<p>In these days, electric vehicles are enthusiastically researched as a countermeasure to air pollution, although these do not have practicality compared to gasoline-powered vehicles. The aim of this study is to transport energy wirelessly and efficiently to an electric vehicle. To accomplish this, we focused on frequency of an alternating current (AC) power supply, and suggested a method which determined the value of it constantly. In particular, a wireless power transfer circuit and a lithium-ion battery in an electric vehicle were expressed with an equivalent circuit, and efficiency of energy transfer was calculated. Furthermore, the optimal frequency which maximizes efficiency was found, and the behavior of voltage was demonstrated on a secondary circuit. Finally, we could obtain the larger electromotive force at the secondary inductor than an input voltage.</p>

Abstract Recognizing irregular text in real industrial scenes is a challenging task due to the background clutter, low resolutions or distortions. In this work, an attention-based text detection and recognition method for terminals of current transformer’s secondary circuit is proposed. It consists of three major components: pre-processing, text detection and text recognition. In text recognition module, a novel spatial temporal embedding is designed to better utilize the positional information. During training, the proposed framework only requires sequence-level annotations, instead of extra fine-grained character-level boxes or segmentation masks as in previous work. Despite its simplicity, the proposed method achieves good performance on the dataset collected in actual working scene.

Abstract The elements of the theory of the Tesla transformer are stated, the exact solution of the equations of the dynamics of currents and voltages in the transformer circuits through the generalized parameters of the circuits (Q-factors of the primary and secondary circuits, the coupling coefficient of the circuits and mismatching factor of the natural resonance frequencies of the circuits) is given, under the assumption of their constancy. The optimal transfer characteristics of the processes of charging the capacitive storage of the secondary circuit of the transformer on the first and second half-waves are given, demonstrating the capabilities of the Tesla transformer.

Current measurements from electromagnetic current transformers are essential for the construction of secondary circuit systems, including for protection systems. Magnetic core of these transformers are at risk of saturation, as a result of which maloperation of protection algorithms can possibly occur. The paper considers methods for recovering a current signal in the saturation mode of current transformers. The advantages and disadvantages of methods for detecting the occurrence of current transformers core saturation are described. A comparative analysis of mathematical methods for recovering a current signal is given, their approbation was carried out, and the most promising of them was revealed. The stability and sensitivity of recovery methods were tested by adding white noise to the measured signal and taking into account the initial flux density (remanent magnetization) in the current transformers core. Their comparison is given on the basis of angular, magnitude, and total errors at a given simulation interval.

A compact and highly efficient unidirectional DC–DC converter is required as a battery charger for electrical vehicles, which will rapidly become widespread in the near future. The single active bridge (SAB) converter is proposed as a simple and high-frequency isolated unidirectional converter, which is comprised of an active H-bridge converter in the primary side, an isolated high frequency transformer, and a rectifying secondary diode bridge output circuit. This paper presents a novel, unidirectional, high-frequency isolated DC–DC converter called a Secondary Resonant Single Active Bridge (SR–SAB) DC–DC converter. The circuit topology of the SR–SAB converter is a resonant capacitor connected to each diode in parallel in order to construct the series resonant circuit in the secondary circuit. As a result, the SR–SAB converter achieves a higher total power factor at the high frequency transformer and a unity voltage conversion ratio under the unity transformer turns ratio. Small and nonsignificant overshoot values of current and voltage waveforms are observed. Soft-switching commutations of the primary H-bridge circuit and the soft recovery of secondary diode bridge are achieved. The operating philosophy and design method of the proposed converter are presented. Output power control using transformer frequency variation is proposed. The effectiveness of the SR–SAB converter was verified by experiments using a 1 kW, 48 VDC, and 20 kHz laboratory prototype.

Abstract Based on feedback from existing reactors and current projects, the European Sodium Fast Reactor Safety Measures Assessment and Research Tools (ESFR SMART) project proposes an optimization of the secondary circuit with the main aim of improving safety. Besides, the optimization also leads to a simplification of the circuits and therefore to a reduction of the cost of the reactor. For the implementation of the proposed new design option, some points require further R&D to validate their feasibility.

The objective of the present study is the detailed investigation and optimization of a transcritical organic Rankine cycle operating with CO2. The novelty of the present system is that the CO2 is warmed up inside a solar parabolic trough collector and there is not a secondary circuit between the solar collector and the CO2. Therefore, the examined configuration presents increased performance due to the higher operating temperatures of the working fluid in the turbine inlet. The system is studied parametrically and it is optimized by investigating different pressure and temperature level in the turbine inlet. The simulation is performed with a validated mathematical model that has been developed in Engineering Equation Solver software. According to the results, the optimum turbine inlet temperature is ranged from 713 up to 847 K, while the higher pressure in the turbine inlet enhances electricity production. In the default scenario (turbine inlet at 800 K and turbine pressure at 200 bar), the system efficiency is found 24.27% with solar irradiation at 800 W/m2. A dynamic investigation of the system for Athens (Greece) climate proved that the yearly efficiency of the unit is 19.80%, the simple payback period of the investment is 7.88 years, and the yearly CO2 emissions avoidance is 48.7 tones.
