Breast milk is considered the best form of nutrition for neonates and infants. The properties of breast milk facilitate the transition of life from in utero to ex utero. Breast milk provides a variety of bioactive substances for the developing baby during the early period of brain, immune and gut development. Katuk leaves (Sauropus androgni) are found very abundantly in Indonesia. People use S. androgyny as a traditional herbal medicine and are believed to have it to increase breast milk production. There are many publications that show the effect of lactagogum (an agent to increase milk production) of this plant. In several studies conducted there is evidence that the role of phytosterols and papaverine are two components that can increase the hormones prolactin and oxytocin. Scientific sources were obtained from Google Scholar and Pubmed in the form of textbooks and scientific journals totaling 24 units. Giving the extract resulted in a smoother circulation of the oxytocin hormone. The purpose of this literature review is to discuss the effect of S. androgynus which is believed to have a beneficial effect on breast milk production in and can be an agent of breast milk production in future research subjects.

Breastfeeding is an obligation that must be given to babies during their growth period. Consistent breast milk production and confidence to breastfeed are very necessary for the success of exclusive breastfeeding. Hypnopressure is one method that can increaseand maintain breastmilk production and breastfeeding confidence. The purpose of this project is to analyze the effect of hypnopressure on breast milk production and breastfeeding confidence. This study uses Quasy Eksperimental with Pretest dan Posttest Controlled Group Design. There were 28 postpartum mothers who were divided into two groups and taken with simple random sampling. Production of breast milk was measured by electric breast pump and breastfeeding sel efficacy was measured Breastfeeding Self Efficacy Scale (BSES). Data were analyzed using paired and unpaired t-test. Primary outcomes of this study will be effect of the intervention on breastmilk production and breastfeeding confidence. We conclude that hypnopressure could improve breastmilk production (p=0.00) and breasfeeding confidence (p=0.00) and breastfeeding confidence (p=0.00). Result of this greater understanding about increase breast milk production and confidence which influence the success of breastfeeding by hypnopressure then be useful targets for  midwife intervention in post partum.

Kata Kunci : kecukupan ASI; buah pepaya muda; ibu post partum ABSTRACTBreast milk contains high nutrition which is very beneficial for the health babies, even WHO recommends babies to get exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months. The achievement of exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia has not reached the expected number. According to the Indonesian Ministry of Health (2018) the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding is only 36% which will have a negative impact on the nutritional health status and the level of intelligence of children. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of papaya fruit on breast milk production in post partum women. This study used a quasy experiment with two groups with pretest and posttest design. A sample of 30 postpartum women who gave birth normally. Data analysis had been done by paired T-Test and Independent T-Test. The average adequacy rate of postpartum women in the experimental group before being given raw papaya fruit was 5.93 and after 14.60. The mean postpartum breastfeeding adequacy rate in the control group before was 6.60 and after 7.86. Bivariate analysis using Independent t-test obtained p value = 0.00. There is a significant difference in the adequacy of breast milk in the experimental group and the control group. Papaya fruit is proven to stimulate breast milk production. Therefore, it is hoped that midwives can provide counseling about the benefits of young papaya fruit to increase milk production so that mothers provide exclusive breastfeeding Key words : adequacy breat milk, young papaya fruit, postpartum women

One of the leading causes of malnutrition, which contributes to morbidity and mortality in children, is lack of dietary diversity. Despite remarkable improvement in exclusive breastfeeding in Kenya, there are still poor dietary diversity practices among children aged 6-24 months. Limited studies have applied the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) to examine the factors that influence dietary diversity practices in informal settlements in Kenya. The objective of this qualitative study was to explore behavioral, normative, control beliefs, intention, and dietary diversity practices, based on the TPB. The study sites were Kibera in Nairobi, Manyatta A in Kisumu, and Kaptembwo in Nakuru. Participants were 64 mothers of children aged 6-24 months selected using purposive sampling. Nine focus groups, each comprising of 5-10 mothers were conducted and the data analyzed using thematic analysis. Using a focus group guide, based on the TPB, mothers described salient beliefs regarding their attitude, subjective norms and perceived control of dietary diversity. Analysis of the data showed that some mothers had intended to introduce solid foods at six months. However, barriers such as mother not feeding well, baby’s hunger, perceived insufficient breast milk production, and return to work led to earlier introduction of foods. Most mothers indicated their intention to give a variety of foods to their children but were hindered by barriers such as poverty/inadequate money, non-availability of food at home, and inadequate knowledge about complementary feeding. Friends, health professionals, fathers, neighbours and friends were cited as most salient referents that influenced the dietary diversity practices. The most frequently provided starchy foods were chappatis, mandazis, potatoes, rice, weetabix, porridge, and ugali. In conclusion, the results indicate that mothers had positive attitude towards dietary diversity. The ‘significant others’ who mostly influenced dietary diversity practices were health professionals, fathers, and friends. Future interventions need to target mothers' perceived child-feeding responsibilities, influence subjective norms, and increase parents' perceived control over child feeding.

Background: Breast milk is appropriate and useful but the exclusive breastfeeding rate in Thailand was quite low at only 23.1%. Hypogalactia is one of the important barriers of breastfeeding. Studies in Asia and the west have shown that acupuncture could boost breast milk. However, some articles had controversial result. There has been no study to assess efficiency of acupuncture in early postpartum hypogalactia. Objective: To compare the efficacy of acupuncture and conventional treatment for stimulating breast milk in early postpartum hypogalactia at 48 hours. Materials and Methods: A randomized, prospective, clinical trial was used for the present study. Sixty postpartum hypogalactic women of term gestation in postpartum ward in Charoenkrung Pracharak Hospital between March 1, 2020 and February 28, 2021 were enrolled. They were randomized into acupuncture and control groups. In the study group, mothers received once a day acupuncture at 13 acupoints without electrode for three consecutive days by qualified Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner other than conventional treatment. Breast milk quantity were measured at day 1, day 7, and day 14 after the intervention. Results: Mean age of all participants was 29.72±5.96 year, mostly primigravida, delivered by vaginal route. Mean milk volume in the treatment group were significantly higher than the control group (p<0.05) with day 1 at 19.00±22.25 versus 5.97±6.08 mL, day 7 at 78.10±60.38 versus 40.17±28.82 mL, and day 14 at 128.33±64.86 versus 75.00±57.96 mL. The amount of breast milk in the treatment group were 3-fold, 2-fold, and 1.7-fold times more than the control group at day 1, day 7, and day 14, in respective order (p<0.05). Conclusion: Accurate acupuncture intervention could boost breast milk production in early postpartum hypogalactia at 48 hours.
