Relevance. The breeding stock and young cattle in the conditions of industrial technology of animal husbandry experience an increased antigenic load, which leads to disturbances in the immune status and the development of inflammatory processes manifested by endometritis and mastitis, diarrheal and respiratory syndromes. It was relevant to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the immunological reactivity of the animal’s body according to the state of resistance in cattle with clinical and subclinical mastitis, depending on the age of lactation. As a result of complex studies, the specific and nonspecific reactivity of the body of cattle in different periods of lactation was studied.Methods. The object of the study were cows of a black-and-white Holstein breed (n = 450). Groups of animals were formed according to the age of lactation:1st lactation, 2–3rd lactation, 3–4th lactation and for health reasons: clinically healthy animals, with subclinical mastitis and clinical mastitis. Milk samples were taken from cows to count the number of somatic cells, and blood to determine the quantitative content of IgG immunoglobulin and indicators of nonspecific resistance.Results. It was found that with mastitis in cows of different lactation ages, almost identical changes in the immune status were observed. Quantitative determination of IgG levels in animal blood serum is the basis for assessing the immunity of cattle. The immune status in clinically healthy animals was characterized by a higher level of the total amount of IgG immunoglobulin in the blood serum (amounted to 22.25 ± 0.70 mg/ml), whereas in cows with a subclinical form of mastitis, the level of IgG immunoglobulin decreased by 12.3%, with a clinical form of mastitis — by 17.2%. The results also showed that in cows of different lactations with subclinical and clinical mastitis, the bactericidal activity (by 10.8%) and the lysozyme activity of the blood increased significantly (by 8.22%). In cows with clinical mastitis — by 8.6% and 9.7% respectively, compared with the indicators in groups of healthy animals. Thus, mastitis, occurring in acute and subacute form, leads to a decrease in the resistance of the cows’ organism.

The article deals with the influence of the use of means for young pigs Globigen® Pig Doser та Globigen® Jump Start, which due to the content of specific Ig Y have immunostimulatory properties. Assessing the level of nonspecific resistance of piglets, which are based on determining the content of T- and B-lymphocytes and their populations in the blood of animals 30-, 60- and 120-day-old, the trend of increasing the number of T-helpers, T-natural killers and B-lymphocytes in the experimental groups of animals of both farms. It was found that the content of T-helpers during single-phase rearing of pigs became more important under the action of Globigen® Pig Doser and ranged from 30.16−35.15 %, and during three-phase rearing – under the action of Globigen® Jump Start 34.58−35.08 %. An increase in the content of B-lymphocytes to the level of physiological norm was noted: FE PE “Glynjany Agro” (single-phase cultivation) in the first experimental group 16.75–19.45 %, in the second 17.66–21.11 %. At Ltd. “Meat Resources” (three-phase cultivation) 17.7–21.02 % and 18.91–21.01 %, respectively, in the first and second experimental groups. Regarding the indicators of the content of T-natural killers, there is a tendency to increase their number in the blood of animals of experimental groups by an average of 4.90 % for single-phase rearing and 3.09 % for three-phase rearing of pigs. Such data give grounds to claim that there is a formation of the immune response to the action of pathogens, which plays an important role in maintaining the barrier function of the intestinal mucosa, which in turn reduces mortality and increases the average daily gain of young pigs. Under the action of immunostimulants, the safety of piglets in FE PE “Glynjany Agro” (single-phase rearing) at 30 days of age increased to 81.3−93.7 %, and in Ltd. “Meat Resources” (three-phase rearing) to 80.0−86.7 %. In piglets FE PE “Glynjany Agro”, up to 120 days of age, the average daily gain was 0.710 and 0.691 kg using Globigen® Pig Doser and Globigen® Jump Start, and in piglets from Ltd. “Meat Resources” these figures were 0.595 and 0.628 kg.

Relevance . Respiratory infections are the most common in the world. In order to prevent epidemics, there is a need to improve the strategies for organizing medical care and develop new approaches in order to increase the nonspecific resistance, mobilize innate immunity. Objective . The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of glucosaminylmuramyldipeptide (GMDP) on the level of expression of markers of differentiation and activation of functionally significant subpopulations of dendritic cells in peripheral blood mononuclear cells of healthy donors, the second aim was to assess the effectiveness of GMDP in the prevention of acute respiratory infections in an unfavorable epidemiological period of the COVID-19 pandemic. Materials and Methods . An open comparative study included 309 apparently healthy participants, aged 19-22 years. At the first stage of the study, 42 participants (22 female and 20 male) took the drug Licopid 1 mg for 10 days according to the instructions, 1 tablet 3 times a day in order to prevent acute respiratory infections. Peripheral blood sampling was performed before taking the drug (day 0) and the next day after the last dose of the drug (day 12). Evaluation of the expression of markers of differentiation and activation of dendritic cell subpopulations HLA-DR, CD11c, CD123, CD80, CD83, CCR7, CD3, CD14, CD20 was assessed by flow cytometry. At the same time, mRNA was isolated from mononuclear cells of perfusion blood and, after reverse transcription, the level of gene expression was determined by RT PCR. At the next stage, the effectiveness of the prophylactic use of the drug Licopid in 267 students of the Institute of Physical Culture was assessed in order to prevent acute respiratory infections in an unfavorable epidemiological period; the observation period was 12 months. Results and Discussion . A study of the relative quantitative composition of DCs in the peripheral blood of healthy donors by flow cytometry revealed the possibility of an increase in their total number, as well as subpopulations of MDC and PDC under the influence of GMDP. There was a statistically significant increase in the receptors for the chemokine CCR7, which is responsible for the recruitment of DCs to the secondary lymphoid organs. Analysis of the levels of expression of genes XCR1, CD11b , and CD103 showed a statistically significant effect of GMDP on an increase in their expression compared to the baseline level (before GMDP intake), with the mean value being higher in participants undergoing moderate exercise. It was found that the use of the drug Licopid 1mg for the purpose of preventing and reducing the seasonal incidence of acute respiratory infections at the stage of basic training of students of the Institute of Physical Culture contributed to a decrease in the incidence of acute respiratory infections within 12 months of observation after taking the drug. The number of episodes of acute respiratory infections decreased 3.7 times, while the group with 3 or more episodes of acute respiratory infections during the year, which constituted 14.5 % of participants, completely disappeared. The maximum efficiency of GMDP was observed in the track and field command, in which the number of participants who had no episodes of acute respiratory infections during the year increased by 7 times. Conclusion . Our data complement the modern understanding of the molecular mechanism of action of GMDP and substantiate the possibility of its experimental and clinical use in order to develop new strategies for organizing medical care in order to increase the nonspecific resistance of the organism.

The paper considers modern approaches to the zoning of territories and the selection of people for life in extreme environmental conditions, taking into account modern geopolitical challenges. It is shown that it is possible, based on the allostasis concept, to conduct not only the selection of persons with a high level of nonspecific resistance, but also to quantify the degree of extremity of environmental factors using the standard represpiration test. Key words: adaptation, extreme conditions, selection, hypoxia, cold, rerespiration, allostatic load.

In addition to providing partial protection against pediatric tuberculosis, vaccination with bacille Calmette-Guérin (BCG) has been reported to confer nonspecific resistance to unrelated pulmonary pathogens, a phenomenon attributed to the induction of long-lasting alterations within the myeloid cell compartment. Here, we demonstrate that intravenous, but not subcutaneous, inoculation of BCG protects human-ACE2 transgenic mice against lethal challenge with SARS-CoV-2 (SCV2) and results in reduced viral loads in non-transgenic animals infected with an α variant. The observed increase in host resistance was associated with reductions in SCV2-induced tissue pathology, inflammatory cell recruitment, and cytokine production that multivariate analysis revealed as only partially related to diminished viral load. We propose that this protection stems from BCG-induced alterations in the composition and function of the pulmonary cellular compartment that impact the innate response to the virus and ensuing immunopathology. While intravenous BCG vaccination is not a clinically acceptable practice, our findings provide an experimental model for identifying mechanisms by which nonspecific stimulation of the pulmonary immune response promotes host resistance to SCV2 lethality.

Abstract The article describes a method of preventing postpartum obstetric-gynecological diseases and improving cow reproductive function due to the increase of body nonspecific resistance with the application of electropuncture and biopreparation Prevention-N-C (Chuvash State Agrarian University, Russia) and Salus-PE (Chuvash State Agrarian University, Russia). The cows of the 1st group were injected three times 45-40, 25-20 and 15-10 days before calving intramuscularly at a dose of 10 ml/head with the biopreparation Prevention-N-C, and the cows of the 2nd group were injected according to the same scheme and the same term with Salus-PE, and the cows of the 3nd group electropuncture was performed on the Vocal-B device (BIORS, Russia) immediately after childbirth, three times, after 48 h. The use of biopreparations during critical periods of cow steeliness reduced the risks of subinvolution of the uterus, endometritis and mastitis in the postpartum period and increased the reproductive qualities of cows. It has been shown that after the use of Salus-PE, 100% of cows are fertilized, 60% of which are fertilized in the first sexual hunt, and 40% - in the second. The insemination index was 1.4.

Abstract The article presents the results of studies of the effectiveness of the use of the complex probiotic preparation Immunoflor in young hens of egg cross. In the course of the research work, it was found that the use of the probiotic preparation Immunoflor does not affect the clinical and physiological state of the body of young chickens, but at the same time reduces the incidence, mortality and increases the safety of the chickens by enriching and balancing the poultry diet, reducing the conversion feed, optimization of digestion, stimulation of the development of positive microflora in the gastrointestinal tract. The use of the complex probiotic preparation Immunoflor in the diet of young chickens at a dose of 15 g/t of water and 15 g/t of feed contributes to an increase in the number of erythrocytes, leukocytes and hemoglobin concentration, activation of cellular and humoral factors of nonspecific resistance of the body of chickens, providing a normal physiological state and homeostasis.

Increasing the ability of the human body to adapt in conditions of physical or emotional stress is promising from the standpoint of the use of preventive nutrition containing functional food ingredients (FFI) with proven effectiveness in complex physiological in vivo studies. In this work, we developed FFI from spinach leaves (Spinacia oleracea L.) with a high content of polyphenols and adaptogens—phytoecdysteroids. Using in vivo models of increased physical activity and immobilization-induced emotional stress, we evaluated the nonspecific resistance of rats in response to the addition of the developed FFI to the diet. In the acute toxicity experiment, we found no signs of FFI toxicity up to 5000 mg/kg body weight. As a result of the daily 26-day consumption of FFI, we observed an anxiolytic effect in physiological studies. FFI prevented an increase in the content of biogenic amines in the blood, the main markers of the stress system, and had a positive effect on the lipid metabolism of the rats. The obtained results demonstrate a “smoothing” effect on the body’s reaction in response to induced stress conditions.

The aim of our study was to determine the phagocytic activity of leukocytes and nitrosine tetrazolium test (NST - test) in the dynamics of experimental periodontitis (EP) and immobilization stress (IS). It is established in the work that the indicators studied by us, namely phagocytic number, phagocytic index and NST - test increase on the 3 rd, 5 th and 15 th days of our experiment. The above tests have a high diagnostic value and allow to characterize the degree of activity of the inflammatory process and determine the participation of individual parts of the body's defense mechanisms. The obtained results make it possible to express the opinion that polymorphonuclear leukocytes take an active part in the formation of EP and IS, as well as indicate the stimulation of metabolic processes in leukocytes.

Objective: We assessed the impact of the detergents, based on anionic surfactants, for the care of the children’s tableware on the indicators of the immune system of the experimental animals. Materials and methods: The effect of aqueous solutions of Alionka, Karapuz, Ushastyi Nian, Frosch Baby detergents on the indicators of the immune system was performed in the experiment with guinea pigs during 21 days. We determined the number of T- and B-lymphocytes, the number of neutrophilic granulocytes and active phagocytes; studied the reaction of the precipitation of circulating immune complexes with a solution of polyethylene glycol 6000. We used the methods of statistical processing of the results of medico-biological research. Results: The obtained results showed that the epicutaneous impact of all studied detergents for the care of children’s tableware could cause the immunomodulatory effects in the organism of guinea pigs. Changes in the largest number of the indicators of the immune system, which affected all links, were observed when exposed to Ushastyi Nian detergent. The least pronounced changes of the immunity were observed when exposed to the Frosch Baby detergent and they concerned only the indices of nonspecific resistance of the organism. The revealed inhibition of the functional activity of neutrophilic granulocytes, which was observed in animals of all experimental groups, may indicate a decrease in the protective functions of the organism of guinea pigs.
