Contemporary media organize exchange by means of Internet, bridges, convergences, double addressing… The result is overproduction of hybrids with mixed weak ontology and inclusion of digital augments into living space. Implementation of technology makes people face a change and requires domestication of innovations and subsequent products of the language of mathematics. Adaptation is slower than the technological change. What counts is an actual range of transformations and cultural content. It is about proxemic schemes characteristic of numerical media and schemes according to which media space is perceived, presented, understood and created. Experiencing a place and recording human reactions to a digital place lead to geopoetics. Virtual geographies and patterns of home and route… repeated by media result in questions about imagined communities and content which is able to integrate them nowadays. Two strategies of being-in-the-world dominate in late modernity: naturalization and nostalgia. In the context of them people still live in the horizon of home and of encountering the others, and a global culture still remains a question of time.

This article explores connection or disjuncture between everyday life and global culture. Efforts to de-essentialise or pluralise urban globalisation have focused on local negotiations of discourse or the macro effects of the world city, here rhythmanalysis is used to bridge these approaches. The analysis develops on the tension between the theoretically-based multiplicity and reflexivity of late-modernity, and the structured reality that has been documented. The global city is stratified through spatial and dispositional-embodied qualities that dramatically truncate the possibility of encountering unfamiliarity through everyday life. These stratifications lean on each other and replicate as ‘small worlds’ of co-constitutive, comfortable spaces. To explore this, Lefebvre’s rhythmanalysis is used to explicate participant accounts of going to a nightlife district in Hong Kong for the first time. For some, the district is present in daily life, contributing to a fluent connection and orthodox visitation. Meanwhile, subjects who visit under less seamless conditions reflexively feel out of place and corporally distinct. This article contributes to understanding the micro-politics of late-modernity, the very real, yet transparent, spatial and embodied barriers which truncate individual flourishing in late-modern societies.

The author compares several quantitative and qualitative approaches to forecasting to find appropriate methods to incorporate technological change in long-range forecasts of the world economy. A?number of long-run forecasts (with horizons over 10 years) for the world economy and national economies is reviewed to outline advantages and drawbacks for different ways to account for technological change. Various approaches based on their sensitivity to data quality and robustness to model misspecifications are compared and recommendations are offered on the choice of appropriate technique in long-run forecasts of the world economy in the presence of technological change.

In the information society the status of information is changing: this main value of global civilization becomes an important resource of socio- economic, technological and cultural development. The rapid development of virtual technologies and the growing number of Internet users in Ukraine and in the world causes the new challenges to communication of each organization. The book publishers are also obliged to respond to these processes. However, the works devoted directly to publishers’ communication in the modern media space are still lacking in Ukraine. The objective of the article is to clarify peculiarities and conditions of the activities of Ukrainian book publishers in today’s media space which is an important issue today. It is analyzed the literature and sources on this issue and it is ascertained the theoretical and practical possibilities to take into account the trends in the world of modern media in the PR-activity of book publishers. Also the prospects for further scientific study and practical use of PR-communications in the activity of publishers are determined. The analysis of current changes in the modern information space allows us to trace the general tendencies: the new subject and object areas are formed; the number of subjects is expanded; the new formats of interaction within the system of communications of the organization and in society as a whole are created. That means that publishing house’s PR-communications are complicated by the emergence of new elements, such as active audience, social networks as communication channels, promotions on the Internet and others. PR communication in the Internet space is the most effective and inexpensive tool for interaction of publishers with active audiences. Thus, the activation of PR communication in the modern media space is associated with the emergence of the latest information technologies, online media as well as development of Internet. The use of online channels of Internet for communication with the target audience of publishing organizations has certain advantages over traditional media. At the same time, it is necessary to take into account the information saturation of media space, which complicates the way of PR-messages of book publishers to the reader.

In this review article on identity, language learning, and social change, we argue that contemporary poststructuralist theories of language, identity, and power offer new perspectives on language learning and teaching, and have been of considerable interest in our field. We first review poststructuralist theories of language, subjectivity, and positioning and explain sociocultural theories of language learning. We then discuss constructs ofinvestmentandimagined communities/imagined identities(Norton Peirce 1995; Norton 1997, 2000, 2001), showing how these have been used by diverse identity researchers. Illustrative examples of studies that investigate how identity categories like race, gender, and sexuality interact with language learning are discussed. Common qualitative research methods used in studies of identity and language learning are presented, and we review the research on identity and language teaching in different regions of the world. We examine how digital technologies may be affecting language learners' identities, and how learner resistance impacts language learning. Recent critiques of research on identity and language learning are explored, and we consider directions for research in an era of increasing globalization. We anticipate that the identities and investments of language learners, as well as their teachers, will continue to generate exciting and innovative research in the future.

A performative introduction, by Kuba Mikurda, to Johan Grimonprez’s Double Take (2009). Based on the themes of duality, playing for both sides, and doppelgänger fantasy, the tells not only the tale of Alfred Hitchcock’ lifelong fascination with such motifs, but also of the Cold War (and its influence on our contemporaneity) as a Hitchcock-esque reality. Using archive footage of Alfred Hichcock Presents, where the author of Psycho impersonates various alternative versions of himself, Grimonprez shows that the two sides of the Iron Curtain are actually two sides of the same coin – perfect mirror images of its double. The same is true for Cold War paranoia, the returning phantom of a global conflict, or atom war – it is ultimately difficult to say whether the films of the master of suspense, such as Birds and North by Northwest are its manifestation or is it maybe that in the current state of late modernity, our experience of the world took on the features of a Hitchcock film. Grimonprez – an artist known for gallery projects and theoretical interests, offers a story of the duplexity of a divided world – a slightly histo/erical one and full of distance and games. All the same, as Karen Beckmann reminds us, “the sameness of a twin is based on the repressed memory of division, breakage, and a sudden partition”.

The vanishing centrality of broadcast television has turned into a key issue within contemporary media studies, thus making the end of television a familiar trope in scholarly discourses and opening the way to a redefinition of the present-day phase in terms of post-broadcast era. Besides recognizing that there are plenty of places in the world where the broadcast era is still alive, this article makes the claim that the discoursive formation of the passing of television as we knew it may offer media scholar-ship the opportunity to assume the viewpoint of the end as the privileged perspective from which the broadcast era can be looked at anew, eventually acknowledging the reasons why it is liable to be praised rather than buried.

We are witnessing that Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have a huge impact on the functioning of the world. This explains why the tools they provide play such an important role in the educational process, their use opens up numerous opportunities and perspectives in education. Today, aware of the inevitability of digital technologies in the functioning of the world, and of the benefits they bring, we try to use them as meaningfully as possible in education.In the visual arts, ICT technologies provide various opportunities for exploring multicultural and multi-technological content. The social tendencies of the 21st century set new criteria for the modern man - creativity, flexibility and innovation, which also requires the development of educational systems in accordance with these new, changing conditions. In the context of contemporary teaching and the education process in the field of art, new technologies certainly deserve special attention as a medium and a means that enables students to apply them to innovative forms of communication, research, learning and creative expression in the field of visual arts. Today's media bring flexibility, speed, accessibility, interchangeability of digital data and this is what makes contemporary media essential in the teaching of fine arts. The basis of modern media used in the teaching of fine arts are personal computers supported by internet connection, with specific software and various input-output devices. With the use of contemporary media in a specialized classroom for the teaching of fine arts, one can speak of an increase in the choice of teaching, an increase in the choice of means of learning and expression, and finally, an increase in individualization in teaching.In the twenty-first century classroom, the teaching of fine arts is increasingly influenced by external influences, so that the classroom is a place for students to learn, explore, do and evaluate works of art. The wealth of information offered through the use of information technology is multiplied by many over the traditional media. The basis of modern media used in the specialized classroom for the teaching of fine arts are computers supported by internet connection, with specific software and various input-output devices.
