hetman and Grand Chancellor of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Vilno Voievoda. He was a politician, an erudite and great bibliophile. In the 30th–40th of the 18th century the main Prince’s residence Vyshnivets became an important centre of magnate’s culture in Rich Pospolyta. M. S. Vyshnivetsky’s contemporaries from the noble class and clergy knew quite well about his library and really appreciated it. According to historical documents 5 periods are defined in the Library’s history. In the historical sources the first place is occupied by old-printed books of Library collection and 7 Library manuscript catalogues dating from 1745 up to the 1835 which give information about quantity and topical structures of Library collection. The Library is a historical and cultural symbol of the Enlightenment epoch. The Enlightenment and those particular concepts and cultural images pertaining to that epoch had their effect on the formation of Library’s fund. Its main features are as follow: comprehensive nature of the stock, predominance of French eighteenth century editions, presence of academic books and editions on orientalistics as well as works of the ideologues of the Enlightenment and new kinds of literature, which generated as a result of this movement – encyclopaedias, encyclopaedian dictionaries, almanacs, etc. Besides the universal nature of its stock books on history, social and political thought, fiction were dominating. The reconstruction of the history of Vyshnivetsky’s Library, the historical analysis of the provenances in its editions give us better understanding of the personality of its owners and in some cases their philanthropic activities, and a better ability to identify the role of this Library in the culture life of society in a certain epoch.

This is a historical anthropological study of a period of social and religious tensions in a Calvinist city in the Kingdom of Hungary in the first half of the 18th century. The last and greatest plague epidemic to devastate Hungary and Transylvania between cca. 1738 and 1743 led to a clash of different opinions and beliefs on the origin of the plague and ways of fighting it. Situated on the Great Hungarian Plain, the city of Debrecen saw not only frequent violations of the imposed lockdown measures among its inhabitants but also a major uprising in 1739. The author examines the historical sources (handwritten city records, written and printed regulations, criminal proceedings, and other documents) to be found in the Debrecen city archives, as well as the writings of the local Calvinist pastors published in the same town. The purpose of the study is to outline the main directions of interpretation concerning the plague and manifest in the urban uprising. According to the findings of the author, there was a stricter and chronologically earlier direction, more in keeping with local Puritanism in the second half of the 17th century, and there was also a more moderate and later one, more in line with the assumptions and expectations of late 18th-century medical science. While the former set of interpretations seems to have been founded especially on a so-called “internal” cure (i.e., religious piety and repentance), the latter proposed mostly “external” means (i.e., quarantine measures and herbal medicine) to avoid the plague and be rid of it. There seems to have existed, however, a third set of interpretations: that of folk beliefs and practices, i.e., sorcery and magic. According to the files, a number of so-called “wise women” also attempted to cure the plague-stricken by magical means. The third set of interpretations and their implied practices were not tolerated by either of the other two. The author provides a detailed micro-historical analysis of local events and the social and religious discourses into which they were embedded.

The article attempts to comprehend the essence and possibility of forming discourse competence among foreign and Russian students with simultaneous immersion in patriotic discourse. It is highlighted that the addition of the humanitarian series of “History of Civilizations” and “Features of Russian Civilization” to the educational process at the university creates the necessary pedagogical conditions for organizing a special linguo-ethno-cultural environment that forms active social interaction of authors within the framework of the medical and patriotic linguistic scenario. The authors of the article conducted a semantic and historical analysis of interpretations of the concept of “patriotism” that were studied from the point of view of traditional and liberal culture. The article presents the results of a socio-pedagogical study of students' perceptions of this concept. The article describes various theoretical and methodological approaches to the definition of the concepts of “discourse” and “discursive picture of the world” as well as psycholinguistic features of the method of semantic differential. Special attention in the article is paid to the typologies of discourse presented in the scientific literature. The authors of the article present the principle of genre and the principle of thematic correlation as the basis for distinguishing between types of discourse and highlight differences in language and discursive pictures of the world. The tasks of educators is to form not only purely medical discursive competence, but also to immerse the listener in “correctly” interpreted picture, saturated with verbal patterns that allow to create statements of patriotic content.

The purpose of the article. To carry out the analysis of the basic theoretical-methodological and sourcestudying problems of the economic history of Ukraine, in particular: determination of the problem of informativeness, representativeness; the reliability of the source database; scientific critique of large arrays of sources and peculiarities of using the whole range of historical sources in the study of economic history of Ukraine problems in different historical epochs, as well as the possibilities of involving scientific tools of other sciences to solve certain research problems. Methods of specific scientific activity, methods of empirical research and general logical methods were used in the article. Main results. The article describes the main theoretical-methodological and source-studying problems of the economic history of Ukraine. It was noted the contradictions of the process of development of economic history in Ukraine in particular, the lack of proper scientific cooperation between historians and economists. Also, it was emphasized, that the institutionalization of the economic history of Ukraine and the complex interdisciplinary approach to the methodology of studying problems of the economic history thanks to the borrowing of theories and methods from other sciences, make it possible to achieve a specific goal and research objectives and allow gaining new knowledge. The most informative sources for different periods of economic history of Ukraine were identified and the theoretical-methodological problems of their use were analyzed. Conclusions. The analysis of the main theoretical-methodological and source-studying problems of the economic history of Ukraine, conducted in the article, showed the necessity of a complex and interdisciplinary nature of the choice of both methodological approaches and actually, the choice of the source base for such researches. An important paradigm of scientific studies in economic history is the use by researchers the full range of sources, which are typical to different historical periods and the choice of appropriate methodological basis, which allows to determine the informativeness, representativeness, reliability of the source base, to conduct scientific critique of large arrays of sources, and, most importantly, allow to solve set by researcher specific scientific tasks. The modern development of scientific studies in the economic history of Ukraine requires their institutionalization and development of theoretical and methodological approaches to the whole complex of problems and challenges, that facing scientists. The institutionalization of the economic history of the Ukraine should ensure the cooperation of scientists working on its various components and it also allows involving specialists from other fields of knowledge to the implementation of research projects. We fully support the thesis that economic history should serve as a "meeting place" for specialists in various sciences, especially historians, economists and lawyers. It is this scientific cooperation of economists and historians, as well as experts in statistics, materials science, cartography, physical and historical geography, and their methodological tools, that will enhance such research and enable new knowledge to be acquired. Unfortunately, usage of methods and techniques from other sciences by historians not always leads to objective research results. The practical significance of the article lies in the possibility of using the main of the basic theoretical-methodological and source-studying problems of the economic history of Ukraine in own studies, in particular concerning the choice of the sources base for researches and the methodology of its analysis. Originality. Many years of experience in own scientific researches in the field of economic history, especially the history of finance, as well as the analysis of many works on this issue, allows the authors of the article to focus attention on the most complex theoretical-methodological and source-studying problems of the economic history of Ukraine. The scientific novelty of the article lies in the comprehensive interdisciplinary analysis of the basic theoretical-methodological and source-studying problems of different periods in economic history. Type of the article: methodological.
