We examine the ability of observers to extract summary statistics (such as the mean and the relative-variance) from rapid numerical sequences of two digit numbers presented at a rate of 4/s. In four experiments (total N = 100), we find that the participants show a remarkable ability to extract such summary statistics and that their precision in the estimation of the sequence-mean improves with the sequence-length (subject to individual differences). Using model selection for individual participants we find that, when only the sequence-average is estimated, most participants rely on a holistic process of frequency based estimation with a minority who rely on a (rule-based and capacity limited) mid-range strategy. When both the sequence-average and the relative variance are estimated, about half of the participants rely on these two strategies. Importantly, the holistic strategy appears more efficient in terms of its precision. We discuss implications for the domains of two pathways numerical processing and decision-making.

In the framework of asset management, the effectiveness of an integrated process that manages reliability and maintenance should be adequately and timely evaluated based on a thorough analysis of a series of contributing factors, which should respond entirely to the result of maintenance activities on the performance of assets that make up the production process. According to the above, then arises the motivation for the design and application of tools to determine the effectiveness of such activities in asset management, understanding the latter as a holistic process that involves a diversity of functions and areas within an organization

The purpose of the study is to identify the needs of bachelor students of various areas in the field of fine arts in the skills of mastering computer graphics and using its various types in professional activities. The Federal State Educational Standard (FSES) in the areas of education, general and professional competencies associated with the possession of computer graphics, methods and techniques of work necessary for organizing a holistic process in this discipline are analyzed.

The article is devoted to the study of the problem of the content of educational and pedagogical forecasting in Ukraine in the period 1917 – 1920. The author concludes that the content of educational and pedagogical forecasting in Ukraine in the period 1917-1920 is manifested in the development of its national paradigm, the search for variable systems and models, technologies and methods of training teachers. The problem of educational and pedagogical forecasting within certain limits is a component and objectively existing, independent, defining direction, which allows to study the holistic process of development of preschool, secondary and higher education in Ukraine, its features, color; identify the leading trends, ideas, creative experience of training, which determines the positive transformation of the values of Ukrainian society; to outline ways to update educational and pedagogical forecasting in modern socio-political and economic conditions and to update the accumulated material from the past in the realities of pedagogical theory and practice of today.

Abstract In the stage of prototype practice, the maker mainly works by himself, but it needs to test and adapt to find correct fabrication method when maker didn’t have clearly fabrication description. Therefore, rapid prototyping is very important in the prototype practice of the maker. “Design- Fabrication-Assembly” (DFA)- an integration prototyping process which helps designers in creating kinetic skin by following a holistic process. However, DFA lacks a medium for communication between design, fabrication and assembly status. This paper proposes a solution called co-existing Fabrication System (CoFabs) by combining multiple sensory components and visualization feedbacks. We combine mixed reality (MR) and the concept of digital twin (DT)–a device that uses a virtual interface to control a physical mechanism for fabrication and assembly. By integrating virtual and physical, CoFab allows designers using different methods of observation to prototype more rigorously and interactively correct design decisions in real-time.

The article considers the idea of a new pedagogical thinking, which plays an important role in the future teacher formation. The essence of the concept of new pedagogical thinking is revealed. The problems of the process of formation of new pedagogical thinking in the scientific philosophical, psychological, pedagogical literature are analyzed. A retrospective analysis of the development of the idea of new pedagogical thinking is carried out. It is established that the formation of a new pedagogical thinking of the teacher as a factor in the humanization of the school is determined by a holistic process of the pedagogical community, aimed at understanding new, anthropo-oriented values of education, assignment of these values by teachers and their implementation in their practical pedagogical activities. The essence of the New pedagogical thinking is revealed, which we consider as a process and result of critical analysis by the teacher of the reality of the modern world, educational process and self-analysis of own professional actions in the direction of humanization and humanization of educational space. Examples of tasks for the development of new pedagogical thinking are offered.

Aim of the current research paper is to propose an innovative solution for the problematic of the holistic management of an academic strategy. The systematic bibliographic surveys conducted showed that the combination of BSC method together with a multitude of MCDA techniques constitute the most important tools for this issue. Thus, we propose a holistic process-based methodology for the management of an academic strategy which spans from its design and oversight, to interpretation issues of the academic classification of departments of Universities or between Universities where assembly bodies (Quality Assurance Unit, HAHE) are active. We claim that our methodology is of particular importance and that its use will highlight the operational quality of well organised Universities.
