This study aims to explain the impact of implementing open selection on the amount of corruption in local government JPT in Indonesia. Using the difference-in-differences-in-differences (DDD) approach, this study analyzes panel data on JPT corruption in Indonesia that have been inkracht handled by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in the period 2009-2019. The results of theoretical studies and previous research have given rise to the hypothesis that the implementation of open selection has a positive impact on reducing JPT corruption cases in local governments in Indonesia. This study found that the implementation of open selection can reduce the number of corruption cases by -0.892% and significantly at the 10% alpha level in regions with high total capital expenditures. This finding demonstrates the positive impact of open selection on JPT corruption cases and thus supports previous studies on the positive impact of implementing a merit system, in particular open selection on the number of JPT corruption cases in regions with high total spending. In addition, to strengthen the research results by adding case studies and in-depth interviews with KASN and ICW. It was found that it greatly influenced the implementation of open selection. It is the high political costs in the regions that are the main cause that causes corruption of governors, mayors, and regents followed by regional officials to continue to occur.

Agricultural productivity plays a crucial role in sustainable development while income is one of the most critical indicators that manifest the living standards; therefore, both of these aspects have attracted much attention from the national level to the provincial level. Yet, for various reasons, the importance of regional linkages, especially spatial interaction in the analysis of agricultural productivity and the average income, is not recognized and thus ignored in economic policies. Taking Vietnam as the study area, this paper examines the impact of spatial interaction between metropolises and provinces on agricultural productivity and income per capita of provinces. In order to evaluate the impacts, this paper uses a gravity model to estimate the spatial interaction then panel data analysis is employed to interpret the influences. The data used in this study is collected from the General Statistics Office of Vietnam in the period from 2015-2018. The results show a positive correlation between spatial interaction between metropolis and provinces to provincial change, including agricultural productivity and average income. As such, stronger linkages with metropolises through improving transportation systems could enhance agricultural productivity and income in the province.

This paper is an attempt to analyse and empirically estimate the impact of FDI on economic growth and human development of Africa and Latin American countries for the period 1985–2011. To this end we develop two equations: growth and human development. Our findings, based on fixed effect panel regression, thus, suggest that FDI does not have a positive impact on economic growth but it has significant positive impact on human development. We conclude that for FDI to be a noteworthy provider to economic growth, it is important to increase absorption capacity by improving the level of democracy, increasing and improving transport infrastructure and following appropriate economic policies. Our results are found to be robust across approach, model specifications and statistical test.

AbstractThis study investigates the impact of the mechanism of green public consumption policy on environmental equity and provides a feasible reference for the rational formulation of corresponding policies for China. Establish a mediation effect model using the stepwise regression and bootstrap analysis method, this study explores the direct and indirect effects of fiscal expenditure intensity on environmental equity. The results revealed that increasing fiscal expenditure on energy conservation and environmental protection cannot directly and significantly affect environmental equity, but it has a significant indirect positive impact on environmental equality through fiscal decentralization. It is also found that the impact of green public consumption policy on environmental equity varies in the eastern, central and western parts of China. Our findings indicated that the expenditure of energy conservation and environmental protection indirectly affects environmental equity through fiscal decentralization. The willingness of the government to protect the environment regulates the impact of green public consumption policies on environmental equity. The phenomenon of feeding the east from the west of resources and environment is obvious. According to the characteristics of regional development, we should formulate energy conservation and environmental protection policies and adjust the direction of policies to promote regional environmental equity.

Tourism becomes a hotly discussed topic because it has a significant impact on the economy, social, and culture. This study analyzes changes in yard land use to support sustainable tourism based on local culture, namely the culture of harmony. This research was conducted through two approaches. The first was carried out qualitatively to see changes in depth in the use of Ubud community yards. The second is done quantitatively with the help of statistics to determine the impact of these changes. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with people who own land changes and through questionnaires. The selection of informants was based on recommendations from the traditional village leadership using the snowballing method. A total of 38 land owners have filled out the questionnaire correctly. The results of the qualitative research explained that most land-use changes were in palemahan 0r teba, which were initially used as a breeding place, remove dirt, and gardening functioned as a place to stay for tourists. The quantitative results explain that land changes based on a culture of harmony have a positive impact on the economy, social, culture, and environment. The results of this study support the development of sustainable tourism which is an important issue in today's era.

The Government of Vietnam is making efforts to rearrange state-owned enterprises (SOEs); there are many studies on restructuring and equitization of SOEs to form state-capital enterprises (SCEs); However, there is little research on combining two intangible resources such as social capital and resilience capability. This study presents a structure model describing (i) the impact of social capital and resilience capability on SCE performance (ii) social capital has indirectly affecting performance through resilience capability. After adjusting the scale through in-depth interviews with experts; conduct quantitative research with a sample of 568 SCEs in operation (overall sampling) to test Cronbach’s Alpha reliability, EFA, CFA, and SEM; the research results show that (i) social capital, resilience capability have a positive impact on the performance of SCEs and (ii) social capital indirectly positively affects performance through resilience capability. The study also suggests practical implications for managers to use effective resources in SCEs.

Abstract: This paper investigates the existence of noise trader risk in Vietnam’s stock market and its effect on the daily returns of stock prices. The methodologies contain the estimation of GARCH (1,1) model to filter the residuals using the moving average method to calculate the impact of information traders. Noise trader risk or the risk that is caused by noise traders is derived by subtracting the residuals by the rational traders’ impact. We find that the noise trader risk does exist in Vietnam’s stock market and its impact on daily returns of stocks is unpredictable. Meanwhile, we find a positive impact of information traders on the stock returns. It increases the daily stock returns, and in turn, helps the market to correct itself because the stock prices move back to its fundamental value.

Keywords: noise trader risk, GARCH (1,1), Vietnam’s stock market
