Relative contact width evaluation of end hemispherical cavities rollers as an indication of Hertzian contact pressure

In a recent investigation, the end hemispherical cavities (EHC) rollers exhibited better strength against fracture than hollow rollers. Furthermore, EHC rollers looked promising from a higher fatigue life aspect than conventional solid rollers in a simulation study. Therefore, it necessitated further exploration of the EHC roller concept and to this end, in the present investigation, the contact widths of EHC rollers were relatively evaluated to judge its contact stresses' behavior with respect to the solid roller because the contact stresses are responsible for the fatigue life of rolling bearings. In the experiments, the contact footprints were obtained by forcing specimens of rollers against chemically etched surfaces and were examined by a microscope for measurement of contact widths. The experimental trials were performed with individual roller-on-plate tests and also with full-bearing samples. The etch correction factor was used to correct anomalies of real and observed contact widths due to etching film thickness. The parabolic relationships were established for roller variants which yielded constants signifying their relative ranks. The contact semi-widths, thus derived from corrected experimental results of individual roller-on-plate tests, demonstrated good agreement (<5%) with those derived from simulation results. The results of full-bearing sample tests for roller variants also ranked same as individual roller-on-plate tests. The encouraging results of contact semi-width assuredly favor the prospects of relatively higher fatigue life in case of EHC rollers.

REFLEKSI NILAI BUDAYA DALAM UNGKAPAN TRADISIONAL MASYARAKAT LUBUKLINGGAU SUMATERA SELATAN

This research investigates cultural values reflection existing within Lubuklinggau community in South Sumatera Province through several of traditional expressions. They are: 1) Expression of payu ponga nilek ngelup. Jengan melawan wang tue nilek meresak; (2) Expression of awak tue betunak dǝak hiyang melam kire nak ngelong; (3) Expression of lah ngidar lah baputar lom dǝpat jelan hatuju; (4) Expression of makan ati nenggung sedingan rube abis resan urung; (5) Expression of lambat bekat gǝcang dǝpat. By using literary sociological approach and reinforced by hermeneutic analysis, it was concluded the five expressions reflect the cultural values of Lubuklinggau community, especially related to several life aspect, namely: (1) The need for a perennial commitment to be consistent and obedient to parents; (2) The importance of wife presence as a life partner and the significance of maintaining the integrity of family; (3) The need for knowledge in understanding the dynamics of dialogue that arises within community; (4) The need to compromise in maintaining friendship and healthy relationship amidst citizens; and (5) The importance of accurateness as well as swiftness in every field of engaged business.Keywords: cultural values reflections, traditional expressions, Lubuklinggau

The Impact of Substance Misuse Disorder on Psychosocial Aspects of Patients’ Lives

Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the psychosocial impact of substance use/abuse on participants psychosocial life.Methodology: The study was employed descriptive explanatory design with purposive sampling was used, and 181 male participants were recruited at the Al-Amal Hospital in Jeddah. The psychosocial life aspect of patient life was assessed by using a validated scale Results: Data were analyzed by the SPSS-23. The most commonly used substances were amphetamines, alcohol and marijuana. The greatest effect of substance use was on self-esteem, followed by anxiety, depression, hostility and risk taking. Interestingly, group one (alcohol) and group three (amphetamine) showed the highest psychosocial influence. Conclusions: Substance use/abuse significantly affected psychosocial aspects, especially self-esteem and depression.

Cartographic modelling of the urban quality of life – aspect of green areas in the City of Lublin (Poland)

<p>Prace z zakresu rozmieszczenia i ewaluacji zieleni w mieście w kontekście potrzeb mieszkańców mają duże znaczenie w związku z postępującym rozwojem przestrzennym miast i presją na wykorzystanie każdego wolnego kawałka gruntu. Szerzej możemy mówić tu o jakości życia w mieście, biorąc pod uwagę komponent zieleni. Warto również zwrócić uwagę, że analiza przestrzenna jakości życia w mieści jest trudnym i złożonym zagadnieniem, dlatego też rzadko jest przeprowadzana w obrębie miast. Typowe jest natomiast analizowanie jakości życia w odniesieniu do miasta jako całości, co pozwala na analizę porównawczą pomiędzy miastami. Nie daje to jednak możliwości analizy strukturalnej wewnątrz miast.</p><p>Celem pracy było zaproponowanie możliwości wykorzystania zdjęć satelitarnych z satelity Ikonos 2 oraz technik związanych z GIS dla potrzeb analizy terenów zielonych ośrodków miejskich oraz modelowania jakości życia w mieście. W artykule przedstawiono sposób integracji danych pochodzących z rejestracji teledetekcyjnej, dotyczących roślinności, oraz danych dotyczących rozmieszczenia ludności w mieście. Modelowanie kartografi czne doprowadziło do określenia rozmieszczenia przestrzennego wskaźnika jakości życia w mieście w aspekcie zieleni. W związku z tym wyniki mogą być przydatnym narzędziem w monitorowaniu i planowaniu przestrzennym.</p><p>Na podstawie zobrazowania satelitarnego Ikonos 2 wygenerowano rozkład przestrzenny znormalizowanego wskaźnika zieleni (NDVI). Było to podstawą wydzielenia dwóch klas zieleni: zieleni wysokiej (zbiorowisk drzewiastych i krzewiastych) oraz zieleni niskiej (głównie roślinność trawiasta). Aby określić wskaźnik terenów z zielenią przypadających na mieszkańców, niezbędne było wykorzystanie informacji o rozmieszczeniu ludności, którą to opracowano w formie mapy kropkowej. Określenie cząstkowego wskaźnika jakości życia przeprowadzono w polach podstawowych, a następnie zwizualizowano, używając metody izoliniowej. Proponowana metodyka dała w rezultacie przestrzenny obraz zjawiska, który stał się podstawą analizy rozmieszczenia terenów z roślinnością w odniesieniu do miejsca zamieszkania ludności Lublina.</p>

Data were analyzed using Task Analysis Progress (ATP) with theadoption of the categories in the Encoding level of development. IMPLEMENTATION OF TAWHID THROUGH MORAL EDUCATION TO BUILD SANTRI’S CHARACTER IN AL ISLAM ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL LAMONGAN

This study aimed to understand how tawhid education in Al-Islam Islamic boarding school Tenggulun, and how tawhid implement in moral education to build santri character and how far tawhid and moral relevance in character building and its effect to santri. This study was qualitative, the primary data from this study obtain from literature study, utterances, action, and documentation from institution, directure, head master, teacher staff and santri in Islamic boarding school. The implementation of this study indicated that tawhid education through moral education give strong effect on character building of santri. The effects are tawhid become main basis of education in building character of santri to be moslem who knows their God’s purpose and apply it in every life aspect and ready to preach and fight for Islam; has storng character of tawhid; has understanding of aqidah ahlu sunnah wal jama’ah; has strong spirit to preach; has obvious aqidah wala’ and baro’; has akhlaqul karimah; and apply it to society. Culture is a life aspect covering all behaviors, beliefs, ways to behave and results of human activities typical of society or certain community. The culture includes traditional house, traditional attire, traditional song and traditional ceremony. North Sumatra is a province that has varied culture in many fields. Therefore, the researcher interviews many informants, especially historians or traditional figures in North Sumatra to study its culture. With the increasingly rapid development of technology, the researcher initiates the creation of an application to introduce the culture of North Sumatra using android Development Tools. It is expected that this application can be an interactive and interesting learning medium for society and tourists who want to learn the culture of North Sumatra.
