The priming may promote greater expression of the physiological potential of the seeds and contribute to the germination process under adverse environmental conditions. The objective of this study was to evaluate the physiological potential of eggplant seeds primed with different chemical agents and exposed to adverse temperatures. Seeds were subjected to priming with five chemical agents [unprimed (control); water (hydropriming); calcium nitrate (0.2%); amino acid L-phenylalanine (0.05%); L-phenylalanine (0.05%) + calcium nitrate (0.2%)] and at temperatures of 15, 25, 35 and 41 ºC, considering a completely randomized design in a factorial arrangement (5 × 4) with four replicates. The first count of radicle emission and germination, final radicle emission, seed germination, radicle emission rate index, mean radicle emission time, and seedling dry mass were measured. Germination process of eggplant seeds was completely inhibited at 41 ºC, and the optimal temperature for seed germination is 25 ºC. Calcium nitrate priming potentiates the seed germination process, resulting in higher radicle emission rate index and higher germination rate. Low temperature (15 ºC) has greater interference in the germination rate of eggplant seeds when compared to high temperature (35 ºC).

Organic and ecological farming programs require new and efficient biostimulants with beneficial properties for the sustainable and safe production of seedlings and ornamental plants. We examined the effect of non-fermented and lacto-fermented alfalfa brown juice (BJ) on seed germination and the vegetative, physiological, and anatomical properties of French marigold (Tagetes patula L. ‘Csemő’) plants which were treated with 0.5–10% fermented and non-fermented BJ, with tap water applied as a control. Applying 0.5% fermented BJ significantly improved seed germination compared with non-fermented BJ, resulting in an increase of 9.6, 11.2, 10.9, and 41.7% in the final germination percent, germination rate index, germination index, and vigor index, respectively. In addition, it increased the root and shoot length by 7.9 and 16.1%, respectively, root and shoot dry mass by 20 and 47.6%, respectively, and the number of leaves by 28.8% compared to the control. Furthermore, an increase in contents of water-soluble phenol, chlorophyll a and b, and carotenoid was reported upon the application of 0.5% fermented BJ, while peroxidase activity decreased. Our results prove that alfalfa BJ can be enrolled as a biostimulant as part of the circular farming approach which supports the sustainable horticultural practice.

The production of seedlings occurred in polyethylene plastic trays, where they were placed 2/seeds paprika cells of Yolo Wonder cultivar. After the emergence of seedlings was thinning. The experimental design was completely randomized design, containing 5 treatments with 4 replications. The treatments were T1-trays remained out of the "floating", receiving water irrigation 2 times a day; T2-trays of floating, remained out more irrigation the same solution of the "floating" 3 times a week, using 500 ml of solution per Pan; T3-were pans 12:00 are in "floating" and 12:00 am out; T4-trays remained throughout the period of the test in the "floating"; T5-trays remained throughout the period in the "floating", except in the last week. The solution was composed of soluble fertilizer, calcium nitrate, potassium chloride, Triple Superphosphate and Urea, and was changed every Ten days. The parameters analyzed were height of the plant; Root length; Fresh matter weight of shoot; Weight of fresh root matter; Dry matter weight of shoot; Root dry matter weight; Diameter of the stem. All parameters analyzed were submitted to analysis of variance and averages compared by Tukey test to 1% in the case of significance. CONDICIONAMENTO DE MUDAS DE PIMENTÃO (CAPSICUM ANNUM L.), INFLUENCIADAS PELO SISTEMA HIDROPÔNICO “FLOATING”           2 RESUMO   Objetivou-se com esta pesquisa avaliar o desenvolvimento de mudas de pimentão submetidas a diferentes condicionamentos nutricionais, sobre influência do sistema “Floating” visando, uma nova alternativa de produção, para propiciar aos produtores maior segurança em produzir sustentavelmente, para com isso garantir a produção de alimentos saudáveis e geração de renda. A produção de mudas ocorreu em bandejas de polietileno plástico, onde foram colocadas 2 sementes/célula de pimentão da cultivar Yolo Wonder. Após a emergência das plântulas, foi feito o desbaste. O delineamento experimental foi Inteiramente Casualizado, contendo 5 tratamentos com 4 repetições. Os tratamentos foram: T1- As bandejas permaneceram sempre fora do “floating”, recebendo irrigação de água 2 vezes ao dia; T2 – As bandejas permaneceram fora do floating, mais irrigação da mesma solução do “floating” 3 vezes por semana, usando 500 ml da solução por bandeja; T3 – As bandejas ficaram 24 h em “floating” e 24 h fora; T4 - As bandejas permaneceram todo o período do ensaio no "floating"; T5 - As bandejas permaneceram todo o período no "floating” ", exceto na última semana. A solução foi composta pelos fertilizantes solúveis, Nitrato de Cálcio, Cloreto de potássio, Superfosfato Triplo e Ureia, e foi trocada a cada Dez dias. Os parâmetros analisados foram: Altura da planta; Comprimento da raiz; Peso da matéria fresca da parte aérea; Peso da matéria fresca da raiz; Peso da matéria seca da parte aérea; Peso da matéria seca da raiz; Diâmetro do caule. Todos os parâmetros analisados foram submetidos à análise de variância e as médias comparadas pelo teste de Tukey a 1% no caso de significância. O tratamento que se mostrou mais viável foi o T4, pois este apresentou maiores médias para as variáveis altura da planta, diâmetro caulinar, massa fresca da parte aérea e massa seca da parte aérea.   Palavras-chave: Solução Nutritiva, Alternativa de Produção, Segurança produtiva.

This study aims to determine the dose of Trichoderma koningii which can induce soursop germination; know the best soaking time that can affect the induction of soursop germination; to know the interaction between soaking time and Trichoderma koningii dose on soursop germination. This research was conducted in April - June 2019 at the Green House of Plant Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, Sam Ratulangi University, Manado. The material used in this study was soursop seed obtained from Lota Village, Pineleng Tomohon Subdistrict, Trichoderma koningii with 106 solids obtained from the North Sulawesi Province Plant Protection Center Collection, Aquadest, 70% Alcohol, 80% Acetone, sandalready sifter and sterilized. This research was arranged in factorial with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of two factors, namely 5 treatments of Trichoderma koningii dose and 4 immersion treatments repeated three times (3x) so that a total of 60 treatment units. Each treatment unituses 10 seeds. The results of this study indicated that the dose of Trichoderma koninggi 200 g without soaking can increase the germination power by 86.67% and the vigor index by 32.96%; Immersion with Koninggi Trichoderma suspension has not been able to induce soursop seed germination rate; Theinteraction between Trichoderma koningii dose and soaking time did not affect the speed of soursop seed germination.*eprm*

However, the germination growth of red palm is slower than other kinds of palm, so the best way to germinate the red palm seed is needed. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of apliccation some young coconut water concentration and kascing fertilizer to red palm seed germination. The research used factorial completely randomized design with 5 replication, the first factor is young coconut water concentration (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%) and the second factor is germination media (steril sand and kascing fertilizer). Variables measured were live germination percentage, speed germination rate, radicula length, and plumula height. Results of this study showed that the best germination media is steril sand and 0% concentration of young coconut water.

Setting storage space temperature and time saving becomes an important application in supporting the development of plantations to provide seeds as needed and sustainable. The purpose of this research is to delay the rapid of seed germination in Magnolia champaca by assessing the effect of various suspend temperatures and times saving on seed germination of Magnolia camphaca . The research was conducted in Plant Physiology Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University in February until June 2016. The method was used completely randomized design pattern Factorial by 3 factors with 12 treatments and 3 replications with the temperature: temperature ± 31°C, temperature ± 25 °C, temperature ± 18 °C, temperature ± 4 °C and the retention of time 0 week, 2 weeks , 4 weeks and 6 weeks. The parameters include the observation of germination rate, germination, vigor index and sprout morphology. The results of the research the treatment of interaction of temperature and time saving significantly affected on germination rate, germination and seed vigor index of Magnolia champaca. Germination speed, germination and vigor index were both produced by the treatment of storage at a temperature of ± 18 °C and a temperature of ± 25 °C at all times to keep (2 weeks, 4 weeks, 6 weeks) compared to control treatment. A normal sprout produced in temperature treatment ± 18 °C and ± 25 °C temperature ranges between 90-93%. An abnormal sprout produced in control treatment (0 week) by 25%. Measurement of moisture content and physiological maturity level of Magnolia champaca seed needs to be done before it is stored and germinated to test the viability of seeds of sprouts.

Background: The high salt level of a germinating environment can lead to reduced, delayed, and even complete inhibition of germination and seeding growth due to osmotic action and/or ion toxicity. Based on this viewpoint, the aim of this study was to investigate germination temperature and salinity effects on germination and early seedling growth of soybean, which can be sown as first and second crops. Methods: Soybean seeds were subjected to NaCl induced saline germinating media prepared in petri dishes under two different germination temperatures (20±2 and 25±2oC). Thirty sterilized seeds per petri dish were sown in ten salt treatments (0, 100, 150, 250, 750, 1000, 2250, 5000, 7500 and 10000 ppm NaCl L-1). The study was carried out according to the completely randomized design with four replications. Result: Lower temperature promoted seed germination, while the high temperature significantly inhibited the seed germination at all NaCl doses tested. As a result, 25oC temperatures, which can only be measured at the time of the second sowing, have been found to negatively affect germination and also increase the negative effects of salt. Due to the moderate tolerance of soybeans to salt stress, the germination rate was positively affected up to 750 ppm NaCl L-1 dose and resulted in severe reductions in subsequent doses. Also, the tolerance of soybean was negatively influenced by the interaction of temperature and NaCl concentration.

Sunflower is a crop of great economic interest both nationally and internationally, due to its use especially in oil production. However, factors such as water restriction are commonly found in growing areas and exert a negative influence on the productive performance of the crop, especially in critical periods, such as the germination and initial development of the seedlings. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the germinate behavior of seeds of sunflower cultivars as a function of lower osmotic potentials. The experiment was installed in a completely randomized design, in a 3x5 factorial scheme, three sunflower cultivars (Charrua, Nussol and Olisiun 4) and five osmotic potentials (0, -0.2, -0.4, -0.8, -1.2 MPa) with 3 replicates. For the study, solutions of polyethylene glycol (PEG 6000) were repaired. Rolls of paper towels were moistened with the concentrations and later kept in a germination chamber at 25 °C, where they remained for ten days. First counts (4th day) and total counts (10th day) were performed, and the germination rate (%) was verified. In addition, in the last evaluation, aerial and root length, green mass and dry mass of seedlings were determined. Based on the results obtained it can be verified that in osmotic potential higher than -0.8 MPa, no germination occurred. Nussol germinated more in more negative concentrations, with a germination rate of 90%, differing from the cultivars Charrua and Olisiun 4, which, in larger potentials, reached only 30% of germination.

The aim of this study were, 1) to find out and study the effect of KNO3 immersion treatment on oil palm seed germination; 2) to find out and study the effect of coconut water immersion treatment on oil palm seed germination; 3) to find out and study the interactions that occur between KNO3 immersion treatment and coconut water to oil palm seed germination. This research was conducted in July 2019 until August 2019 in the Laboratory of the Department of Agriculture Cultivation, Faculty of Agriculture, Palangka Raya University using a Completely Randomized Design with 2 factors. The first factor is the concentration of KNO3: K0 (0%); K1 (0.2%); K2 (0.4%); K3 (0.6%) and the second factor is coconut water concentration, B0 (0%); B1 (60%); B2 (80%); B3 (100%). The parameters observed were first count germination, maximum growth potential, germination power, growth speed, radicle length, plumular length and dormancy intensity. The results showed that the treatment of KNO3 concentration significantly affected first count germination, maximum growth potential, germination rate, growth speed and dormancy intensity. Treatment of coconut water concentration significantly affected first count germination, maximum growth potential, germination rate, growth speed and dormancy intensity. The interaction between the treatment of KNO3 concentration and coconut water concentration had no significant effect on all observed parameters

This paper aims to find an optimal combination of gibberellic acid concentration (C) and soaking duration time (T) in order to speed up and to improve the productivity of konjac (Amorphophallus muelleri Blume) germination process. For this purpose, a laboratory experiment was carried out with five levels of C and four levels of T. For each combination of C and T, 300 seeds were planted in three germination trays. And by using completely randomized design, in each tray, 100 seeds were planted. On the day right after a number of days after planting (D) which consists of seven levels, the germination rate is then recorded. By using data analytics method, we conclude that the optimal combination of C, D and T is C = 200 ppm, D = 7 days and T = 6 jam. Meanwhile, for a given T and D, concentration has no effect on germination rate. It is worth noting that (i) the experiment was conducted at room temperature under controlled humidity level, and (ii) according to the knowledge of the authors, this is an unprecedented study where Gibberellic acid is applied on konjac.

Basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) plants have multiple uses, ranging from spice to cosmetic purpose, besides being a source of essential oil and aromatic. These plants were commonly propagated by seed, however, few agrotechnologies are used to enhance the seed germination and initial growth in this crop. For this reason, our research aimed to evaluate aspects of seed germination of Ocimum basilicum L. cv. Limoncino, subjected to different bioregulators applied via substrate imbibition. The experiment was carried out in completely randomized design, with four treatments, as follows: T1: control (distilled water), T2: T13 a solution of a product formulated based on indolbutyric acid + naphthalene acetic acid + gibberellic acid (0.2 mL L-1, Liko Química), T3: gibberellic acid (0.5 mM L-1, progibb-400®) and T4: brassinosteroids (0.1 mM L-1). We evaluated: germination rate, germination speed index (GSI), first count, root and shoot length and chlorophyll a, b, total and carotenoids. The bioregulators did not influence germination, first count, GSI and photosynthetic leaf pigment, but application of gibberellic acid and brassinosteroids improve the shoot and root length, respectively. The gibberellic acid and brassinosteroids are promising bioregulators for stimulating initial basil growth.
