Diseases of periodontal tissues occupy one of the leading positions among modern dental problems, namely the multifactorial nature of these diseases. In modern dental science, the issue of the development of periodontal pathology against the background of somatic pathology and risk factors remains relevant. Pathology of periodontal tissues in 68–90 % of cases is accompanied by chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. Today, there is no doubt that Helicobacter pylori infection can be present in the biotopes of the oral cavity and can affect the course of periodontal pathology. As you know, smoking is one of the important risk factors for the development of inflammatory-dystrophic diseases of periodontal tissues, which can aggravate the course of the latter. The purpose of the work is to determine the prevalence of oral Helicobacter pylori infection in tobacco-dependent patients with chronic generalized periodontitis on the background of chronic hyperacid gastritis during treatment. Patients who received the proposed therapeutic and prophylactic complex (ultraphonophoresis procedures with the created gel «Apisan», and probiotic drug BioGaia ProDentis and angioprotective drug of natural origin — Detralex) showed a gradual decrease in the level of total urease activity and, as a consequence, a decrease the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori infection in the oral cavity according to the results of a urease rapid test with material from the oral cavity, both in the presence of a risk factor — smoking, and in its absence. The use of the proposed therapeutic and prophylactic complex proved to be effective in reducing the prevalence of oral Helicobacter pylori infection in smoking patients and patients who do not smoke, with chronic generalized periodontitis against the background of chronic hyperacidal gastritis associated with Helicobacter pylori.

The number of amalgam-covered surfaces and the occlusal area of the fillings, the concentrations of total mercury in plasma, erythrocytes and urine, the urinary excretion rate, and the absorbed daily doses estimated by two separate methods from intra-oral Hg emission were determined in 29 volunteers with a low amalgam load. The transfer ofHg from the fillings via the oral cavity and blood to urinary excretion was evaluated by multiple correla tions between these variables. In addition, the combina tion of variables most representative of the entire compartmental transfer of amalgam Hg was determined. Urinary excretion (1), Hg concentration in plasma (2) and absorbed dose (3) were most closely correlated to each other, followed by correlations with the variables of the fillings (4). Correlation coefficients were 0.75 for variables 1 vs 2 and 2 vs 3, and 0.49 for variables 3 vs 4. It was concluded that variables 1-3 best reflected the transfer of mercury from amalgam fillings throughout the organism and that they were relatively insensitive to dietary mercury. The determination of total mercury in plasma and of its urinary excretion rate appears, under practical aspects, most suitable for the investigation of Hg uptake from amalgam.

This review study presents literature review and discusses the clinical significance of Adenomatoid Hyperplasia, a commonly misdiagnosed lesion. This rare entity has been seldom presented and is not well enough described in the literature. Only 15 reports with 95 cases could be attained during the online literature search using the keywords: Adenomatoid, Tumor, Hyperplasia, Minor salivary Glands. Data revealed a tendency towards the male gender. Age distribution of patients did not reveal a tendency towards a specific age group but presented a peak incidence in the 4th and 5th decades. Location data revealed a tendency towards the palate, especially the hard palate. Most of the presented cases were asymptomatic and the most common initial diagnosis made was salivary gland tumor. It was concluded that, adenomatoid hyperplasia of the oral cavity may resemble a wide range of pathologies and in order to differentiate and to achieve a correct diagnosis, histological evaluation is fundamental.

Mucoceles are one of the most common benign mucosal growth in the oral cavity. They may be under-recognized in children. Mucoceles infrequently present in groups. We present an unusual case of eruptive superficial mucoceles in a 6-day old male that served as a diagnostic dilemma.

The concentration of plasmalogen bacterial and endotoxin levels in the saliva of patients with different severity of periodontal disease, injury prosthetic bed and with various degrees of the oral cavity microbiocenosis violations was studied. Determination of the presence of the pathological process was carried out clinically, according to the condition of periodontal tissues. The degree of microbiological disorders was assessed by the quantitative ratio of the types of microorganisms isolated from the smear taken from the gingival groove. It was found that the concentration of plasmalogen for normal microbiocenosis is not less than 0.7 µg/g. For the intermediate type of microbiocenosis, the concentration of 1.82 µg/g was determined; for dysbiosis - 5.64 µg/g, and for the expressed violation of the microbial composition accompanied by inflammatory processes - 6.54 µg/g. An increase in the concentration of bacterial endotoxin (be) more than 6.25 nanomole/g indicates the pronounced inflammatory process, regardless of the determined intensity of contamination of opportunistic gram-negative microflora.

Clinical examination of 102 patients including, besides objective neurological examination, determination of functional state of vegetative nervous system, electroencephalography, reoencephalography, stomatologic examination, stomatoscopy, measurement of microcurrent in oral cavity, was carried out. Biochemical investigation involved determination of the total content of testosteron, biologically active free forms of it, concentration of B-endorphine, series E prostaglandines. In 81,3% of patients in vegetative security sympatho-tonic, in 7,8% vagotonic and in 10,7% mixed responses were dominant. Change in electroencephalograms and reoencephalograms of the examined patients differed in their dependence on vegetative state. Findings of stomatological examination and stomatoscopy allowed to estimate objectively local changes in oral cavity. The obtained results evidently show the dependence of suprasegmental structures of brain, and of the pituitary bodyadrenal gland system as well.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the most common malignancy affecting the oral cavity. OSCC presents diverse clinical features including small ulcerative lesion to a large growth. The treatment modality of OSCC depends upon the severity, progress and spread of the disease. The purpose of this case report is to emphasize the etiological factors, clinical features as well as the management protocols of OSCC.

Relevance. One of the main causes of periodontitis is oral dysbiosis, in which changes in the quantitative and qualitative composition of the microflora occur, the systems of interaction between the microorganism and the microbiota are disturbed, and immunity is reduced. Is to study the comparative anti-disbiotic efcacy of various immunobiological preparations in patients with chronic apical periodontitis against the background of oral dysbiosis.Materials and methods. The study included 66 patients who were divided into 2 groups: comparisons (n = 34) and main (n = 32). Each group was divided into three subgroups depending on the degree of dysbiosis of the oral cavity according to the method of A.P. Levitsky (2007): determination of the ratio of the relative activities of urease and saliva lysozyme. All patients underwent traditional endodontic treatment and oral hygiene with parallel correction of oral microbiocenosis through the use of a complex of immunomodulatory drugs to patients of the main group.Results. In chronic apical periodontitis, urease activity was signifcantly increased, and in those examined with grade II-III dysbiosis almost 2 times compared with patients with grade I severity of clinical manifestations. The proposed treatment reduced the activity of urease in patients in all three subgroups of both groups (main and comparison). The results indicate a signifcant decrease in the activity of lysozyme in all patients more than 2 times. Conducted traditional treatment (comparison group) increased activity, but did not lead to a recovery in the rate of healthy individuals. The use of immunomodulatory drugs allowed to increase the level of lysozyme to the indicators of the control group.Conclusions. The inclusion of immunobiological preparations in the complex therapy of chronic apical periodontitis against the background of oral dysbiosis eliminates the dysbiotic phenomena in the oral cavity and has a therapeutic effect on destructive processes in the periapical tissues that are difcult to treat and often recur.
