Physiological effects of aerobic and anaerobic exercises are frequently investigated. However, it is considered that combined exercises may be more effective. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of aerobic and combined exercise program on some biochemical parameters. The study group consisted of 45 male volunteers with sedentary life. The participants were divided into three groups as control (n: 15), aerobic exercise (n: 15) and combined exercise (n: 15). The control group did not perform any exercise. Aerobic and combined exercise groups participated in the exercise program 4 days a week for 10 weeks. Blood samples were taken from the participants twice. TSH, T3, T4, AST, ALT, Uric acid and glucose levels were determined in blood samples. SPSS software was used for the analysis of the data and the significance level was accepted as p <0.05. As a result of analysis; no difference was observed in the control group (p> 0.05). In the aerobic exercise group, T3, AST, Uric acid levels of post test were found to be different according to baseline, while in the combined exercise group, there were significant differences in T3, AST, Uric acid and glucose levels between pre and post test values (p <0.05). As a result, it was determined that both aerobic and combined exercises had effects on biochemical parameters (thyroid hormones, liver enzymes, Uric acid and glucose). According to this study it can be said that combined exercises may be more effective than aerobic exercises.

Background: It is known that exercise causes many changes in the human organism. Understanding the metabolisms underlying these changes is an important issue. The aim of the study was to determine the effects of different and regularly applied exercise programs on irisin, heat shock protein 70 and some biochemical parameters. Methods: 120 male university students participated in the study. Participants were divided into 4 equal groups as control (C), resistance exercise group (RE), high intensity interval (HIIT) and aerobic exercise group (AE). While the control group did not perform any exercise, the pre-determined exercise programs were applied to the other groups for 8 weeks and 3 days in a week. Blood samples were taken from all participants before and after the exercise program. Cholesterol, HDL and LDL cholesterol, triglyceride, creatine kinase (CK), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), Irisin and Heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) levels were analyzed in blood samples. Results: It is determined that there are significant differences in pre-posttest values ​​of the AE group’s LDH, cholesterol, HDL, Triglyceride and HSP 70 levels, HIIT group’s CK, LDH, Cholesterol, HDL, Triglyceride, Irisin and HSP70 levels and RE group’s CK, LDH, Cholesterol, LDL, Triglyceride and irisin levels (p<0.05). Conlusions: It can be said that; exercise can correct abnormalities in lipid profile, changes in HSP70 levels may vary depending on muscle damage, the increase of irisin due to exercise.

Exercise has many positive effects on the human organism. In this study, the effects of resistance exercise program, which is applied regularly for eight weeks, were investigated on body composition and some biochemical values. Twenty-four male volunteers participated in the study group. The participants were randomly divided into two equal groups: control and resistance exercise groups. While the participants in the control group attended only practice lessons in the faculty, the exercise group participated in the resistance exercise program 2 days a week for eight weeks in addition to the practice lessons. Body compositions of the participants were measured before and after the program and blood samples were taken. Thus, body weight, body fat percentage, mass body fat, Body mass index (BMI), AST, ALT, GGT, cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL, LDL and VLDL cholesterol levels of the participants were determined. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS software. As a result of statistical analysis; there was difference only GGT value of the control group (p&lt;0.05). In the exercise group, body weight, body fat percentage, mass body fat, BMI, AST, ALT, GGT values ​​were found to be significant differences (p&lt;0.05). In conclusion, it was determined that resistance exercise program applied for eight weeks had significant effects on body composition and liver enzymes. However, although there are some minor changes in blood lipids, these changes are not statistically significant. It can be said that resistance exercises can be beneficial on liver enzymes and body composition but eight weeks resistance training may not be enough to change the blood lipid profile.

Abstract Background we investigate the levels of adiponectin, resistin, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and signs of puberty progression after 12-weeks of combined exercise and 4-weeks of detraining. Methods Thirty overweight and obese girls (age7-9) with precocious puberty who injected Differlin were randomly divided into two groups (exercise and control). At the beginning, blood samples were obtained from all subjects and serum levels of adiponectin, resistin and TNF-α were measured. Exercise group performed 60minutes of combined (aerobic and resistance) exercises 3 times a week for 12-weeks.Control group did not receive any exercise. 48 hours after the last training session and after four weeks of detraining, blood samples were collected in the second and third stage, respectively. Blood samples were collected from the control group in both steps. BMI, cholesterol, triglyceride, signs of puberty progression (bone age, uterine lengths, ovarian volumes), luteinising hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) were measured on all three occasions. Results In the exercise group, adiponectin significantly increased and resistin significantly decreased after 12-weeks. After 4-weeks of detraining, adiponectin significantly decreased and resistin significantly increased. TNF-α levels did not change significantly during the study. There was no significant difference in all of the factors in the control group. Throughout the 16-week study period, the rate of puberty and LH significantly decreased in both exercise and control groups but FSH and LH/FSH significantly decreased in exercise group, alone. Conclusion Combined exercise increased adiponectin and decreased resistin and rate of puberty. After 4-weeks of detraining, these effects diminished but did not disappear. The adipocyte‐derived hormones leptin is known to increase in obesity and related disease. Thirty two non‐trained males (39±4.32 years, 176.5 – 6.5 ± 6.42 cm, and 31 ± 3.14 body fat %) were matched according to physical fitness enrolled in this study and divided to exercise and control group by accidentally. The participants of exercise group were completed an aerobic exercise program for 3 months (3 days/weekly) and control group were barred of exercise in this period. Anthropometrical measurements and fasting blood samples were obtained before and after interventions in two groups. Blood samples were collected in order to measuring serum leptin, triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL), and Low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL). Pre‐ and post exercise independent variables were compared using a paired‐samples t‐test. Compared to pre‐training, the leptin levels decreased significantly (P<0.01) after aerobic exercise program in exercise group but not in the control subjects. Triglyceride concentration was decreased with exercise training whereas concentrations of LDL cholesterol did not change in exercise group (p≥0.05). Exercise training resulted in significant decrease in anthropometrical indexes (p Ë‚ 0.05) and a borderline significant increase in HDL (p=0.052). TG/HDL ratio were significantly decreased in exercise group by exercise training (p=0.028). All variable in control group remained no change in control group (p ≥ 0.05). These data suggest, despite lack significant changes in some lipid profile markers, aerobic exercise program can be improve systemic inflammation and TG/HDL ratio as a cardiovascular risk factor in obese subjects.

Abstract. Twelve older inpatients (M age = 66.8) with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) participated in this controlled pilot trial either in a physical exercise group (PEG; n = 6; aerobic, strength, and coordination exercises) or an active control group (ACG; n = 6; relaxation exercises) twice a week for four weeks. While depressive symptoms decreased in both groups, reduction of symptoms was significantly larger in the PEG. However, the PEG had higher BDI scores compared to the ACG at pretest. Neurocognitive functioning and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) concentration did not change significantly. A four-week exercise program may be a feasible adjunct therapy in older MDD patients but the efficacy of the program needs to be proven with larger samples.

Objectives: Data available on brainstem auditory evoked response (BAER) and its correlation with biochemical parameters in patients of alcohol use disorder (AUD) in Indian population is scanty. Therefore, this study was undertaken to focus on the effects of AUD on BAER and liver enzymes. Materials and Methods: This case-control study included 40 males in the study group who had AUD and 40 healthy males in the control group in the age group of 20–60 years. The BAER was performed using octopus NCS/ EMG/EP (Clarity) machine. The levels of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase and serum bilirubin were estimated in all the subjects. Results: We observed a highly significant increase in the absolute latencies of waves III and V and interpeak latencies (IPL) I-III and I-V of BAER in the patients of AUD in this study. Significant increase in the liver enzymes and especially AST/ALT ratio of patients of AUD was seen which indicated towards subclinical alcoholic hepatitis. The latencies of waves of EPs (waves III, V, IPL I-III and IPL I-V) were positively correlated with the biochemical parameters and duration of AUD. Conclusion: Our findings indicated that AUD lead to the increase in brainstem transmission time and also lead to subclinical alcoholic hepatitis which is reflected by the increase in the liver enzymes. We concluded that chronic alcohol consumption affected the auditory pathways and delayed the auditory transmission time which was suggestive of possible demyelination of auditory tracts.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the effect of a purpose-designed exercise program on performance-related musculoskeletal disorders (PRMDs) and associated risk factors in a sample of professional orchestral musicians. METHODS: A 10-week exercise program was made available to full-time musicians employed by the eight premier symphony orchestras of Australia. Questionnaires were administered before, immediately after (T1), and 6 months after interventions (T2) containing questions relating to change in frequency and severity of PRMDs, ratings of perceived exertion (RPE) during rehearsal, private practice, and performance, as well as nine performance-related factors. Participants were also asked to rate whether these performance-related factors affected their overall playing capacity during different playing situations. A comparative control group of musicians had no intervention and completed a modified questionnaire at the same time points. RESULTS: Exercise participants (n=30) reported a reduction in frequency (p<0.05) and severity (p<0.05) of PRMDs at T1 but not at T2 compared to controls (n=23). The exercise group reported a significant improvement in RPE during private practice at T1 (p<0.01) and T2 (p<0.01), but not during rehearsal and performance. At T1, the intervention was rated to be moderately to highly effective for three performance-related factors: strengthening muscles that support playing, learning techniques that support playing, and posture. Further, participants reported an intervention effect on overall playing capacity during rehearsal at T1 and T2. CONCLUSIONS: A tailored exercise program for musicians was effective at managing PRMDs, especially in reducing the frequency and severity of PRMDs. Physical therapy exercises should be considered in modifying performance-related factors that have been reported to be predictors of PRMDs.

In several countries, a lot of researches have shown the toxicity of pesticides on farmers. Meanwhile, few of them have dealt with vegetable farmers in Benin. Therefore, this study has been carried out to assess the effects of pesticides on vegetable farmers’ health. This study is conducted on 30 vegetable farmers who used pesticides and 20 subjects as control group. Pesticides used by vegetable farmers and their risky behavior were investigated. Their blood samples were collected and some tests were performed for hematological and biochemical parameters. For the statistical analysis of the results, Student’s test was used. Our investigations revealed that vegetable farmers of Benin were exposed to different active ingredients of pesticides such as (Abamectin, Acetamiprid, Chlorpyriphos ethyl, Cyfluthrin, Cypermethrin, Emamectin benzoat, Flubendiamid, Lambdacyhalothrin, Mancozeb, Profenofos, Spinosad and Spirotétramate). The hematological parameters showed significant decrease in White blood cell (WBC), Red blood cell (RBC), Hemoglobin (HGB), Hematocrit (HTC), Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV), Platelet (PLT) count among study group. The enzymatic activities of Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST), Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT) have significantly raised between vegetable farmers and the control group, while the serum concentration in urea and creatinine showed insignificant difference in the study group. These results suggest that pesticides have adverse effects on vegetable farmers of South of Benin.

AbstractObjectives:This study aims to examine effects of aerobic jogging and explosive power exercises on body composition, maximal oxygen consumption (MaxVOMaterials and methods:Thirty seven healthy males were divided into exercise group (EG, n=19) and control group (CG, n=18). EG completed 10 weeks of outdoor aerobic (jogging at 60–70% maximal heart rate reserve starting from 20 min steadily increasing up to 28 min) and explosive power exercises (in 2–3 sets, with maximum repetitions lasting 15 s), 3 times per week. All measurements were taken before and after the exercise program. BMD was measured via dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA).Results:Body mass index (p<0.001) significantly decreased; MaxVOConclusion:Performing our outdoor exercise program in spring months might have an important role in the significant increase (9 vs. 22 ng/mL) in mean vitamin D level, which reached above the fracture risk level of 20 ng/mL.

The process of germination of grains such as rice, could increase some nutritional values of  amino acids and dietary fiber. Red rice and its sprouts are believed to be able to decrease blood glucose in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). The aim of this study was to evaluate the hypoglycemic effect of red rice sprouts in STZ-NA induced diabetic rats on blood glucose level, insulin level, and HOMA-IR and HOMA-β index. This experimental study was conducted based on randomized post test only control group design using 24 male Wistar rats aged 2.5 months. Rats were divided into 4 groups, one group without induction of STZ-NA fed with a standard diet (control) and three groups of STZ- NA induced with a standard diet, red rice and red rice germ. Experiments were conducted for 6 weeks. The results showed that sprouted red rice lowered blood glucose levels by 61.88 % and the value of HOMA-IR (insulin resistance parameters) by 56.82%. Insulin level increased by 16.35 % and HOMA-β by 763.6 %. This study showed that red rice germ was able to decrease blood glucose levels and increase insulin resistance of DM rats and the strength of the pancreatic beta cells. ABSTRAKProses perkecambahan biji-bijian seperti beras, dapat meningkatkan beberapa nilai gizi seperti asam amino dan serat pangan. Beras merah dan kecambahnya diyakini mampu menurunkan glukosa darah pada penderita diabetes melitus (DM). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengevaluasi efek hipoglikemik kecambah beras merah pada tikus diabetes yang diinduksi STZ-NA terhadap kadar glukosa darah, insulin, serta indeks HOMA-IR dan HOMA β. Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental in vivo pada hewan coba tikus Wistar jantan usia 2,5 bulan sebanyak 24 ekor dengan desain penelitian randomized post test only control group. Tikus dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok, masing-masing 1 kelompok tanpa induksi STZ-NA dengan diet standar dan 3 kelompok diinduksi STZ-NA dengan diet standar, beras merah dan kecambah beras merah. Percobaan dilakukan selama 6 minggu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kecambah beras merah mampu menurunkan kadar glukosa darah sebesar 61,88 % dan nilai HOMA-IR (parameter resistensi insulin) 56,82 %. Kadar insulin meningkat 16,35 % dan HOMA β 763,6 %. Disimpulkan, kecambah beras merah mampu menurunkan kadar glukosa darah dan memperbaiki kondisi resistensi insulin tikus DM, dan kekuatan sel beta pankreas.
