Current trends in the development of the education sector require significant changes in approaches, methods, techniques and tasks of training. The challenges that arise need to be addressed, which will make it possible to increase the competitiveness of higher education seekers after their graduation, and, as a consequence, to improve the competitiveness of the higher education institution itself. The tasks that arise are: a change in the approach to the educational process of research and teaching staff, which must consist in the interest of teachers themselves to improve the quality of educational services they provide; a change in the approach to the educational process of learners – students, listeners, cadets, etc. – that is, it is necessary to transform those who are taught into those who learn; definition of criteria for the effectiveness of education, which is obviously not only in achieving program learning outcomes. The main criteria of efficiency of educational activity are formulated in the article. These criteria are obviously not only the amount and strength of knowledge and skills, competencies and program learning outcomes. Using only such criteria, it is impossible to fully assess the current requirements for the effectiveness of education. In the conditions of market relations, economic crisis, global mental restructuring, the main criterion for the effectiveness of training of the specialist is the ability to employ him in various positions after graduation, and possibly during training. What is more important is the ability of the job seeker to self-improve and master various competencies when changing functional responsibilities. That is, a higher education student must have a wide range of competencies, not only deep ones, which will enable him to develop under certain conditions in the performance of functional duties. Such tasks make it possible to solve the use of elements of dual education, distance technology using modern technological solutions and motivation of participants in the educational process to self-development. The article concludes that the mutual combination of dual education with distance learning technologies should ultimately solve the urgent problem of training an experienced specialist with a high level of competence who will be able to perform production tasks without additional internship or training after graduation.

The growth of international students compels examination of introspective aspects of learning experiences such as conceptions of learning. Additionally, learning conceptions profoundly impact learning outcomes (Tsai, 2009). To address the lack of research on learning conceptions of students from Africa and South America, this study examines Brazilian and Nigerian students' conceptions of learning while studying in the U.S. Reflective diaries and interviews reveal an awareness of learning as not limited to the classroom, along with clear themes regarding ideas about learning and actual learning experiences. Findings provide valuable information to institutions regarding academic support and assistance for international students.

The qualifications system reform in Serbia began in 2001, influenced primarily by the establishment of the European Higher Education Area, which created the preconditions for the development of a general framework for higher education qualifications. The reform of the existing qualifications system in Serbia required a response to the needs of the labor market, which was developing under new socio-economic circumstances. Since the beginning of the process, the development of a new system of qualifications has been implemented through two separate activities - the development of qualifications frameworks for secondary and higher education which remained non-harmonized. Although the development of individual qualifications frameworks for different levels of education is necessary for the development of a national qualifications framework, we argue that the separate frameworks remain incoherent to this day, that they do not precisely define the qualifications required to move from one level of education to another, when it comes to sociology as a subject, and that this situation affects the profiling of future sociologists. In this paper, we intend to problematize such an approach to the development of a general qualifications framework through the analysis of the contents of a domestic normative framework related to the general learning outcomes of teaching sociology at secondary and tertiary levels of education.

Psychological aspects of motivation and job satisfaction are integral parts of the effective and productive operations of any organization. In the context of higher education,it is one of the spheres, where satisfaction of faculty members, as well as appropriate motivational environment, has the paramount value for the effectiveness of a higher education institution and the quality of educational services. This research aims to explore the psychological aspects of motivation and job satisfaction of faculty members of one state university in Kazakhstan. Questionnaires concerning the job satisfaction level and motivation were distributed among 232 faculty members of one state university in Kazakhstan. The research findings show that the vast majority of participants have a relatively high level of job satisfaction, despite the existence of factors that negatively influence on the job satisfaction level, such as inappropriate work schedule, salary issues, and dealings with administration. At the same time, it becomes evident that favorable social and psychological climate, as well as relationships with colleagues can be considered as the most important components of psychological aspects of faculty members’ motivation. This study provides recommendations that can increase the job satisfaction level of faculty members and improve motivational environment in higher education institutions.

Vertebrate Zoology is a course that provides scientific insight into high-level animals with the characteristic of having vertebral bones to support their bodies. So many scientific terms and characteristics of each animal group in this course, cause problems for students to learn. Efforts to compensate for the demands of aspects of learning in vertebrate zoology learning, it is not enough to use only one type of teaching media. This study aims to examine the use of multimedia used in lectures and vertebrate zoology practicums to improve the basic competencies of prospective science teacher students. The activity model refers to the class action research model. Evaluation of learning outcomes is done by looking at the ability of students to understand each material delivered through: unit tests pretest midterms, final semester exams and structured assignment scores. The evaluation results showed that the readiness of students to receive lecture material was seen from unit I tests of 54.50% and II at 67.51%. Student readiness faces practicum material at 49.30%. The structured task results obtained 37.80% doing practicum well. Practical UTS results (average 53.18) and practicum UAS (average 67.33) showed an increase in learning outcomes by 78.98%. The UTS theory results (mean 51.42) and UAS theory (average 58.96) indicate an increase in learning outcomes by 87.21%. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of multimedia can improve the competency of prospective science teacher students, seen from the knowledge, skills, and basic values reflected in their thinking habits.

The era of globalization requires various sectors to make changes, including in the world of education. In higher education, the curriculum should be designed to comply with the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI) to respond these changes. The curriculum is based on the framework of qualification levels which equalize, juxtapose, and unify learning outcomes with work experience into the types, forms and levels of higher education. This study aims to describe the implementation KKNI based curriculum for postgraduate program at the State Islamic Religious Institutions (PTKIN) in East Java. It applied descriptive-qualitative. The data were collected using observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The data were analysed using descriptive-qualitative analysis. The results shown that the implementation of KKNI based curriculum in postgraduate at PTKIN institutions in East Java took place from 2016 to 2020. The implementation began with socialization in the form of curriculum workshops. In those workshops, a curriculum draft and guidelines for its implementation were prepared. However, there were some in the implementation. One of them is that most of the lecturers did not understand the basic concepts of curriculum. To overcome this, intensive workshops were held to prepare syllabus, semester program plans and courses for each semester.

MOOCs first became a phenomenon in the higher education landscape in 2008. Ever since, various researches have been conducted to explore the potential of MOOCs as an alternative in the learning and teaching process, and the way forward in delivering the courses effectively. Despite the growing interest in MOOCs applicability in higher education, very little is known about how postgraduate students perceive the use of MOOCs in their programme. Postgraduate students are synonymous with the concept of adult learners. One of the characteristics of adult learners is their motivation, which is driven by intrinsic and instrumental factors. As past research have concentrated on the undergraduates, this paper uncovers the postgraduates’ perceptions of MOOCs. A total of 51 respondents took part in a survey conducted in one of the Malaysian public universities. Quantitative data yielded findings similar to past research findings. However, what is new is the need for MOOC providers to cater to the needs of the postgraduate students who are adult learners particularly in determining the following; MOOCs’ attributes, learning process and learning outcomes. It is expected that the postgraduate students, their educators and the MOOC developers would find the findings helpful.

Objectives: This present study was to compare the serum electrolytes (Na, K and Cl) imbalances in hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism with euthyroidism female cases. Methods: A detail history, clinical examinations and relevant investigations were performed to all female thyroid cases. Thyroid hormones were estimated by chemiluminiscence method using Siemens Advia Centaur XP instrument. Electrolyte levels (Na+, k+ & Cl-) were measured by ion selective electrode method using Eschweiler combi. Results: Data was analyzed with the help of SPSS (version 26) software. Paired samples statistics was used. Mean ± standard deviation and t value were calculated. P value was taken less than or equal to 0.05 (p ≤ 0.05) for significant differences. Conclusions: This present study concluded that electrolytes sodium, potassium and chloride levels were significantly reduced in hypothyroidism female cases compared to euthyroids female (controls). This suggests that hypothyroid patients should be regularly checked for serum electrolytes. Early detection and treatment can prevent the further complications related to the disorder and will be helpful during the management of thyroid patients. Key words: Hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, euthyroidism, electrolytes.
