Science is not a simple increase of knowledge, but a change in state of mind. This demands a personalized approach to the teaching/learning process, the consideration of new spaces serving to gain information and experiences, as well as making use of the dialogical nature of man to create a learning community. The child cannot be a background for teachers’ actions but an authentic real creator of his/her development. School should evolve from a socially and culturally authorised knowledge-transferring institution into an agency which will be a community of life and work. This paper focuses on selected aspects of a new culture of learning: constructive, self-regulated, situated and collaborative, that prepares the student for smooth functioning in a world marked by change.

The main aim of the AHKME e-learning platform is to provide a system with adaptive and knowledge management abilities for students and teachers. This system is based on the IMS specifications representing information through metadata, granting semantics to all contents in the platform, giving them meaning. In this platform, metadata is used to satisfy requirements like reusability, interoperability and multipurpose. The system provides authoring tools to define learning methods with adaptive characteristics, and tools to create courses allowing users with different roles, promoting several types of collaborative and group learning. It is also endowed with tools to retrieve, import and evaluate learning objects based on metadata, where students can use quality educational contents fitting their characteristics, and teachers have the possibility of using quality educational contents to structure their courses. The learning objects management and evaluation play an important role in order to get the best results in the teaching/learning process.

The Geo-Gebra software as a didactic tool in the teaching-learning process of mathematics and its impact on academic performance in the first semester students of the Faculty of Natural Resources, Agronomic engineering career of ESPOCH. The problem that has been detected in the students of the first semester, a high rate of low performance in the learning of mathematics, in the race because there is a culture of learning on the part of the students, it is determined that we must make profound changes in educational paradigms, the proposal for this process is to use the Geo-Gebra software didactic tool of mathematics, for the research was based on a questionnaire of questions applied with respect to the use of Goe-Gebra software, as a teaching resource in teaching- learning of mathematics, then with the use of this tool a form of satisfaction was applied to students and teachers, to later make the didactic guide using the Geo - Gebra educational software, hence the importance of making striking designs according to the level or semester and with contents attached to the current geometry plans and programs in which  educational. According to the work experience, a didactic guide was designed for the use of educational software specifically for inequations. It is concluded the research carried out that 72% of the students surveyed consider, using the ICTs it would improve the learning of the geometry and its academic performance; Therefore, it is recommended to train the teachers of the area and promote the proposal in the institution for the application in the teaching-learning process.

[This Proceedings paper was revised and published in the 2018 issue of Journal of Information Technology Education: Research, Volume 17] Aim/Purpose: The purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between teacher presence and social presence on one hand, and feelings of challenge and threat, self-efficacy, and motivation among students studying in virtual and blended courses on the other. Background: In this study we examined two types of courses, virtual courses (VCs) and blended courses (BCs). Physical separation between teacher and learners may lead to transactional distance, which should be reduced through teacher presence (TP) and social presence (SP). Methodology: This is a mixed-method study. Participants completed a threat/challenge questionnaire, a motivation questionnaire, a self-efficacy questionnaire, and answered open-ended questions. The sample included 484 students from two academic institutions in the Israel. Contribution: The study highlights the connection between critical factors involved in learning and teaching in VCs and BCs (teacher presence, social presence, feelings of challenge and threat, self-efficacy, and motivation) from the point of view of students studying in VCs and BCs. Findings: We found a link between teacher presence and social presence on one hand and feelings of challenge and threat, self-efficacy, and motivation of students in VCs and BCs on the other. At the same time, we found that the perceptions of motivation, challenge, and threat associated with VCs and BCs are interrelated, that is, students have similar perceptions in relation to both types of courses. Recommendations for Practitioners : It is preferable to create a learning environment that supports the learners and is attentive to their needs and to the creation of an active learning community. It has been found that these factors greatly influence the process and the quality of learning in the course. Recommendation for Researchers: The study examined the subjective feelings of the students about the learning process in virtual and blended environments. We recommend continuing to explore the characteristics of the virtual environment and of teaching methods in these environments. Impact on Society: The combination of virtual and blended learning environments in the learning process may lead to the realization of the educational vision of creating a learning environment that supports students and responds to their needs, enabling autonomous and collaborative learning while creating a learning community. Future Research: It is advisable to examine the issue from the perspective of the teachers in VCs and BCs to elucidate the topic from other angles.

Evaluation of a technologically mediated college-level biology course has been done objectively as well as subjectively. Comparison is made with data accumulated from a traditionally taught biology course. Comparison reveals grade improvement through the use of educational technology. The learning environment is superior and student acceptance of technology is overwhelmingly favorable. The multimedia program has had a positive effect on the teaching-learning process. The challenge is to develop and use systems more effectively.

The article deals with the issue of inclusive education, which is one of the priorities of contemporary educational policy. The author describes both the idea of inclusion and the assumptions of inclusive education, as well as introduces the legal aspects of this issue. Particular attention was paid to the situation of students with special educational needs, for whom inclusive education is an opportunity to optimize the teaching-learning process. The final part of the article presents selected practical solutions that can be used by teachers to build a learning environment friendly to students with special educational needs.

A modified Teaching-Learning in Classroom (TLC) theoretical model is presented in this paper. It describes the general learning process of undergraduates in NUS in the context of the GEQ1000 module offered by the Office of Provost. The results of the simulations are within the range of expectations, such that in general, the students’ knowledge level increases over the course of a 13 weeks module. GEQ1000 is a compulsory module taken by all NUS first year students ([Formula: see text]2800 per semester).

The purpose of this article is to offer an insight into the  results of the situation analysis of teaching technical disciplines in professional universities. The aim of this study is to better understand the impact of learning environment organization into students’ groups at youth age while teaching technical subjects. Qualitative research method (unfinished sentence method) was used to study the opinion of students about the organization of teaching/learning process. Quantitative method of research (vector modelling by B. Ясвин) was used revealing prevailing types of learning environment in professional university.

High spirit in enhancing teaching learning process in the framework of Lesson Study does not always show high performance in the overall management of the learning community. Big- unpredictable obstacles appeared in each stages and need certain reflection and specific treatment to cope with. In other words, it is really interesting to implement Lesson Study but, on the other hands, several phenomena appeared beyond the theory of Lesson Study it self. This paper tries to uncover the obstacles of the practice of implementing Lesson Study to improve teaching learning process of TEAL (Teaching English as an Additional Language) class in the English Department of University of Muria Kudus. Stages of teaching learning process was done in the concept of Lesson Study: Planning, Doing, and Reflecting. These stages were implemented with the main purpose to switch what the so called teacher centered learning to students centered learning. There are many obstacles appeared during teaching learning activity of “Lesson Study” of TEAL. Most of them dealed with how the colleques of the teacher take the role as members of learning community who hopefully played important role in developing the concept of teachng learning and material development. The second obstacles had something to do with the learning habit of the students which has been established in mood of being good listener in the classroom. The third obstacles worked in the session of reflection where it seemed difficult for some of the involved person to portrait the real problem in lesson study class.
