There comes a time when a researcher speaks to librarians and the aftermath of the articulation echoes for days, maybe even weeks. danah boyd’s rapid-paced, information-packed RUSA President’s Program presentation at the ALA Annual Conference 2015 in San Francisco resonated around three topics:How technology can complicate our understanding of the world and the people around us by presenting information outside of its original contextHow technology can expand the ways in which we understand the world and the people around us by bringing us into contact with ideas, cultures, and contexts that we would otherwise be unawareHow increased data collection, and issues of classification, storage, and access are creating challenges to personal privacy

Mr President, Distinguished Delegates, Excellencies, Colleagues, Ladies and Gentlemen: Assalam-o-Alaikum. The Annual Conference of the Pakistan Society of Development Economists has traditionally provided the people of Pakistan—both practising economists and ordinary citizens—with a forum to debate in a rigorous analytical framework the major economic issues facing the country. In this context, the theme of the current conference “Growth, Poverty and Decentralisation” is particularly appropriate as Pakistan begins the 21st century. Many important issues will be discussed by the honourable participants during the Conference and an excellent start reflecting the quality of the debate has been made by the paper just presented by Dr Kemal. I, on my part, would like to take this opportunity to talk about Pakistan’s economy in an overall poverty elimination perspective and particularly the potential and challenges facing it in this regard. As a starting point, a summary of the potential of the Pakistan economy is in order. First, Pakistan is the home of the oldest and largest integrated land and water systems in the world. The world’s other old river basins—the Nile and the Tigris/Euphrates—have remained relatively minor, while Pakistan’s Indus Basin is still vital and robust. Last year, Pakistan’s record wheat crop again showed the world the potential of the Great Indus Food Machine.

A sense of nationalism is very important for the young generation of Indonesia to become a developed nation, a modern nation, a safe nation, and a peaceful, just and prosperous nation in the midst of globalization that increasingly challenges the Indonesian state. As a nation and a state in the midst of other nations in the world, a high national identity is needed from its citizens, especially among the young generation of Indonesia. The spirit of nationalism is still needed by the existence of the Indonesian people and the state. High nationalism from citizens or the younger generation will create positive and best behavior for the nation and state. In the current era of globalization, there are factors that cause the waning of the spirit of nationalism among the younger generation. This can be seen from several benchmarks, namely the lack of youth understanding of cultural values. Teenagers are now more likely to follow western culture which is very far in comparison with the norms and customs of the Indonesian nation, The main cause of the fading spirit of nationalism and nationality from the next generation of the nation is mainly due to the wrong and uneducational examples shown by the older generation or the elderly who tend to prioritize interests individuals and groups rather than prioritizing the interests of the nation and the people. This research method uses quantitative methods with data collection using literature studies based on the sources read.
