The hidden curriculum is an important part of curriculums, and constructing the primary school English hidden curriculum is helpful for the implementation of the new National English Curriculums, the development of students’ key competencies and the reform of basic English teaching in China. However, according to the survey conducted with 40 primary school leaders, 60 primary school English teachers as well as 300 primary school students, the hidden curriculum is always ignored in primary school English teaching in China. Schools should meticulously design the educational environment on campus, highlighting the characteristics of English hidden curriculums, integrate English into the class culture, optimizing English educational environment. It is necessary to build a harmonious relationship between teachers and students, to enhance students’ motivation of learning English, to mobilize social and family participation, and to build multiple hidden curricular resources of English so as to promote the reform of English teaching and improve the quality of English teaching at primary schools in China.

The purpose of the article is to substantiate theoretically the content component of creating a personality-oriented educational environment on the basis of subject-subject interaction between teachers and students of the New Ukrainian School. To achieve this goal, the following methods of analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature were used: generalization of the achievements of domestic and foreign scientists on a certain problem; systematization of the received information. Analyzing the psychological and pedagogical literature, we can say that the question of “educational environment” scientists have been addressed constantly. The views of scientists are considered and the essential characteristics of the concept of “educational environment” are given in the article. A brief overview of the structural elements of the environment, the problems of designing and creating a creative, personality-oriented educational environment based on the subject-subject interaction between teachers and students for their development are described. The solution of existing problems in the practice of forming the educational environment of primary school is studied. The main criteria are considered, taking into account which it is necessary to build an educational environment for primary school students. The main characteristics and parameters of the educational environment are analyzed. Recommendations for teachers on creating cells are provided. The focus is on specific tasks to address the issue of teacher readiness for change and steps to create a modern educational environment. Prospects for further explorations in this direction are outlined

School, particularly primary school, plays a special and unique role in education. It joins teachers and students together, in order to show children and youths the complex reality of the world. Educational processes implemented in the following institution can reflect knowledge transmission or can be based on transaction models. Education is stimulating, experimental and exploratory as it guides students to the world of forming questions, searching for answers and developing conclusions. Unfortunately, this model is rather uncommon in Polish primary schools. This publication presents how experimenting, used by teachers, could introduce 7-year-old students in the first grade of primary school, into the world of knowledge and natural science competence. It also shows how experimenting affects the level of students’ education and natural science competence. The research aimed for describing methods of experimenting with first grade students in science education as well as explaining the connection between applying experiments in science education and students’ level of skills and knowledge. The research used a method of pedagogical experiment - quasi-experimental testing based on initial and final measurement using practical tests. The study included 307 primary school first-graders. The studies have established that there are dependencies between experimenting in science education as well as knowledge and skills level among the first grade primary school students, taking into account subjects’ gender. At the end, conclusions were also drawn regarding the possibilities for more extensive use of experimentation in Polish schools.

This study aims to examine the development of an interactive learning model using Visual Basic Application for Microsoft excel with ethnomathematical content on fractions, to improve primary school students’ mathematical reasoning abilities. The research method used is development through the stages of conducting preliminary studies and literature, designing interactive learning models, conducting FGDs, producing initial designs of interactive learning models, conducting limited trials in one primary school, making revisions, conducting extensive trials in four primary schools, producing trial in another primary school. The last obtaining a final model and conducting socialisation. The last, it provides a test of mathematical reasoning ability. The research subjects were teachers and students in six primary schools. The research instruments were interviews, validation sheets, documentation, learning observation sheets, questionnaires and mathematical reasoning ability test.  The assessment criteria for the developed learning model include syntax, social system, principle of reaction, supports system and instructional impact. The results showed that 1) Development of VBA-assisted and ethnomatematically-loaded interactive learning models go through two major stages, namely product development and validation  2) The Interactive learning model was declared very valid; 3) The responses of teachers and students were generally positive; 4) The achievement of students’ mathematical reasoning abilities after gave learning with an interactive model using VBA for Microsoft Excel with ethnomathematical contents better than using ordinary learning.

This research is motivated by the lack of teachers' ability to use media related to the students environment as teaching materials to develop primary school students' critical thinking ability. The research aims at developing problem-based learning media (PBL) using comic book in order to improve students' critical thinking ability. The research employed a research and development design using the experimental research design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of the research were 28 fourth-grade students in one of primary schools in Indramayu Regency. The research produced a product in the form of problem-based comic media developed based on the needs of teachers and students. The subject material in the comic book contained problems that occurred in the real environment within the students. Based on the validation tests carried out by material experts, media experts and practitioners, the results revealed that the product was included in the “Very Valid” category. While, the practicality test results revealed that the product was included in the “Very Practical”.


The aim of this study was to identify the factors associated with school refusal behavior in primary school students. Student’s self-report and teacher’s measures were implemented; and students were recruited from 20 primary schools in six districts in Selangor, Malaysia. The survey was conducted at the end of school term in 2016, with a total of 915 students from Year 4 and Year 5 participating. The sample of students had been absent from school for more than 15% of school days in the current year. Pearson correlation shows a significant relationship between academic achievement and school satisfaction toward school refusal behavior. The findings of this study suggest that academic difficulties and dissatisfaction towards school environment could be the important risk factors for school refusal behavior. The present study underscores the importance of early detection and intervention as measures to reduce school refusal. Finally, the findings imply that the role of school factors should always be taken into account in connection with school refusal behaviour.

The background of this research is an instrument of learning for reading comprehension which in general is still dominated by an instrument in the form of print out which makes the students’ interest to read is reduced. In addition, this instrument is usually done manually or handwritten so that the students’ work must be corrected manually and require some time to get the results. This study aims to develop instruments or measuring devices for reading comprehension in the Primary School in Pekanbaru and find out the feasibility of measuring devices for reading comprehension skills. This product is Macromedia Flash 8 based namely "MaCaMi" which stands forMari Membaca dan Memahami. The research method used was the 4D model with four stages, such as the define stage, the design phase, the develop phase, and the dessiminate stage which is limited to the third stage. The data of this study were obtained from product design expert validation questionnaire, questionnaire validated by linguists, teacher response questionnaire and students response questionnaire. The data were generated quantitatively and analyzed by using the assessment criteria to determine the product quality. The results of this study showed the assessment of product design experts in draft 1 had an average percentage of 69.61% with the appropriate category then had increased in draft 2 to 90.56% with the very feasible category. The results of  the feasibility test by linguists in draft 1 with had average percentage of 95.30% with the very feasible category then increased in draft 2 to 97.20% withn the very feasible category. The results of the teacher's response to the reading comprehension measuring instrument in the Primary School in Pekanbaru developed by researchers obtained an average percentage of 93.50% with a very good category and the results of students' responses to the measuring instrument obtained an average percentage of 89.90% with a category very good. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the product developed by researchers is feasible to be used as a measure of reading comprehension ability of primary school students.

The problem of introducing distance learning in primary school is actualized by the development of social networks and Internet technologies, which open unlimited horizons for their application in educational activities. In addition, the introduction of quarantine in Ukraine requires primary school teachers to find ways to effectively master the program material. Among such ways is distance learning. The purpose of the study is to substantiate the specifics and possibilities of organizing the educational process in primary school with the use of distance learning. In the process of scientific research methods of analysis, synthesis, generalization and systematization were used. Distance learning in primary school is defined as a form of organization and implementation of the educational process, in which the subjects of learning (teachers and students) in the online mode carry out educational interaction in principle and mainly extraterritorially. In the context of reforming modern Ukrainian education, a number of e-platforms have been created for the organization of distance learning for primary school students. An effective commercial platform for distance learning is the service "My Class", which contains online courses from 1st to 11th grade, which contain lessons that integrate theoretical (test presentation of content) and practical (individual tasks that can be solved independently of each other, a block of tasks that need to be solved sequentially, guidelines) blocks. Result. Emphasis is placed on the requirements to be met by a primary school teacher when organizing distance learning in primary school during the quarantine period and it is suggested to advise parents who will work remotely with junior students in the initial stages of distance learning, gradually transferring activity to children.

The Ranau Earthquake that struck on 5 June 2015, February 2018, and April 2021, were a new disaster in Sabah and caused many Sabahan to panic. The unpredicted disaster also caused a serious impact on all aspects of life in Sabah. The earthquake has caused severe damage to eight primary schools in the vicinity of the epicenter, although no casualties were reported. However, the disaster has deep passing psychological effects among students. In this study, we examine how the primary school teachers enabled the student to be resilient during and after the disaster. Based on the interviews with 16 primary school students, it was revealed that most of the teachers used WhatsApp to support resilience during and after the earthquake. Interviews with 16 primary school teachers revealed there were two main reasons for them to communicate with students, namely, delivering emotional aid and monitoring their stress. Based on student interviews, five content categories of emotional support were identified: caring, reassuring, emotion sharing, belonging, and distracting. The main contribution of this study is that social media can be used as a spontaneous and proactive tool for supporting the student’s resilience during and after the earthquake trauma.

Discipline in class is essential. Without it the educational processes and teachings are difficult. In this manner curricula goals are almost impossible to achieve. There are and there always will be some kind of conflicts between teachers and students, but they should not evolve to become a problem. Teachers (especially elderly teachers) often express pessimism of contemporary students. They say that today's students have less knowledge, they do misbehave more often than previous generations. A study among students was conducted. It was trying to determine the rate of discipline in schools in Celje to see if these statements are true. The questionnaire to students of one primary and one high school in Celje, Slovenia were distributed. The answers from 234 students were received. On the one hand, it was found out that senior high school students have the worst level of discipline of all the grades tested. They themselves assess their class atmosphere as less disciplined. They report that teachers use a lot of time to calm the class down. All this is probably a factor in lower average grade that the senior high school students have. On the other hand, it was found out that teachers do not react to the disturbance or they are trying to be repressive. These are not the correct ways of dealing with discipline issues. Therefore, there are some recommended ways how teachers should react. Keywords: discipline in class, primary school, contemporary student, elderly teachers.

This study aimed to determine the age at menarche and its influencing factors and the pattern of menstrual cycles in elementary school students in Medan. Subjects were 227 female students in six primary schools (private and government) in Medan municipal, during October until November 1995. Most students experienced menarche in government primary school (GPS: 35.8%) and private primary school (PPS: 24%), at the age of 10-12 years. The mean age at menarche of these students in government primary school was 11.41 (SD 0.95) years while in private primary school it was 10.65 (SD 0.78) years. Subjects who had had menarche had better nutritional status than who had not (p<0.001). Sports activities are also associated with age at menarche (p<0.001). On the other hand family's economical status and maternal age at menarche were not significantly associated with age at menarche (p>0.05). Most students who had had menarche had regular menstrual cycle; the duration of menarche was 4-6 days for GPS and 3 days for PPS. Dysmenorrhea was a common finding in the first three months of menstruation cycle but gradually diminishing with time. The duration of menstrual cycle was 25-34 days. These findings are useful as a guide for the parents, especially when mothers planning the best time/ the moment to discuss about reproduction and sexual counseling with her daughter.
