Ipomoea carnea Jacq. grows as wild plant in India. It is identified as a useful material for several applications including medicinal purposes. Different extracts of Ipomoea carnea plant possess anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-cancer, anti-convulsant, immune modulatory, antidiabetic, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, anxiolytic, sedative, cardiovascular, inhibition and wound healing activities. However, some toxicological effects have been also reported. In this review the potential of phytochemical, pharmacological and other activities of Ipomoea carnea are discussed.

Litsea glutinosa (Lour) Maida Lakdi is an evergreen tree belonging to family Lauraceae it is a native to India.1,2,3 Ethinomedically the bark is used by the traditional practitioners as a demulcent, emollient and in the treatment of diarrhea and dysentery. According to ancient Unani classical text books by our ancient scholars which was used for mostly bony diseaseslike Fracture (kasar), Joint pain(Hudaar), gout(Naqras), sciatica(lrqun nasa), anti inflammatory(Muhalil e Auram), spacity of nerves(Tashannunj e Asab), nervine tonic(Muqavi e Asab)etc. and now a days further activities were found by various scientific studies paving a way for multi functional activities like Anti oxidant , analgesic anti inflammatory, anti pyretic, anti microbial, anti bacterial, anti fungal anti helminthic, wound healing, hepatoprotective, nephro protective, anti infertility,anti hyperglycemic and anti hyperlipidemic.

Alchornea floribunda is a small evergreen plant that grows up to 32 feet tall. It belongs to the family of Euphorbiaceae and is found mainly in African forest undergrowth. In Nigeria it’s leaves, stems and roots are widely used in folkloric medicine in the management of many ailments and diseases. The pharmacological activity of A. floribunda depends mainly on the part used. The leaves have been documented to possess anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-cancer activities while the roots and stems have been reported to possess antibacterial activity. Thus, this review summarizes all the findings and information about the phytochemistry, biological activities and various isolated bioactive constituents from the leaves, roots and stems of Alchornea floribunda.

The medicinal herb Brachystelma togoense schtlr (Apocynaceae) is used traditionally for treatment of ailments.   The secondary metabolites, phaeophytin a, α-amyrin and lupeol were isolated from the CH2Cl2 and MeOH extracts of Brachystelma togoense.  The structures were elucidated using 1H, 13C and 2D NMR. These phytochemicals have previously being reported to have various biological activities such as anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and anti-cancer. The presence of phaeophytin a, α-amyrin and lupeol in Brachystelma togoense justified the use of the plant for medicinal purpose in Nigeria.

The genus Bursera belongs to the family Burseraceae and has been used in traditional Mexican medicine for treating various pathophysiological disorders. The most representative phytochemicals isolated from this genus are terpenoids and lignans. Lignans are phenolic metabolites known for their antioxidant, apoptotic, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, and anti-protozoal properties. Though the genus includes more than 100 species, we have attempted to summarize the biological activities of the 34 lignans isolated from selected Mexican Bursera plants.

Since ancient times human utilized the nature to cure various ailments. The knowledge of medicinal plants resulted in the development of various indigenous systems of medicine worldwide. Serendipitous discovery as well as scientific approach on the reason for medicinal properties of plants gave the knowledge of chemical constituents such as secondary metabolites in plants. Wrightia tinctoria which is commonly known as ‘Danthapala’ is a known potential medicinal plant, the leaves of which is traditionally used in the treatment of psoriasis and non-specific dermatitis in Siddha and Ayurvedic systems of medicine and distributed in tropical region belongs to the family Apocynaceae. This plant is beneficial for the treatment of dandruff, various scalp and skin disorders. Phytochemical and pharmacological investigation on the various parts of the plant showed anti-ulcer, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anthelmintic, anti-cancer, anti-dandruff, wound healing and anti-anxiety activity. The current review focus on providing an update on the recent pharmacological and phytochemical investigations on the plant by researchers around the globe with special emphasis on Antisporiatic, Antifungal, Antibacterial, Antiviral, Cytotoxic, Anti-inflammatory, Anti-diabetic, Analgesic, Hepatoprotective, Anthelmintic, and Wound healing activities.

Benzotriazole (BTA) is a nitrogen containing heterocyclic derivative containing three nitrogen atoms at 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions with chemical formula C6H5N3. Benzotriazole and its derivatives have great significance in medicinal chemistry and these derivatives were used by several chemists for therapeutic conditions because it possessing a wide spectrum of pharmacological activities including anti bacterial, anti fungal, anti viral, anti inflammatory, anti hyperglycemic, anti hypertensive, anti cancer and analgesic activity. In this review, different synthetic methods for the preparation of benzotriazole, importance of benzotriazole derivatives in biomedical research, highlighting its biological behavior, versatile activities and Structure Activity Relationship (SAR) studies are described. This review will help the researchers to understand the structure activity relationships and improvise the concepts in their research field. Vruddhadaru is one of the important herbs in Ayurveda. It has been used in Ayurvedic traditional literature for various diseases and improves the health. It is also used as folklore medicine. Out of its entire therapeutic spectrum, the herb is famous for its wound healing activity for longer time. The Latin name of Vruddhadaru is Argyreia speciosa(Syn.-Argyreia nervosa; Family-Convolvulaceae).Argyreia speciosa is commonly known as Vruddhadaru in Sanskrit, Vidhara in Hindi, Elephant creeper in English and Samudrashosha in Gujarati. It has many synonyms like Aavegi, Chhagalantri, Vrushyagandhika etc.  It has been described in Dhanvantari Nighantu, Madanpala Nighantu, Kaiyadeva Nighantu, Raj Nighantu, Bhavaprakasha Nighantu, Nighantu Adarsh etc. This shows the importance of the drug. It is usually appreciated for its aesthetic merit. Therapeutically proven activities of this plant are – analgesic & anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-convulsant, anti-diarrheal, anti-fungal, anti-microbial, anti-obesity, antipyretic, anti-stress, anti-ulcer, anti-viral, aphrodisiac, CNS effect, hepatoprotective, hypoglycaemic, immunomodulatory, nootropic, wound healing activity etc. It is very interesting to observe that most of the pharmacological screened activities are documented in Ayurveda by various authors but in the language of Ayurveda. It shows that the former scientists (Ayurveda Philosophers) are extreme aware about the activity of the herb and was in practice as an Ayurveda medicine. The conventional evidences about the activity are the proof that there must be a scientific technique with the traditional healers to document the properties of the herb. The present review explains the correlation of the same activity noted by two different streams. Sponges are marine animals that can produce bioactives that are useful as anti-virus, anti-fungal, antibiotic, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidants. Amphimedon sp., sponge itself is found in the waters of Lembeh islands, the City of Bitung. This study was to determine the inhibitory activity against the microorganisms growth of Amphimedon sp., sponge, against microbes of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans. Based on the results of the study, the extracts and fractions of Amphimedon sp., sponge samples did not have microbial inhibitory activity against the test microbes of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans Keywords : Amphimedon sp., Antimicrobial, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans   ABSTRAK Spons merupakan hewan laut yang dapat menghasilkan bioaktif yang bermanfaat sebagai anti virus, anti jamur, antibiotik, anti kanker, anti inflamasi, dan antioksidan. Abstract Background The unique and vast pharmacological activities of flavonoids have made them of research interest. This led to the use of various techniques to isolate and characterize them, intending to determine their potential health benefits. Main text The medicinal values of plant-based flavonoids that this literature review tends to summarize the pharmacological activities of these secondary metabolites from 22 selected plant families. The pharmacological shreds of evidence reported in the literature have proven that flavonoids have shown anti-cancer, anti-microbial, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-ulcer, and anti-edematogenic activities. Out of these, 30% showed to have anti-oxidant activity, key in protecting the body against free radicals. Besides, 18% of the references showed anti-microbial and anti-cancer activities. Further literature reports indicated that flavonoids from these families exhibited anti-inflammatory and anti-edematogenic (9%), anti-viral and anti-ulcer (5%), anti-fungal, anti-nociceptive, and anti-histamine (2%). Conclusion The pharmacological activities of flavonoids from the various sources reviewed in this study show that the secondary metabolites could provide a scaffold for the development of potent anti-cancer drugs in the future.

Abstract. Wound healing consists of a series of highly orderly overlapping processes characterized by hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. Prolongation or interruption in each phase can lead to delayed wound healing or a non-healing chronic wound. Vitamin A is a crucial nutrient that is most beneficial for the health of the skin. The present study was undertaken to determine the effect of vitamin A on regeneration, angiogenesis, and inflammation characteristics in an in vitro model system during wound healing. For this purpose, mouse skin normal fibroblast (L929), human umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC), and monocyte/macrophage-like cell line (RAW 264.7) were considered to evaluate proliferation, angiogenesis, and anti-inflammatory responses, respectively. Vitamin A (0.1–5 μM) increased cellular proliferation of L929 and HUVEC (p < 0.05). Similarly, it stimulated angiogenesis by promoting endothelial cell migration up to approximately 4 fold and interestingly tube formation up to 8.5 fold (p < 0.01). Furthermore, vitamin A treatment was shown to decrease the level of nitric oxide production in a dose-dependent effect (p < 0.05), exhibiting the anti-inflammatory property of vitamin A in accelerating wound healing. These results may reveal the therapeutic potential of vitamin A in diabetic wound healing by stimulating regeneration, angiogenesis, and anti-inflammation responses.
