TEACHERS IN THE DIGITAL ERA: TRAINING ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SCHOOLOGY AS A LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR TEACHERS OF SMP VETERAN CIREBON CITY. Distance education is a natural learning system that involves two-way communication through the media between educators and students when there is a distance that separates them. To integrate the two-way communication process requires a learning management system (Learning Management System). One of the LMS platforms is Schoology. Schoology allows users to create, manage, and interact with each other and share academic content. Schoology provides solutions for teachers to improve their professionalism in the digital age, especially in the use of technology for learning. The resource person trains participants with the lecture method, which explains how to use the menus and tools contained in LMS Schoology, as well as simulations of how to implement them in learning. The training stage consists of the preparation phase and the implementation phase of the training. The target of the training is the teachers of all subjects in Cirebon Veterans Junior High School. Indicators of training implementation with evaluation during the training process and post-training evaluation. From the results of the community service activities, during the face-to-face events, the teachers looked enthusiastic, only when the exercises were online (non-face-to-face), only one teacher actively participated out of a total of 9 teachers who became training participants. Based on observations, few teachers took part in online activities because of their busy operations in classroom teaching, which had to pursue productive weeks of learning.

With deepening internationalization, English has become an increasingly important communication tool. Because traditional English teaching has short teacher-student interaction time, lack of oral English training environment, and single learning method, the oral English teaching is not ideal, and the students’ “speaking” confidence is insufficient. Aimed at addressing the exposed problems of traditional English reading teaching, this paper proposes a multimedia-based English reading teaching mode. On this basis, establish a voice recognition phoneme network grid to detect the recognition results. Secondly, the lattice is used to generate the confusion network mesh, and the acoustic posterior probability is calculated. Then, the feature vector is input into the SVM classifier for confidence mark, and finally the feature is extracted by principal component analysis. The research shows that multimedia network teaching can teach more vividly, increasing the initiative of students. At the same time, it is shown that the speech recognition confidence learning algorithm can improve the language learning system.

Introduction. The essence of the communication process is the exchange of thoughts and sharing knowledge on a specific topic. Sign language is recognized as a full-fledged way of communication, not just a collection of signs used for communication. In accordance with the Act on Sign Language and Other Means of Communication, Polish Sign Language (PJM) is defined as a visual-spatial form of communication. Aim. The aim of the study was to present sign language as a communication tool for speech therapists. Material and methods. The study included 90 graduates of Speech Therapy and Phonoaudiology. Original questionnaire was used to collect information on the forms of using sign language and the methods of developing and applying the ability to communicate in sign language. Results. The analysis of the results shows that over 22% of the respondents use sign language on everyday basis. The most frequently reported emotional state related to the use of sign language was uncertainty (79%), other responses were fear and anxiety (37%), joy (11%) and calmness (5%) as well as confusion (5%). Additionally, 5% of respondents stated that in a given situation they felt no particular emotions. Conclusions. It has been shown that stress is a factor present in the majority of respondents when transmitting and receiving messages in sign language.

The Dataspace: Between Information Design and Data Manipulation. The Analysis of Specificity of Infographic Messages Based on Case Study of Visualising PalestineThe goal of the paper is to present the issues concerning data visualisation in communication context. Infographics nowadays becomes – due to data journalism and popularity of visual media – a commonly used tool; but still little recognition is given towards manipulatory features of graphic design which is presented to its recipients as illustrating, translating and explaining statistical and textual content in systemic, ordered and visual way that connotes simplicity, universality and objectivity. The author tries to prove that idealistic information design theories impact the communication process (on one hand giving the space for data manipulation, on the other – creating an ideal image of a designer seen as a guard of objectivism and an owner of an interpreter’s competences, thus they evoke recipients’ vulnerability in decoding the language of data visualisation and deprive them of awareness, which they should devote to persuasive messages). Whereas graphic message is not only of an educational nature but also often of a political or – widely speaking – an ideological one. The goal of the analysis of infographics published at the Visualizing Palestine website (chosen for its global range and popularity, as well as for the political polarisation of its recipients and for innovative, participative and grassroot character of the design process) is to indicate the technics of visualisation as interpretation and also data manipulation, as well as to prove the discoursive potential of infographics as a communication tool. The paper aims at drawing attention to the common lack of competences in the range of decoding meanings of datavis and the nonchalance (whether conscious or not) of designers in their usage of data.
