The development of mathematical skills, especially those specific to geometry, for the primary cycle is a triple challenge in the current context of education in Romania. The first of the challenges is given by the fact that classical education, but also the online one, has become an activity, still unstructured, concerning movements, decisions, and political pressures, implicitly with the changes that occurred in the ministerial apparatus. The second challenge is given by the methodological changes and of the school curriculum, which comes as a completion of the first challenge, being felt even in the teaching-learning-evaluation specific to geometry. The third challenge is given by the weight that teachers face in making geometry a discipline that appeals to students, attractive. In this sense, the challenge for us is to show that this triple barrier can be overcome. As such, the present study proposes a mixed method of presenting the geometric contents in the classroom for the preparatory group, class I and II, through the prism of the instruments offered by the Romanian thematic philately. The results of the study are presented in the form of worksheets, of which we present only fragments to summarize the possibilities arising from the association of thematic philately with notions of geometry.

The basic aim of any education system is the development of overall personality of a child but major focus of school education remains on the intellectual development of students. Mathematics is a compulsory subject in the school curriculum and is very effective in cognitive development, but, it does so if taught and assessed properly. SSC exams are very important for students as they are gauged on the basis of their results in these exams. Due to the importance of these exams, the major focus of teaching/learning process in the schools remains on achieving the highest possible grades in the exams. It is therefore, very important to have a deep investigation of the exam papers in order to know weather the items of these papers are measuring essential mathematical skills or not. To achieve the purpose, this study has scrutinized the papers of SSC (Grade-10) for the years 2014/2015, set by Board of Secondary Education Karachi. Items used in these papers were examined and categorized according to the levels of Mathematical Assessment Task Hierarchy (MATH) taxonomy. These items were then compared with the items of GCE (O-Level) mathematics papers, serving as benchmark papers in this study, to highlight the shortcomings. The results of the study revealed that the items of SSC papers are highly biased towards A1 (Factual Knowledge) and A2 (Routine Procedures) categories of the taxonomy. The study concluded that these items assess knowledge of facts and algorithms only and do not measure essential mathematical skills (involvement of higher levels of thinking processes) of students. As, the papers of board exams highly affect teaching/learning process, it is recommended to improve the items of papers so that essential mathematical skills can be measured. The study recommends focusing on application and problem solving skills rather than the capacity of memorization because with this practice thinking habits can not be inculcated among students which are necessary to compete with other nations in this era of globalization.

The pandemic situation at the beginning of March 2020 forced teachers to develop alternative teaching methods, and most important to find the best ways to keep teaching for every student no matter the situation, as for example, the lack of computer knowledge or hardware/software support. Teachers worldwide struggled to support, encourage, find the best ways not only to help students to keep learning but support them emotionally. At the end of the academic year, teachers made efforts to develop fair, appropriate evaluation procedures adapted to distance education. This paper summarizes the Distance Teaching-Learning-Evaluation (DTLE) evolution in Russia and Romania and some methods developed from March to December 2020 to support the educational activity. Some benefits, challenges and difficulties are identified during the same period of time in different DTLE scenarios, from the point of view of teachers and students, as well. Examples of new adapted methods, dedicated to the DTLE scenarios are al-so addressed in this work.

Mathematics has always presented a challenge, both for teachers and for pupils, all around the world. Teachers of mathematics of all time periods are interested in having their pupils master the mathematical skills and love math. They deliberate on ways of teaching-learning, because of the tremendous gaps in their pupils’ cognitive abilities and their non-uniform abilities to pay attention and to concentrate. It appears that the main solution in the frontal mathematics lessons is offered to the average pupils, but the main goal is to provide a solution for the entire classroom population. Over the years I have searched for different ways beyond frontal and individualized teaching, so that I could provide a solution for populations with different needs in the mathematics lessons. My search for alternative ways derived also from the need to promote the achievements and to boost the motivation, interest, curiosity, and enjoyment in the learning of mathematics. Contemporary research indicates that there is practical innovative learning which is active and involving; it is called project-based learning (PBL). PBL provides a solution for the improvement of the performances in mathematics, for the motivation of the pupils, and for the inspiration of interest and curiosity in and enjoyment from this field of knowledge. From my experience as a teacher in the past and from the reports of my students in the Gordon Academic College for Education in the PBL course, in such teaching a solution is provided for the different populations in the class. The pupils are engaged in learning in practical and realistic projects that are relevant to their lives. They are more active and autonomous, work cooperatively, and develop patterns of behaviour of independence in learning, self-orientation, and self-regulation. These skills and patterns of behaviour are important to their lives as adults and cultivate the six functions of the learner that are derived from the curriculum in Israel: sensory-motor, self-direction in learning and in its management, intrapersonal and interpersonal, cognitive and meta-cognitive.

ABSTRACT. While it is legitimate that each language-culture as a system has its defender who are careful to preserve it by gaining more space compared to other systems, the class of French as a foreign language, in the Algerian context, presents itself as one of the meeting places of languages and cultures, exchanges but also tensions, wanted by politicians as a place of defense and preservation. Knowing that the Algerian educational institution is concerned with the formation of personality, which is the first component of the overall profile, learners in the first name in charge first of all of the identity values deployed through the notion of Algerianism; Thus preserving the culture of the learners is preserving the algerianity of the latter. However, what and how can it contribute to the preservation of national identity interests through the teaching of a foreign language, the FLE? The results of the analysis of the French textbook of the third ASE showed that the educational institution proposes a teaching-learning of the FLE reduced of its cultural substance whereas the didacticians insist that one can not teach- Learn a language without her culture. Keywords : educational institution, FLE, gap, representation, textbook
