Architects’ approach towards colour in architectural design evolved radically in the recent 50 years, and ranges from a modernist aversion to a vernacular appreciation. These changes were linked to the development of culture, technology and scientific knowledge in different areas connected to human functioning. The authors have examined evolution in design of tall buildings in the Isle of Dogs in London (UK) since the 1980s. The area experienced major growth spurs in the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries, resulting in the greatest concentration of tall buildings in London today. The Island has been a playground for architects who have developed a range of approaches to the design of towers. The authors observed the evolution of architectural style, analyzed application of colour and made connections between scale, beauty and human behaviour. They concluded that colour in tall buildings’ architecture on the Isle of Dogs is predominantly used to disguise their massing. Colour detail facilitates the domestic feel of a public realm. Therefore, alongside decorative quality, and if considerately applied, colour may positively influence the quality of living and working environments.

Abstract - The development of information technology and significant progress is happening today, where changes need to face increasingly high global competition. Islamic boarding schools are the centre of change, where boarding schools must develop four important factors: human resource development, information technology, culture and e-spirituality. This article is about developing smart city 3.0 and 5.0, where the resulting framework and methods can apply to Islamic boarding schools. Our research object is Islamic boarding schools, and in this place, we do community service. This article's results are the framework and the maturity level of smart Islamic boarding schools, where there are three indicators (people-culture, technology-business, implementation-global goals) and three important levels (stage 1-the foundation, stage 2-good foundation, stage 3- great foundation), which are the basis for developing a smart islamic boarding school. Moreover, this article is version 1.0, which in its development will extend to the application. An application Si-PenO (Online registration information system) completed at the Askhabul Kahfi Islamic boarding school as proof of applying the concept we created in this article. This change is needed to face globalization, and change is a good thing if it does systematically. Furthermore, this article will continue to develop in versions 2.0 and 3.0 and applications that we will implement in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract As a traditional Chinese medicinal material, Cynanchum atratum Bunge has been widely used in traditional Chinese medicine for its treatment of abscesses, acute urinary infection and hectic fever. Thus, wild resources of it have been endangered by overharvesting. Plant tissue culture technology is an important measure to protect wild resources of medicinal plants, including C. atratum. Therefore, a fast and efficient propagation system of C. atratum through axillary bud proliferation pathwayhas been established. Through axillary bud proliferation, the medium [MS+sucrose 30 g/L+Agar 7 g/L+NAA 0.2 mg/l+IBA 1.5mg/l+KT 0.5 mg/l] can effectively proliferate adventitious buds, and the induction rate was 100 %, proliferation coefficient could reach 8.56. MS medium was used to induce adventitious bud rooting, with rooting rate of 98% and no callus. The highest survival rate was 90% when the ratio of grass mud pond and orchard red soil was 1:1. To our knowledge this is the first report of rapid propagation system in C. atratum, it achieve rapid reproduction of C. atratum.

In recent decades, due to the development of science, culture, technology, and industry, the vocabulary of the Ingush language has changed, resulting in the appearance of new words and phrases that serve as names for new objects, phenomena, and concepts. Neologisms that have become units of the Ingush language are eventually included in dictionaries that reflect the current state of the vocabulary. The article deals with both the problems of modern neology and the issues related to the development and functioning of neologisms in the modern Ingush language.

In 1917 Thomas James Cobden-Sanderson threw his life’s work off the Hammersmith bridge into the river Thames. Cobden-Sanderson did this for the ideal of the Book Beautiful, a book that he thought should be made for beauty, with all constituting elements considered; a book with presence and aura due to the manner in which it is crafted. In contemporary culture technology is becoming increasingly ubiquitous and as a result we read and interact more online than we ever have before. The ease of the internet seems to make the book redundant, yet despite this the book cannot be replaced as it is an emotive physical medium for our text. The ownership of a book is the closest relationship we can have to a text, belying the widespread prevalence of digital texts. This thesis investigates the relevance of the Book Beautiful in our technological society and explores the importance of the Book Beautiful today. One distinct importance is the collecting and ownership of books, in particular the Books Irreplaceable; those so saturated with memories that we cannot part with them. The Book Beautiful facilitates this relationship and nurtures the human side of us, retaining the associations and emotions that permeate it. One hundred years ago Cobden-Sanderson believed that only the exclusive use of the human hand can make a Book Beautiful, but today there exist digital manufacturing machines that can both facilitate the production of the Book Beautiful and facilitate its growth within our communities. To use such technology and yet retain the qualities of craft is called Digital Craft, which this thesis demonstrates is not a contradiction in terms.
