Abstract: The English language is considered the world’s most spoken language, being characterized as the communication and international relationships language. The number of people who speak this language has been increasing, and the need of knowing it precisely became a part of most of these people, so they search for lessons during their adulthood, to upgrade themselves in the business market. This need comes from the low encouragement received when it comes to bilingual education during the childhood, and this reality hits when we compare the public and private schools education, when one offers this type of education during the elementary school, and the other only introduces it from the late years in elementary school. With this in mind, the present article named “The English language teaching during the kindergarten: the gap between public and private school.” is focused in analyzing how the English language was introduced here in Brazil, and also verify the differences between the English education of private and public schools, being aware about the importance and benefits of learning a second language during the childhood. This article is based in works from authors like Santos (2011), Rossato (2012), Kumaravadivelu (2013), constituting a bibliographical research, using the qualitative method to formulate the article. From the above during this article, it was possible to conclude that children, from their curiosity, are more favorable to learn new things, so the introduction of the English education starting in their kindergarten it’s fundamental to develop interest for a new language. Thus, it was also essential to note that the differences between public and private educational institutions are factors that make working with English difficult, due to the high or low importance it receives in each institution. It appears that the English language should be more valued especially with regard to its relevance within society, which implies that the earlier it is started in schools, the more valid the knowledge acquired from it will be, and therefore the ideal is to start their learning process still in childhood, together with the Portuguese language. Keywords: Public School, Private School, Teaching, English Language, Childhood.

This study aims to determine differences in emotional and social intelligence assessment between public and private school students using Android-based PKES (Penilaian Kecerdasan Emosional-Sosial or Social-Emotional Intelligence Assessment) application in strengthening student character during the pandemic. This survey study with a quantitative approach was analyzed using a comparative model. The subjects were 120 parents and students of public and private elementary schools in Yogyakarta chosen by purposive sampling. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and Likert scale tests with the PKES application and analyzed by t-test. It reveals that state elementary school students' emotional and social intelligence emphasizes the psychomotor aspect or good behavior with the habituation method. Meanwhile, private elementary school students emphasize the cognitive aspect of character knowledge through the lecture method. The affective aspect of social-emotional intelligence in public and private elementary schools is still low. Students have not been trained to feel the good character impact with various methods, so good behavior will not last until they are old because it has not been embedded in their hearts. Different tests with t-test obtained 0.378>0.05, so the difference is insignificant. The emotional and social intelligence of public and private elementary school children during the pandemic is not much different. Because students study at home during the pandemic, their character is more influenced by parents than teachers. It implies that parents and teachers should more often train students to feel happy doing good deeds, so good character is embedded in the heart and lasts for a long time.

We are in a changing society through which the equality of boys and girls has become a major scourge. In this study, we demonstrated in the first step, a comparative study between the scores of boys and girls in three different subjects (mathematics, physics and chemistry) at secondary level. The second was to conduct a survey through a questionnaire on the satisfaction of parents on the two types of schools (public and private) and their realization in the exact sciences. The investigation put into account the fact that some high schools are selected randomly in the capital Conakry after their preparatory examinations. The first comparative method used is descriptive and explanatory design based on a sample of 1,400 school students terminal (TSM and TSE) in three schools in the capital. From the results obtained, the level of achievement for girls in exact science is still weak as well as that of students in public schools. Their levels must be improved. To conduct this study, we randomly selected 300 students out of the total population of 1866 students .In addition 400 parents were questioned about the schools, 200 of each type. We chose the Student t-test to test the hypothesis of equality between the two types of comparisons (girls and boys, public and private schools). Indeed, the results of this study show a sign of weakness in the education of girls compared with boys and dominance of private schools over public schools. According Cronbach’s alpha surveys of parental satisfaction is 0.962 and 0.899, respectively (private and public). The equipment used by the researcher for data analysis is SPSS.

Critical thinking is an emphasis on the 2013 curriculum, as an activity in learning that must be done by the teacher for that it needs analysis to describe student abilities. This research uses descriptive quantitative research method with a sample of 318 elementary school students who are in public schools in the Tampan District, Pekanbaru, Riau Province. The results of the study found that out of 18 schools with a sample of 318 students there were 9 schools that received the 'not good' category, 9 schools that received the 'not good' category. Viewed from the critical thinking indicator, it turns out that the student's ability score reaches 23 with the category of underperformance or very low under the standard of mastery learning. It can be concluded that the ability of students in critical thinking is still very low and needs government attention to improve teacher learning.

The Open Practical Laboratory in the Neurosciences (OpenLN) is an outreach program that seeks to improve the knowledge of the neurosciences by elementary school students and to promote better attitudes in relation to neuroscience, science in general, and scientists. It consists in practical and demonstration activities on the theme of the neurosciences. This outreach strategy was applied in four public schools in a municipality in Southeastern Pará, Brazil characterized by low performance in educational reviews in Brazil. Students from both sexes from 9th grade (last grade before high school) were enrolled in the program. The outreach program improved students’ knowledge about the neurosciences, and promoted better attitudes in relation to science and scientists, in comparison to students which did not go through the activities. Results suggest that scientific outreach strategies can produce results beyond immediate increases in knowledge, promoting better attitudes in relation to science.

Childhood obesity may be lessened by parent-focused interventions. A pilot parent-directed trial with 46 parents of overweight and obese elementary school students was conducted at two ethnically diverse public schools in Framingham, Massachusetts. Parents were randomly assigned to either the Materials Group, which received mailed educational materials, or the Materials plus Personal Encounters Group, which received educational materials through interactions with community health workers (CHWs). Parents completed baseline and post-intervention surveys; children’s body mass index (BMI) percentiles were measured at baseline and post-intervention. There were no differences in the reduction of children’s BMI between groups. However, the mean BMI percentile for all children dropped from 94.1 to 90.6 ( p = .005), while there was no change in BMI among a nonrandomized contemporaneous control group. Findings are limited by the lack of a true control group and small sample size. Results from this school nurse and CHW outreach program to parents are encouraging.
