Acne is derived from the Greek word “acme” which means “prime of life”. It is mostly considered to be benign and self-limiting condition but if it is ignored than it can progress to lifetime presence and scaring of the skin. Almost 85% of adolescence are affected by acne and from here males are at higher ration that female due to testosterone level that causes increase size in sebaceous gland which in turn causes more production of sebum (oil production). Women are affected more during adulthood due to imbalance of premenstrual hormones and over use of oil based cosmetics. There are many different factors that contribute to acne formation and it has many different forms. Herbal medication are considered safer than allopathic medicines because allopathic medicines are associated with various side effects such as like contact allergy, local irritation, scaling, photosensitivity, itching, redness, skin peeling, necrosis of the skin etc. In this study there are 3 herbal plants were used to prepare cream formulation that were used to investigate the anti-acne property. The aim of this research work was to develop formulations and to perform its evaluation as an herbal anti-acne cream. The objective of this study was to focus on the ant-acne or anti-bacterial effect of the formulated polyherbal cream containing three plants, Thyme, Aloe Vera and Basil. The results showed that the formulation 10 showed potential anti-acne property had that twice more concentration of aloe Vera than basil and thyme.

: Wound healing is a process which starts with inflammatory response after damage occurrence. This process happens by restoring the wound surface coating tissue, migrating fibroblasts to form the needed collagen, forming a healing tissue and finally contortion and extraction of the wound. Today, various drugs are used to heal the wound. However, the used drugs to repair wounds have some defects and side effects. In spite of all attempts to accelerate wound healing definitely, no safe drug has been introduced for this purpose. Therefore, the necessity of identifying herbal plants in ethnopharmacology and ethnobotany documents with healing effect is felt essential. In this article we tried to review and present Iranian effective medicinal plants and herbal compounds used for wound healing. Searching was performed on databases including ISI Web of Science, PubMed, PubMed Central, Scopus, ISC, SID, Magiran and some other databases. The keywords used included wound healing, skin treatment, medicinal plants, ethnobotany, and phytotherapy. In this regard, 139 effective medicinal plants on wound healing were identified based on ethnopharmacology and ethnobotanical sources of Iran. Medicinal plants such as Salvia officinalis, Echium amoenum, Verbascum spp., G1ycyrrhiza glabra, Medicago sativa, Mentha pulegium, Datura stramonium L., Alhagi spp., Aloe vera, Hypericum perforatum, Pistacia atlantica and Prosopis cineraria were the most important and effective medicinal plants on wound healing in Iran. These native Iranian medicinal plants are full of antioxidants and biological compounds and might be used for wound healing and preparation of new drugs.

: Obesity is a major lifestyle disorder and it is correlated with several ailments. The prevalence of obesity has elevated over the years and it has become a global health problem. The drugs presently used for managing obesity have several side-effects associated with them such as diarrhoea, leakage of oily stools, etc. On the contrary, herbal plants and natural products are considered safe for use because they have lesser side effects. New compounds isolated from medicinal plants are screened and identified to determine their effectiveness and potential in preventing abnormal weight gain. In this review, the medicinal plants and natural materials were surveyed across the literature to cover those that have potential for managing and controlling weight gain, and their mechanism of action, active component, and experimental methodologies are also included. These herbal products can be developed as formulations for therapeutic use in obesity. The herbal plants mentioned in the review are classified based on their mechanism of action: inhibition of pancreatic lipase and appetite suppression activities. The ability to inhibit pancreatic lipase enzyme has been used to determine the effectiveness of herbal products for the prevention of abnormal weight gain because of its action on dietary fat and suppression of appetite. This review is an attempt to summarize the herbal plants and natural products that can be used to develop formulations effective in controlling weight gain and obesity.

Plants have been used for health disorders and to prevent diseases including epidemics since times immemorial. Many plants are used as Phytomedicines in dentistry because they possess varying degree of biological and antibacterial effects. In endodontics, plants and their extract can be used as irrigant and intracanal medicament to prevent the potential side effects caused by conventional chemical agents. Such herbal preparations are derived from the roots, leaves, seeds, stems and flowers of medicinal plants. This paper emphasize on the advantages of different herbal plants and their products when used as phytotherapy in endodontics.

Acne is one of the most common skin diseases and usually affects almost everyone. Herbal remedies can be given to treat acne and do not cause side effects. The purpose of writing is to see the effectiveness of herbal remedies for healing acne. Methods: Recent literature reviews were conducted using the electronic databases of Pubmed, Wiley Online and Science Direct. The review method uses keyword terms and phrases of Herbal Medicine, Acne, and Facial Treatment. Results: From the results of 9 studies, it was found that there was anti-acne activity of herbal plants and was relatively safe because there were no severe side effects compared to conventional or synthetic treatments. And there is the effectiveness of herbal remedies for healing acne. Conclusion: Herbal plants have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. Some of the recommended plants based on journal reviews for treating acne include: Nigela Sativa L, Amurense Phellodendron, Tea Tree Oil, Mangosteen Fruit Skin, Aloe Vera, Lavandulla, Paper Murbey, Green Tea, Hops, Aloe Ferox, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate).

In today's era, most of the diseases are treated by allopathic drugs. The reliance on allopathic drugs for the treatment of most diseases is gradually increasing day by day due to their rapid effects and the immediate relief to patients. However, these drugs induce some serious side effects in patients, and in some cases, the patient may die. Thus, the interest of researchers is growing day by day towards medicinal plants for the treatment of diseases. It has also been viewed that some herbal plants have great therapeutic and pharmacological effects in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. The initial studies, which have been carried out by different researchers, demonstrated very valuable results and enlighten a ray of hope for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease which is associated with CNS disfunction. In this article, the author focused on those plants which are especially used in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

Malaysia is rich in natural and herbal resources which have the potential to be used as traditional medicine as well as cosmetics. These plant sources are used by the folklore to help in enriching their beauty. Leaves, fruits, flowers and roots of medicinal plants in Malaysia are used in cosmetic formulations to get different biological effects. Health issues with particular reference to skin issues, such as acne, dry skin, dull skin and alopecia can be alleviated by using these plants. Since time immemorial, herbal products have been used in maintaining and enhancing physical appearance of humans. Herbal cosmetics have growing demand in the world market and is an invaluable gift of nature. This review is about ten commonly available medicinal plants in Malaysia used in the cosmetic formulations which includes Aloe vera, Curcuma longa, Cocos nucifera, Cucumis sativus, Melaleuca alternifolia, Punica granatum, Garcinia mangostana, Carica papaya, Lawsonia inermis and Hibiscus rosasinensis. These are the ten plants that are commonly used traditionally in treating many skin conditions and hair problems. Different parts of the plant may produce different beneficial effects to the consumers. Using the herbal and natural ingredients in cosmetics alleviates the side effects almost to nil. This is predominantly lower than the side effects caused by synthetic cosmetics.

Abstract: The use of herbs, for health. Herbs are plants that can be used as drugs both leaves, stems, or roots. Herbs is partly used by the community for traditional or alternative medicine. Besides, the herb also has the advantage, that does not have side effects, treatment can be carried out by family members sendiri.Tanaman is an alternative herbal treatment that has been done by the people of Indonesia have traditionally. The successful use of herbal plants is strongly influenced by people's knowledge about the benefits of each type of medicinal plants, especially herbs that have been studied empirically. It is also influenced by how the use of each herb for a variety of different diseases. This study aims to determine the use of herbs for health. This research method is descriptive, with a sample of 53 respondents drawn by simple random sampling technique. The data collection conducted direct interviews with respondents and the open-air observation. Research instrument used was a questionnaire. The result showed that all respondents had been using herbs for health. The conclusion of this study was the use of herbs for health still needs to be improved further by providing the knowledge, awareness, willingness and ability of thecommunity.

Background: Constipation refers to difficult or delayed bowel emptying lasting 2 weeks or more and causing anxiety and distress in patients, and it is one of the most common problems in children. To treat constipation, therapeutic measures such as nutritional methods, feedback training, osmotic laxatives and stimulants, as well as stool volume enhancers, are used; however, each has its own problems and side effects. Medicinal plants have been shown to be effective in the treatment of many diseases, including constipation. Therefore, this review was conducted to report the medicinal plants effective for constipation. Methods: In the current review, eligible articles indexed from databases such as ISI (Web of Science), PubMed, Scopus, Islamic World Science Citation Center, Scientific Information Database, and Magiran were retrieved using the keywords ‘constipation’, ‘children constipation’, ‘baby’s and newborn constipation’, ‘medicinal plants’, and ‘traditional medicine’. Results: Available evidence showed that the medicinal plants Olea europaea, Phaseolus vulgaris, Prunus armeniaca, Brassica oleracea var. italica, Malus domestica, Linum usitatissimum, Aloe vera, Vitis vinifera, Foeniculum vulgare, Ficus carica, Ricinus communis, Sesamum indicum, and Descurainia sophia are some of the most important medicinal plants for the treatment of constipation in traditional medicine. Conclusion: Herbal plants are important for isolation/ preparation of new drugs in the treatment of constipation in children. In future studies, it may be beneficial to further understand and classify herbal plants/remedies, based on their mechanisms, as laxatives in the treatment of constipation.

Objectives: Acne vulgaris is a very common skin disorder peaks at teenage, but many men and women between 20-40 years of age are also affected by the disorder. For the treatment of acne, herbal medication are considered safer than allopathic medicines as allopathic medicines are associated with side effects such as like contact allergy, local irritation, scaling, photosensitivity, itching and redness of the skin etc. The present research work was performed to check effectiveness of foaming face wash formulation containing Curcuma longa along with herbals excipient Aloe vera, Rosa centifolia and Citrus sinensis. Curcuma longa have been reported to contain active phytoconstituents having significant anti-microbial activity and used locally for acne. Method: The plant material Curcuma longa, Aloe vera, Rosa centifolia and Citrus sinensis were authenticated and their extracts has been prepared using Soxhlet Apparatus and the the resulting essential oil was analyzed for its physical properties. The foaming face wash was than prepared by using the herbal extracts with excipients that were free from sulphates, parabens, silicon and petroleum products. Two formulations, A1and A2 has been prepared and their physicochemical studies were perfomed. The presence and efficacy of Curcuma longa in suppression of Propionibacterium acnes was assessed by analytical methods and anti-microbial techniques, respectively. Skin irritation studies were conducted using Wistar rats by scoring method. Accelerated stability studies were also performed for a period of 60 days. Result: The physicochemical properties were evaluated and found to be satisfactory. Analytical techniques like High Performance Liquid Chromatography, High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography and Infra Red spectral analysis confirmed the qualitative presence of Curcuminoid, which is a mixture of curcumin, desmethoxycurcumin [4-hydroxycinnamoyl-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxycinnamoyl) methane] and Bis- demethoxycurcumin [bis-(4-hydroxy cinnamoyl) methane] in the sample. The Antibacterial activity of developed face wash assessed against Propionibacterium acnes was more than that of Clindamycin (10μg/ml). Also, the developed formulation showed a very high activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis with respect to the activity of the standard clindamycin. The prepared formulation showed no sign of localized reactions were confirmed by a skin irritation study indicating the formulation was safe and compatible with the skin. Conclusion: On the basis of our study, it could be stated, that formulation has antimicrobial activity and could be used safely on human skin

Cancer is the second leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Although chemotherapy and radiotherapy enhance the survival rate of cancerous patients but they have several acute toxic effects. Therefore, there is a need to search for new anticancer agents having better efficacy and lesser side effects. In this regard, herbal treatment is found to be a safe method for treating and preventing cancer. Here, an attempt has been made to screen some less explored medicinal plants like Ammania baccifera, Asclepias curassavica, Azadarichta indica, Butea monosperma, Croton tiglium, Hedera nepalensis, Jatropha curcas, Momordica charantia, Moringa oleifera, Psidium guajava, etc. having potent anticancer activity with minimum cytotoxic value (IC50 >3μM) and lesser or negligible toxicity. They are rich in active phytochemicals with a wide range of drug targets. In this study, these medicinal plants were evaluated for dose-dependent cytotoxicological studies via in vitro MTT assay and in vivo tumor models along with some more plants which are reported to have IC50 value in the range of 0.019-0.528 mg/ml. The findings indicate that these plants inhibit tumor growth by their antiproliferative, pro-apoptotic, anti-metastatic and anti-angiogenic molecular targets. They are widely used because of their easy availability, affordable price and having no or sometimes minimal side effects. This review provides a baseline for the discovery of anticancer drugs from medicinal plants having minimum cytotoxic value with minimal side effects and establishment of their analogues for the welfare of mankind.
