Having researched the article, it becomes clear that discourse intonation (DI) is an approach to the teaching and analysis of everyday speech. The characteristics of intonation components in the formation of discourse have been touched upon in the article. The intonation is mentioned to be one of the main means in the formation of the discourse. It is a known fact that speech styles can be characterized by their lexical, syntactic and phonetic features. The attention is drawn to the distinguishing points of the speech of the people having various professions such as the speech styles of a teacher and a driver should be different not only from the lexical point of view but also from the phonetic point of view. During the conversation, one can come across some nuances of the speaker’s intellectual level, life experience and social status. It is also important to remember that the subject of the conversation is meant to be an important factor too. The object of the conversation ensures the stylistic formation of the idea. The importance of the experiment has been taken into a special consideration in the article as well. The opinion of academician L. V. Sherba that stresses the importance of the experiment has been analyzed by the author. The factors that are needed to be followed by while carrying out the language facts have been fulfilled in the article. The author tries to prove that DI is concerned with the speakers’ moment-by-moment context-referenced choices. It recognizes four systems of speaker’s choice: prominence, tone, melodicy, and termination. The discourse samples having been chosen for the experiment are fulfilled by using various sentence types. Besides, the inside structure of the sentences and their lexical contents are also taken into account in the article. Some discourse samples have been chosen in the comparable languages to be experimented in order to distinguish the intonation nature of the discourse. The experiment has been carried out by using the program “Praat”. It is noteworthy to mention that the program “Praat” is known to be a computer operation used to analyze speech sounds.

This article deals with the development of ecological linguistics as a new object of study in modern linguistics. It examines the peculiarities of language research approaches as an instrument of harmonious lifestyle of the people as well as an important means of social contact in the international research. The anthropocentric and eco-centric lines may be distinguished as competitive modes in the development of modern humanitarian sciences for the reason that they introduce different approaches to investigating processes and results of human activity. The subject of ecolinguistics is the interaction between language, man as a linguistic person and his environment. Language is considered as an integral component of the chain of relationships between man, society and nature. Special attention is paid to the notion “meaning” from the point of view of ecological linguistics. It is stressed that meaning is the link connecting the representations of interaction with the verbal and non-verbal objects in the mind of the person.

Consistent distinction of the nation (as a political form of the people, which assigned sovereignty) and ethnic group (as a historical or, at least, "natural" phenomenon) in the modernist and constructivist "conceptual framework" of defining the concept of the nation involves the exclusion of "naturalizations": in this respect the modernist theory that represents the nation as a "categorical identity" (for example, K. Calhoun), from the point of view of "political calculations" rely "is not able" to implement the task. The constructivist approach (P . Brubaker) proposed the design concept of the nation to use a concept called "ethnicity without groups"; the subject of the analysis in this article is how to apply this concept in the construction of the "postmodern" concept of the nation, "purified" from all of the typical "modernist approach" "naturalizations", identifies the purpose, objectives, possible outcomes and "beneficiaries" political strategy, using a "constructivist approach" in shaping the concept of nation and national politics.

Introduction: the paper is a fragment of the description of the phonetic features of the language of the Kirov Permians, one of the idioms of the Komi-Permian language, which native speakers live in the Afanasyevsky District of Kirov Oblast. Affricates are the subject of study. The paper examines the peculiarities of their functioning: the distribution of affricates in the phonetic structure of the word is described, and the process of transition of the consonants ǯ', ǯ, č to fricative ones is considered. Objective: to describe the positional-combinatorial conditions of the use of affricates, to trace the phonetic changes that affricates are subject to in the language of the Kirov Permians. Research materials: field materials of dialectological expeditions to the area of residence of the Kirov Permians in the period from 2002 to 2012. Results and novelty of the research: the paper analyzes affricates from the point of view of their functioning in the language of the Kirov Permians. New dialect data are introduced into scientific circulation, which can become an additional source for the comparative-historical study of the affricate system in the Permian languages. As a result of the study, it was revealed that in the studied idiom, the affricates ǯ', ǯ, č tended to gradually restrict distribution, reduce the frequency of use: in some positions, they were replaced by the corresponding fricative consonants z', ž, š. In the dialect, there is an inconsistency in the use of affricates, which reflects the peculiarities of the informants’ idiolect, as well as the incompleteness of the process of changing the considered consonants in the studied idiom

The subject is the Bible, and its relation to the Church. Hence I shall not attempt to deal with the so-called Bible Difficulties, or with the Higher Criticism, or to develop a theory of Inspiration. I must try to give a line about the general interpretation of the Bible, as being God's Book and truly inspired, written in the Church and for the Church's use; and as written by men, because it has been God's method to reveal Himself through men. It was written by men, and tells a story which is real history; therefore we must have thorough critical investigation of the Bible. It is God's Book because it tells the story of God's saving Purpose, worked out in the history of the believing and worshipping People of God, Israel, His chosen nation. Because this story is true, we have nothing to fear from the Higher Criticism. If that Criticism has been at fault, as it often has been, it is because it has often failed to see the record, as it needs to be seen, from the point of view of believing and worshipping Israel. For the Church is the People of God, God's Israel. As such, it has existed not for some 1900 years only, but for more than 3000 years, since the day when the Lord God redeemed it out of Egypt and made His Covenant with it.

Abstract This chapter presents an ethnographic study of female vendors at a Texas Renaissance festival. Ethnography provides a lens through which the systematic study of the people and cultures is undertaken from the point of view of the subject of the study. The author lived and worked with these women for 8 weeks and conducted 12 interviews during that time frame. While not all interviews included women, this chapter presents the subset of data related to gender identities, business responsibilities, and diverse cultural norms of the women operating within the Renaissance festival community. The goal of this chapter is to deconstruct the complex relationship between women as modern agents and the perceptions of historical narratives of a woman's place in community and business. As a first step in understanding female vendors, negotiated identity, and the social constructions that fuel event participation, this chapter encourages future research into the relationship between event success and vendor relationships, as well as the role of women as entrepreneurs and actors on the event stage.
