Sutures are the most versatile materials used in surgery. Despite recent technological advances and availability of novel materials such as tissue cements, it appears that surgical sutures will continue to be used for many years to come. The objective of this study was to provide an overview of the most common absorbable sutures used in general surgery. The appropriate suture choice for a particular procedure is of key importance for the success of that procedure.

Packaging is a steadily growing industry that faces many challenges as well. Ever growing consumer expectations, though competition, technological advances don’t come even close to the huge issue of sustainability within the industry. Packaging for the beauty industry is dependable on the looks more than any other with massive changes in the recent years since extensive grooming became a part both genders lifestyle today and spreading those standards across the globe. The global cosmetic packaging market was valued at USD 25.9 billion in 2018 and is expected grow 4.8% in the next 5 years flying high on the innovative package designs, increasing demand for cosmetics focused on the middle class and youth as well as e-commerce. The first stepping stone is that more than half of the materials used for the massive cosmetic industry packaging are plastics. Finding alternatives and making a shift to a greener and circular way will be a challenge in the years to come.

Polylactic acid (PLA) surgical sutures are a new type of absorbable sutures that can be degraded and absorbed in the body. However, there is high hydrophobicity for the surface of PLA sutures, which leads to poor biocompatibility and cellular affinity. In order to increase the hydrophilicity, the PLA sutures were etched by lipase firstly, and then grafted with chitosan. The results indicate that the optimal conditions of treating PLA sutures by lipase were as follows: 45℃ reaction temperature, 4.5 g/L concentration of lipase and 8 h reaction time. The sutures were etched by lipase and then formed some grooves and a number of hydroxyl (-OH) bonds, which led to increased surface area and hydrophilicity, but a drop in mass and strength. The optimal conditions of grafting chitosan onto PLA sutures were as follows: 4 h reaction time and 3 g/L concentration of chitosan. The chitosan grafted and loaded on the surface of PLA sutures, and in some areas of the sutures the chitosan reunited, which led to a rough surface and large friction coefficient. Finally, the hydrophilicity of the PLA sutures, treated by lipase and then grafted with chitosan, was greatly improved.

Technological advances have developed rapidly nowadays. These technological advances are also in line with the development of ways of communicating both orally and in writing. In terms of writing, maintaining aspects of data security and confidentiality is very important. Many technologies can be used to secure data such as cryptography and steganography. This research will use the First of File and End of File Steganography Algorithms to secure data. Steganography is the science of hiding messages or data in the media. The First of File and End of File methods are one of the many methods commonly used in the Steganography Algorithm. Generally, the First of File and End of File methods are not much different. The First of File method inserts a message at the beginning of the file, while End Of File inserts a message at the end of the file. This technology can also be applied again for the years to come. This research produces an overview after a review study of the application of the FOF and EOF steganographic algorithms, the speed of steganography and the differences in the image after steganography in terms of image size and pixel. Kemajuan teknologi sudah sangat berkembang dengan pesat pada era sekarang. Kemajuan teknologi ini juga seiring dengan berkembangnya cara berkomunikasi baik secara lisan maupun tulisan. Dalam hal tulisan, menjaga aspek keamanan dan kerahasiaan data sangatlah penting. Banyak teknologi yang bisa dipakai untuk mengamankan data seperti kriptografi dan steganografi. Penelitian ini akan menggunakan Algoritma Steganografi First Of File dan End Of File untuk mengamankan data. Steganografi merupakan ilmu menyembunyikan pesan atau data ke dalam media. Metode First Of File dan End Of File merupakan salah satu dari banyaknya metode yang biasa digunakan pada Algoritma Steganografi.Umumnya,metodeFirst Of File dan End Of File tidak jauh berbeda. Metode First Of File akan menyisipkan pesan diawal file sedangkan End Of File akan menyisipkan pesan di akhir file. Teknologi ini juga dapat diaplikasikan kembali untuk tahun-tahun kedepannya. Penelitian ini menghasilkan gambaran setalah studi review penerapan algoritma steganografi FOF dan EOF , kecepatan steganografi dan juga perbedaan gambar setelah di steganografi dalam hal ukuran dan pixel gambar.

Abstract This paper addresses the key issues that go into the making of a heavy truck wherein steel made parts are used in the making of a chassis , so here the challenge for both for the bodyframe designer of the automobile industry and the sheet metal designer of the steel industry to come up with solutions that not only addresses problems relating to the lowering of the weight but also making it strong enough to bear enough loads taking into account changes in materials used , kinematics – differences in body angles that affects the velocity of the actions directed , how parts connected not only in the truck but also in the processes followed including changes in design and thereafter the prototypes to be tried out in the face of oncoming changes . A pentagonal framework that includes open cost modelling as well a business model that talks of creating a value streams in consonance with the changes for the uncertain future has been included.

The rise of technology in healthcare has led to dramatic changes in approaches to patient care by healthcare professionals. The realm of digital health has created new opportunities for pharmacists to engage patients in clinical practice. Pharmacies and industry are increasingly integrating these innovations into their businesses and practice. This article highlights areas of digital health for pharmacists to be aware of, in particular regarding areas of medication adherence and disease management. Technology plays a massive role in our individual lives; it has morphed the human experience in ways that were simply unimaginable 50 years ago. We use technology in nearly every facet of our lives. From detecting an appropriate intensity with which to brush our teeth to counting calories lost through the course of a day, technology has made a major impact on individual health. The integration of technology into our everyday lives has changed the way we communicate, how we capture and share our lives with others, how we seek answers, and how we experience life overall. Given this change in the way people operate, it is important that pharmacists adapt to these trends and incorporate technology into daily practice. The incorporation of mobile devices and technology into healthcare has been coined as mobile health (mHealth), which falls under the broader spectrum of digital health.1 –4 Digital health focuses on the integration of mobile tools (e.g., smartphones), wearable devices, and telehealth to help personalize the treatment of patients through the widespread adoption of wireless technology. The idea of involving pharmacists in mHealth has been a topic of recent interest, due in large part to the potential ramifications for the profession.4 Today, patients are using the Internet to research their health questions and help guide their personal health choices, and some of the information they find can be misleading and unreliable. It is of the utmost importance that healthcare professionals ensure there are credible sources for patients to research their questions. As pharmacists, we can research and recommend tools to patients to help solve problems related to drug information, medication adherence, and access, which includes the recent rise of novel technological devices. All of our patients will have different comfort levels with technology; despite this spectrum, there is a place for everyone to feel comfortable using digital health tools. However, there are recent technological advances coming to the field, which are already providing a benefit to patients, ranging from mobile applications to wearable technologies to ingestible medications that notify providers of patient medication adherence. We seek to help pharmacists understand the different areas of digital health, which may have substantial influence on the realm of pharmacy practice in the years to come by addressing current and upcoming digital health developments.

Surgical site infection (SSI) is a frequent complication of surgical procedures. The aim of this study was to analyze the clinical evidence for SSI prevention with triclosan-coated sutures (TCS) in abdominal surgery and to investigate the economic impact of TCS in this type of procedure compared with conventional absorbable sutures (CS). A literature review was carried out to identify meta-analyses that were published between 1990 and 2019 that assessed the use of TCS in abdominal surgery. A budget impact analysis was performed from an Italian hospital perspective based on the most recently published evidence to simulate the financial impact of TCS in a general surgery unit. Uncertainty was explored through scenario analysis, as well as deterministic and probabilistic sensitivity analyses. Nine meta-analyses and two additional randomized clinical trials were retrieved. All meta-analyses described a reduction (range 19%–44%) in the risk of SSI when TCS were used. The use of TCS was associated with an overall annual net saving for the general surgery unit of €14,785 and a reduction of 3.2 SSIs compared with CS. Sensitivity analyses resulted in a positive annual saving associated with TCS in 98% of scenarios. TCS are a valuable, cost-saving SSI prevention strategy. TCS additional costs would be offset by the reduction in SSIs.

Miniaturization has been the driving force of scientific and technological advances over recent decades. Recently, flexibility has gained significant interest, particularly in miniaturization approaches for biomedical devices, wearable sensing technologies, and drug delivery. Flexible microfluidics is an emerging area that impacts upon a range of research areas including chemistry, electronics, biology, and medicine. Various materials with flexibility and stretchability have been used in flexible microfluidics. Flexible microchannels allow for strong fluid-structure interactions. Thus, they behave in a different way from rigid microchannels with fluid passing through them. This unique behaviour introduces new characteristics that can be deployed in microfluidic applications and functions such as valving, pumping, mixing, and separation. To date, a specialised review of flexible microfluidics that considers both the fundamentals and applications is missing in the literature. This review aims to provide a comprehensive summary including: (i) Materials used for fabrication of flexible microfluidics, (ii) basics and roles of flexibility on microfluidic functions, (iii) applications of flexible microfluidics in wearable electronics and biology, and (iv) future perspectives of flexible microfluidics. The review provides researchers and engineers with an extensive and updated understanding of the principles and applications of flexible microfluidics.
