Abstract Background Coronary heart disease (CHD) has become one of the biggest health problems in the world. Stable angina is a common clinical type of CHD with poor prognosis and high mortality. Although there are various interventions for stable angina, none of them can significantly reduce mortality. Both basic and clinical research have shown that Suxiao Jiuxin Pill (SJP) can relieve the symptoms of angina pectoris and improve the clinical efficacy, but there is a lack of high-quality clinical research to provide research-based evidence. We design a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial to evaluate the efficacy of SJP for stable angina. Methods/design This is a prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, and multicenter trial. The trial will enroll 324 participants with chronic stable angina (Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis syndrome). All participants will have received the conventional therapy of chronic stable angina. Participants will be randomized into two groups, conventional therapy plus SJP group and conventional therapy plus placebo group. Eligible participants will receive either SJP or placebo (five pills administered orally, three times daily) in addition to conventional treatment for 24 weeks. The primary outcomes are the symptom improvement rate of angina from baseline to 4 weeks after inclusion and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE). The secondary outcomes are angina classification (CCS), improvement of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndromes, Seattle Angina Scale score, the dosage of emergency drugs and the stopping rate, and electrocardiogram (EKG) efficacy. Adverse events will be monitored throughout the trial. Discussion Integrated traditional Chinese and Western Medicine is commonly used for angina in China. This study will evaluate the clinical effectiveness and safety of SJP for angina. The results of the trial will provide high-level clinical research-based evidence for the application of SJP instable angina. Trial registration This study protocol was registered on 14 March 2019. The registration number is ChiCTR1900021876 on the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry.

Albino Grifola frondosa (Dicks.) Gray “maitake” mushrooms (described as G. albicans Imazeki and then placed in synonymy with G. frondosa) are particularly rare, and the few pertinent records are not treated in scientific publications. A field investigation carried out in Sicily (Italy) led to the collection of an unusual white Grifola specimen at the base of a living tree of Quercus pubescens Willd. s.l. The outcome of sequencing the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of nuclear ribosomal DNA (nrDNA) indicated that it belongs to G. frondosa and provided an insight to the phylogenetic relationships within the genus. The results of nutritional composition analysis showed that the albino basidioma possesses relatively high contents of Ca, Fe, K, and Cu and is rather low in Na when compared with literature data on edible mushrooms. Vitamin (B1, B2, B3, B5, B9, and D2) contents ranged from 0.15 to 3.89 mg per 100 g of mushroom dry weight. The cold-water extract of this specimen was effective at inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis ATCC 12228 and Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 15442 at the maximum screening concentration of 50% v/v. In addition, the extract slowed down the ability of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 43300 to form biofilms. According to data hereby reported, the albino G. frondosa is a culinary-medicinal mushroom with a promising exploitation potential.

Pineapple guava (Acca sellowiana [O. Berg] Burret) is a fruit with export and production potential in Colombia. However, there are few reports about its composition concerning physiological behavior throughout the different ripening phases. Intending to confront this situation, a study was proposed in order to evaluate the physicochemical properties and the nutritional composition of pineapple guava fruits in three different phases of ripening, determined by the weeks elapsed after anthesis, considering it undeveloped for week 17 (W17), ripe for week 20 (W20) and overripe from week 21 (W21). Pineapple guava fruits were preliminarily characterized, they underwent a bromatological analysis and their content of vitamin A and C content was established. The results showed a significant content of crude fiber and total carbohydrates in the three evaluated phases. There was also a decrease in the neutral detergent fiber of 38% between W17 and W21. The highest level of vitamin C was reported in W17 (67.82 mg ascorbic acid/g dry sample), as well as for vitamin A (12.65 mg β-carotene/g dry sample). In a physical-chemical characterization, the existence of a particular physiological behavior is possible because of the development in size and mass of the fruit after physiological ripening. Additionally, the calcium and reducing carbohydrate content can be associated with the pulp browning phenomenon. Clearly, pineapple guava is a promising fruit thanks to its nutritional properties, according to the current consumption tendencies.

Iron deficiency is the most common form of malnutrition in the world, affecting more than 2 billion people globally. Food labeling is an important tool that provides information on the nutritional composition data to consumers. However, the information on bio accessibility values is limited; therefore, the aim of the present study is to promote the nutritional labeling by the inclusion of bio accessibility values of micronutrients of importance along with nutritional composition data. Commercial supplements commonly used for disease specific conditions were selected & their iron bio accessibility was determined by equilibrium dialysis involving an in vitro simulated digestion procedure. The formulations were also subjected to nutritional composition analysis & functional properties by standard AOAC methods. The total iron content of the supplements ranged between 8.66±0.5mg/100g to 21.72±1.44 mg/100g whereas the bio accessibility of micronutrient iron ranged between 0.05±0.01 mg/100g to 0.32±0.20mg/100g. The % iron bio accessibility was also determined & ranged between 0.23-2.52%. Thus inclusion of bio accessibility values of vital micronutrients along with usual nutritional composition data employs as an effective tool to combat various micronutrient deficiencies. Therefore, application of supplements with higher bioavailability may result in usage of lower doses of iron with fewer side effects, thus improving treatment efficacy. This novel information has the potential application in nutritional labeling to improve the bioavailability of trace minerals and hence contributes to the human health benefit.

The steady rise of obesity in children and adolescents emphasizes the need for new, integrated approaches to its diagnosis and therapy. When diagnosing obesity and choosing methods for its correction, it is fundamentally important to use reliable methods of estimating the amount of adipose tissue. Using the body mass index is not always sufficient, since it does not provide complete information on quantitative content in the body weight of the patient’s body. For these purposes in clinical medicine use of bioimpedance analysis to assess the indicators, which characterize the basal metabolism, active cell mass, fat and basirova mass and total water content in the body. However, the holding of bioimpedance body composition analysis is currently limited mainly to dietetics and sports medicine, and adult patients. Quite interesting is the use of the bioimpedance method in the pediatric age group for accurate evaluation of body composition of children of various ages and body weight that will allow for dynamic control of all types of metabolism to evaluate the effectiveness of the observation and treatment of patients with overweight and obesity.

Angina pectoris (AP) with coronary heart disease (CHD) is one of the common cardiovascular diseases in clinical practice, which can be classified as “chest paralysis” in Chinese medicine according to its symptoms, and it is described in many ancient documents. Ancient Chinese medicine believes that the main pathogenesis of the disease is poor blood flow leading to paralysis of the heart and veins, so it is often treated by activating blood and removing blood stasis. In this study, 120 patients with AP of CHD of Qi stagnation and blood stasis type were randomly divided into the observation (n = 60) and the control group (n = 60). In the control group, basic care, conventional treatment, and unselected copper acupuncture scraping were used, while in the observation group, copper acupuncture scraping was performed at the right time of the heart meridian (11 : 00–13 : 00) on the basis of the control group, and all patients received the treatment for a total duration of 4 weeks. We collected data on the traditional Chinese medical (TCM) syndrome score, frequency and duration of angina attacks, nitroglycerin dosage, inflammatory factor levels, and hematological indices pretreatment and posttreatment in both groups. Patients’ adverse effects during treatment were recorded, and the clinical efficacy and ECG efficacy in both groups were evaluated after 4 weeks. We used SPSS.20 statistical software to statistically analyze the above data, and the results showed that the clinical efficacy and ECG efficacy of the observation group were significantly higher than the control group posttreatment. After treatment, the TCM symptom score, angina attack frequency, attack duration and nitroglycerin dosage, serum interleukin-8 (IL-8), hypersensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) levels, whole blood viscosity (WBV), plasma viscosity (PV), fibrinogen (FIB), and hematocrit (Hct) were significantly lower in both groups compared with those posttreatment. And the observation group showed a greater decrease when compared with the control group. The results also showed that the overall incidence of adverse reactions was lower in both groups during the treatment period. The above results indicate that while ensuring high safety, the copper stone based on theory of midnight-noon ebb-flow can more effectively improve the symptoms and inflammatory response of the body and reduce the viscosity of the blood in AP with CHD of Qi stagnation and blood stasis, and it has better therapeutic effects.

Abstract To systematically evaluate the correlation between the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndromes of lung cancer and the imaging manifestations of CT. Computer search of CNKI, Cochrane Library, PubMed, Springer, CBM, VIP, Wanfang database, Baidu library and other major databases. Collect the relevant literature on the TCM syndromes of lung cancer and CT imaging manifestation since the database was built until September 1, 2021. Two researchers collected literature and evaluated the quality of the literature, conducted data mining on the literature, and used the computer Revman 5.3 software to conduct a Meta-analysis of the included literature. The results showed that the phlegm dampness type lobular sign was higher than the burr sign, and there was no significant difference between vacuole sign and cavity sign; In Qi-Yin deficiency type, lobular sign was higher than burr sign, vacuole sign was higher than cavity sign; In Qi stagnation blood stasis type, lobular sign is higher than burr sign. The CT lobular sign of lung cancer are mainly phlegm dampness type, Qi-Yin deficiency type and Qi stagnation blood stasis type. Vacuole sign is mainly Qi-Yin deficiency type. Burr sign and cavity sign are less in the above three types. In this study, the combination of computer and meta-analysis technology has promoted the development of lung cancer micro-differentiation theory and assisted in improving the treatment level of lung cancer clinical syndrome differentiation.

Introduction. Overweight and obesity are leading risk factors for metabolic syndrome (MS). From 20 to 35% of Russian people have this condition, depending on their age. MS is a precursor of cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, diabetic nephropathy, and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. Specialized foods (SFs) with hypocholesteremic effects are an important component of the diet therapy for MS patients. Creating local SFs to optimize the nutritional status of MS patients and prevent related diseases is a highly promising area of research. The aim of our study was to develop the formulation and technology of SFs and evaluate their effectiveness in MS treatment. Study objects and methods. The objects of the study were food ingredients and SFs. Safety indicators and micronutrient contents were determined by standard methods, whereas nutritional and energy values and amino acid contents were determined by calculation. Results and discussion. Based on medical requirements, we selected functional ingredients and developed a formulation and technology of SFs with an optimized protein, fat, and carbohydrate composition. The formulation included essential micronutrients and biologically active substances with a desirable physiological effect. Clinical trials involved 15 MS patients aged from 27 to 59. For two weeks, they had a low-calorie standard diet with one serving of SFs in the form of a drink instead of a second breakfast. The patients showed a significant improvement in anthropometric indicators. Blood serum tests revealed decreased contents of total cholesterol (by 16.9%), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (by 15.3%), and triglycerides (by 27.9%). Conclusion. We developed technical specifications and produced a pilot batch of SFs. The trials showed an improvement of lipid metabolism in the MS patients who were taking SFs as part of their diet therapy.
