Idea generation (ideation) is at the root of creative and innovative endeavours as creative ideas lead to innovative outcomes. Identifying creative ideas is a function of knowledge and practice, whether individually, in a group or outside of those sources. Entrepreneurial practice reveals that ideas can be sourced from entrepreneurs, their employees and customers thus impacting business growth, especially in an emerging entrepreneurial society like Nigeria. This study aimed to reveal how three different sources of idea generation influence business growth in Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State, Nigeria. The survey purposively sampled 195 entrepreneurs, 71 males (36%) and 124 females (64%), judged to engage in creative businesses. The age range is as follows: 20-25 years (14), 26-30 years (69), 31-35 years (52), 41-45 years (18), 46-50 years (4) and 51 years and above (3). Data analysis involved descriptive statistics and regression analysis. Results revealed a significant number of the sample agreeing that there is a significant influence between individual, corporate and customer-centred ideation on business growth of the sampled entrepreneurs and consequently seek ideas from these sources. This study suggests the creation of awareness of the import of ideational skills among current and budding entrepreneurs and their employees through training to engender continuous creative and innovative growth in Nigerian businesses. Government and policy makers are to provide incentives and policies for business growth around the power of ideation. Limitations are also discussed.

This study examined the impact of Non-performing loans on bank’s profitability using information asymmetry theory and bad management hypothesis. This study adopted causality research design using panel data (2007 to 2015) of 16 commercial banks in Tanzania. The study employed Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis estimation methods. Likewise, Ordinary Least-Squares (OLS) regression technique was also used, and then Fixed Effects (FE) and Random Effects (RE) assumptions were considered. The study found that occurrence of non-performing loans is negatively associated with the level of profitability in commercial banks in Tanzania. The results extend further the information asymmetry theory and bad management hypothesis. The findings of the study have both theoretical and managerial implications for practitioners and policy-makers

The present paper seeks to investigate the Machiavellianism in relation with Emotional Intelligence among Adolescents. It was hypothesized that Machiavellianism and Emotional Intelligence would be negatively correlated and Emotional Intelligence would be a significant contributor in predicting variance in Machiavellianism. In order to test the hypothesis 240 adolescents (120 females and 120 males) in the age range of 13 to 18 years were selected through random sampling. The measures used were Machiavellianism Scale (Mach IV Scale) and Modified Schutte Emotional Intelligence Scale (Schutte 1998). The correlation coefficient and regression analysis were used to assess the data. The results revealed significant and negative relationship between Machiavellianism and Emotional Intelligence .Emotional Intelligence emerged as a significant predictor of Machiavellianism. Thus, considering the possibility that individuals might have a dispositional tendency to emotionally manipulative behaviour immediately brings to mind the trait of Machiavellianism.

This study examines the priority of values affecting the behaviour of local consumers in the Saudi Arabian hospitality industry. The sample consists of Saudi nationals who have stayed in a hotel in Saudi Arabia. A review of the literature provides studies of values and demographic factors that could lead to differences in behaviour between gender (male vs female) and education (educated vs less-educated). There is currently little understanding of whether, or how, Saudis from different socio-cultural environments, represented in this study with different demographic profiles, differ in their values. This study considers whether there are any such differences linked to these demographic differences. The research uses a quantitative online survey based on established constructs of Kahle’s List of Values. Data were analysed in SPSS using descriptive statistics, independent samples t-tests, and regression analysis. This quantitative study finds that there are significant differences in the value of excitement, warm relationships with others, and fun and enjoyment were noted according to education level; also the value of self-fulfillment according to gender.

Male and female are two indispensible wheels of a chariot, thus both complement each other and this is a fact that without any one of them, it is just impossible to imagine the smooth continuation of the journey of life. India is a country where women were worshiped as Goddess. Though the society in which we live has been shaped historically by males. But recently the existing scenario appears to be changing with the realization of strengths among females. A harmonious society appears to be emerging with the fast speed of decline in gender-specificity. In order to empirically confirm these notions, the present researchers decided to explore and compare the profile of strengths of male-female adolescents. A test of Hindi adaptation of Value In Action (VIA) Inventory of Strengths for Youth by Shree and Singh (2013) was used. A purposive sample of 150 adolescents in which 75 were males and 75 were females with the age range of 13-17 years was drawn from Rohtak city, Haryana. The descriptive statistics was used to find out the mean differences in strengths of male and female adolescents. They differed to some extent in their profile of signature strengths. Further the profile of top five strengths also called “signature strengths”, the male and female differed in two out of five signature strengths. The similar signature strengths found in both male and female adolescents were such as judgment/critical thinking, appreciation of beauty and love, however they differed on two strengths such as zest and perspective were found in male while kindness and modesty were found in female. The inference drawn from the current study is that females are more humane than the male counterpart whereas males are found to be more courageous than females. The need to foster or enhance certain strengths in specific gender are discussed in the paper.

The study evaluated the constraint of competition on urban crop farming in Lagos with a view to identifying issues that must be resolved to facilitate practitioners’ land accessibility in the metropolis. Crop farmers in seven out of ten communities where urban crop farming was found to be thriving within the metropolis were selected through multi-stage sampling which involved both purposive and simple random samplings and were administered with structured questionnaires. All the farming communities were delineated by the Lagos State Agricultural Development Authority (LSADA). Data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics while linear regression analysis was used to test the formulated research hypothesis. The study showed that farmers were forced out (19.5%) of their locations, 10.3% vacated voluntarily, 1.4% left due to high rents, 2.9% unidentified and 67.8% were missing values. Urban farmers in the study area were, however, found not to be affected by competition and high rents as they were occupying marginal lands that did not attract other competing uses. The regression analysis showed that competition constraint accounted for 3.5% of farmers’ productivity establishing that competition with other uses significantly affected urban farmers’ productivity as they were consigned to marginal lands. The study therefore concluded that government should support/promote the activity by providing agricultural lands in designated areas of the metropolis for urban farming.

The main aim of present study was to examine the relationships between well-being, Religiosity, A study was made on convenient sample of 50 young adolescents (females) age range of 18 to 22 years and used 4 tools (i) Well-being scale (Edinburgh, 2006) (ii) Religiosity scale (Bhusan,1970) (iii) Consciousness scale (Brazdau,2009) (iv)Locus of control scale (Rotter,1966). Co relational design was used. Results indicate that Well-being and Religious scores are positively correlated (r=0.31, p<0.05). There is also high positive co relational between well-being and consciousness scores (r=0.42, p<0.01). Thus increases in consciousness and religious scores led to increase in well=being scores among young adolescents. Multiple regression analysis was also used (R=0.46) and it showed that Consciousness has highest contribution in determination of criterion variable i.e. well-being, the regression coefficient being 0.15. Religiosity has less contribution and locus of control has negligible contribution, the regression coefficient being 0.05 and 0.003 respectively.
