Umbrian tobacco of the Virginia Bright variety is one of the most appreciated tobaccos in Europe, and one characterized by an excellent yield. In recent years, the Umbria region and local producers have invested in introducing novel practices (for production and processing) focused on environmental, social, and economic sustainability. Due to this, tobacco from Umbria is a leading commodity in the global tobacco industry, and it claims a high economic value. The aim of this study is then to assess if elemental and isotopic compositions can be used to protect the quality and geographical traceability of this particular tobacco. For the first time the characteristic value ranges of the stable isotope ratios of the bio-elements as a whole (δ2H, δ13C, δ15N, δ18O, and δ34S) and of the concentration of 56 macro- and micro-elements are now available, determined in Virginia Bright tobacco produced in two different areas of Italy (Umbria and Veneto), and from other worldwide geographical regions. The ranges of variability of elements and stable isotope ratios had slightly different results, according to the three geographical origins considered. In particular, Umbria samples presented significantly lower content of metals potentially dangerous for human health. The results of this first exploratory work highlight the possibility of characterizing tobacco from Umbria, and suggest widening the scope of the survey throughout Italy and foreign regions, in order to be used to describe the geographical origin of tobacco in general and verify the origin of the products on the market.

Anethum sowa L. (Dill) stem portions were analyzed for its macro and micro elemental concentration by XRF spectrometry collected from different places of Bangladesh. The plants were collected when those were 35 cm in height i.e. within 40-45 days of sowing. Results of proximate analyses showed that the stem parts contained highest level of moisture (93.67), ash (1.62) and dry matter (30.77%) on fresh weight basis (g/100g). The highest level of mineral contents were Ca(478.50±6.22), K(336.65±3.26), Cl(153.92±3.26), Na(114.86±1.38), S(96.65±1.76), Mg(63.96±1.15), P(49.41±0.74), Al(41.75±0.71), Fe(34.57±1.33), Si(31.03±0.18), Ni (11.98±0.22) and Ti (3.75±0.28) in mg/100g on fresh weight basis. Cu, Sr, Rb, Zn, Ba and Zr were present in small amount and Y, Cu and Mn were present in trace amount. However, the toxic elements like Co, Pb, As and Hg were not found in the present study. Presence of higher amounts of mineral contents in the stem parts could potentially be consumed as supplement as human diets or livestock feed as well as pharmaceutical preparation. The article presents data on the influence of the complex of micro elements (Fe, Cu, Zn, Co, Mn) in the form of aquacitrate on the indices of non-specific and cellular immunity in chicken broilers. The poultry received a fodder, balanced by nutrients, according to its type, age and productivity. Control group of chickens were added standard mineral premix (SP) from inorganic compounds of bioelements. Broilers of experimental groups were given water with a complex mineral additive of aquacitrates. In particular, the chickens of the first experimental group – in the amount corresponding to their content in the standard premix (SP), and the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th experimental groups – in the amount equal to 3/4, 1/2, 1/4 and 1/10 of the content of mineral elements in the standard premix. It was found that bactericidal and lysozyme activity of blood serum (BASB and LASB) were the highest in broiler chickens of the third and fourth experimental groups and exceeded the control values by 5.7 and 5.3%, respectively. In the bird of the second and fifth groups, the studied indicators were closer to the ones in control. However, in the chickens of the group D1, giving them the highest studied dose of aquacitrate of micor elements, the values of BASB and LASB tended to decrease. Concerning the level of CIC in serum, it was the highest in the chickens of the second, third and fourth groups, the lowest in the group D1. A similar pattern is also characteristic for phagocytic activity of pseudoiesinophils (PhA). The bite of half and even the quaternary amount of citrates of micro elements, compared with the amount of bioelements in inorganic form, provided an increase, compared to control, of PhA. At such a dose of micro elements in the nanoform in the blood of broilers, the number of T-total and T-active lymphocytes increased, including T-heeler cells and decreased the relative number of T-suppressors. The bird of the first experimental group was characterized by a decrease in the percentage of T-heeler against the background of a slight increase of T-suppressors. Thus, the results of studies of indices of nonspecific and cellular immunity suggest that micor elements in the nanodisperse form, due to better bioavailability and high bioactivity, have a positive effect on the formation and development of the immune system in broiler chickens at a dose corresponding to 25 and 50%, from recommended quantity of biometals in the standard premix.

Aims: The objective of the present work is the investigation of the physicochemical characteristics of seed coats and kernels from 24 species with medicinal and food applications. Methodology: Seeds from 24 species (2 herbs, 11 vines and 11 trees), belonging to 13 families, were sampled in Raipur (India) in 2017. The collected seeds were dried and weighed, after which seed coats were manually peeled and separately weighed. Phenolic and mineral contents in the seed coats and kernels were analyzed by spectrophotometric and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) techniques, respectively. Results: The seed coat fraction represented from 12% to 95% of the seed mass, depending on the species. The concentrations of total polyphenols, flavonoids and minerals in the seed coats varied from 1800 to 32300 mg/kg, from 1200 to 26900 mg/kg, and from 5876 to 36499 mg/kg, respectively. In the seed kernels, TPh, Fla and minerals ranged from 780 to 31760 mg/kg, from 300 to 12020 mg/kg, and from 12595 to 40810 mg/kg, respectively. P, S, K, Mg, Ca and Fe were found to be the main macro- and micro-elements. Seed coats from Loganiaceae, Phyllanthaceae, Lauraceae and Rutaceae families featured the highest total polyphenol contents, and those from Lauraceae and Rutaceae families showed the highest flavonoid concentrations. The highest total mineral contents corresponded to seed coats from Lauraceae, Rutaceae and Euphorbiaceae families. Conclusion: Indian-laurel and curry tree stand out as promising phytochemical and nutrient sources.

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effect of plant growth regulators and micro elements to cherelle wilt in cacao plants as well as finding the right business in tackling cherelle wilt in cacao plants. The research was carried out in the garden village folk Eris Eris Minahasa district for 8 months from January to August 2009. Spraying micro-nutrient elements is necessary to reduce cherelle wilt because the various treatments for the first observation is not significantly different, but the observations into two to seven observations to indicate a significant difference between treatments (percentage cherelle wilt on treatment without nutrient elements higher than sprayed). While spraying the treatment factor of plant growth regulators (NAA) is not necessary because the first observation and the two had no significant effect on the percentage of cherelle wilt affected only the third observation and further observations to a fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh again no effect. So is the treatment for fruit length and diameter showed that administration of the micro nutrients necessary for sprayed with micro nutrients result 22.10 cm higher than that is not sprayed is 19.43 cm. As for the diameter of the fruit is affected by plant growth regulators. Treatment is better than 200 ppm 100 ppm and 0 ppm (control).
