In a world where urbanization is becoming more and more widespread, big figures can be seen around internal urban migration further aggravating the environmental urban situation, which results from several previous factors. This is the case with globalization, online shopping, or polluting industrial and human sources. The major solutions are centered primarily on the concern for urban mobility, the involvement of the stakeholders concerned, the optimization of journeys, the use of lanes and roads, the choice of vehicles as well as the zoning or choice of logistics locations. Sustainability is one of the primary elements of flow management; it is one of the most important pillars of the concept of "urban logistics". Indeed, the final goal goes beyond the delivery of goods, going so far as to place the environment as an essential support for urban logistics. In this paper we present a literature review on sustainable logistics, we will try to answer the following problem: Urban logistics: Where are we? To respond to this problem, we are taking the following approach: Presentation of the basic concepts, choice of articles to be used for the study which will induce us to determine the axes and the main actors, with the aim of specifying the most predominant aspects which must be treated and prioritized in order to make urban logistics more optimal.

Strangles can be an extremely debilitating and unpleasant experience for an infected horse. Diligent nursing care is important as the disease runs its course, to maximise the chances of a full and straightforward recovery. Veterinary nurses can play a critical role in strangles outbreaks by ensuring horses are in a comfortable environment within quarantine, are encouraged to eat and drink, benefit from careful abscess management and are monitored closely. Nurses also provide essential support for vets during procedures such as guttural pouch endoscopy, as well as helping to maintain strict biosecurity protocols to prevent further spread of disease.

Access to high-quality early education promotes the academic success of children with disabilities; however, they are often overlooked in mainstream programs that lack essential support services. This study aimed to examine the obstacles to supporting inclusion and providing effective early education programs for children with disabilities in Albania as perceived by the preschool personnel. Preschool personnel (n = 107) working with children (3–6 years old) in the municipality of Tirana, in Albania, completed the survey. The obstacles to supporting children with disabilities were identified as lack of knowledge, supportive techniques, specific working tools, suitable facilities, and support staff, insufficient cooperation with parents, and inadequate educational programs for children with disabilities. The contextual factors and practical implications of the study, as well as future directions for research, are discussed in this article.

Summary In Sweden, the state-sponsored language education, Swedish for immigrants (Sfi), provides language and cultural knowledge for the integration of newly arrived adult migrants in Swedish society. Sfi’s educational quality has sustained severe criticism. Through qualitative investigation of Sfi teacher work, this study aims to find out what pedagogical priorities guide the teachers’ classroom practices with linguistically and culturally diverse students. Furthermore, it aims to compare the contributions to Sfi learning environments of ethnically diverse teachers whose language experiences are different. Research into second language acquisition and native and non-native second language teachers contextualize the research aims. Bakhtin’s (1986) conception of human understanding as the meeting of two consciousnesses and García’s ideas about translanguaging in language education for adult migrants provide theoretical perspectives. Classroom observation alongside teacher focus groups generated data. Content analysis condensed the data into five essential support strategies that foreground students’ existential needs, their home languages as a learning resource, integration, learning challenge and instructional partnership between ethnically diverse teachers. Findings do not support the view that non-native language teachers are better equipped to teach second language students than their native counterparts but illuminate the unequivocal advantage of harnessing the pedagogical strengths of both teacher groups cooperatively.

In this time of pandemic where the balance of wellness dimensions is disrupted, neglecting any dimension can impact adversely on the people’s life most especially those who are deprived including their coping strategies and ultimately their survival. A key factor is to ensure that services and policies are in synched with the state of wellness dimensions. This study examined the state of wellness of the thirty purposively selected families in five slum communities in Cebu, Philippines in times of pandemic. One-on-one semi-structured interview was used in order to gather significant data. Discourse analysis was applied which brought about their tales of survival in synched with their eight wellness dimensions. The findings elaborated that the pandemic and the different mitigation measures to curb it, had taken a heavy toll on the wellness of Filipino families in slum communities. However, this did not topple their resiliency and survivability as the social services and other crisis mitigation policies and strategies afforded by the national government and private sectors, albeit insufficient, including the peculiar Filipino attributes and individual initiatives they manifested and done were instrumental. Furthermore, noting that the essential support and services provided for the families in the slum communities were not holistic enough to address the multi-faceted issues hounding their different wellness dimensions, hence, stemming some non-conforming behaviors despite strict quarantine measures. This study recommends that pandemic mitigation measures including essential support and services be reviewed and enhanced in high consideration of human wellness dimensions for them to be more inclusive and holistic.

Mutual aid groups have allowed community members to respond collectively to the COVID-19 pandemic, providing essential support to the vulnerable. While research has begun to explore the benefits of participating in these groups, there is a lack of work investigating who is likely to engage in this form of aid-giving, and what social psychological processes predict this engagement. Taking a Social Identity approach, the present study explored predictors of coordinated COVID-19 aid-giving in pre-existing volunteers. A two-wave longitudinal online survey study (N = 202) revealed participants’ volunteer role identity at T1 (pre-pandemic) positively predicted perceptions of volunteer-beneficiary intergroup closeness at T1, which in turn positively predicted community identification at T1. This in turn positively predicted coordinated COVID-19 aid-giving at T2 (3 months later). This paper therefore reveals the intra- and intergroup predictors of pandemic-related coordinated aid-giving in pre-existing volunteers. Implications for voluntary organisations and emergency voluntary aid provision are discussed.

Pillars and columns, as architectural features, first came into common use in ancient Egypt as early as 2600 BC. Their purpose then, and now, was to provide essential and lasting support for important, massive structures. As pillars and columns became more visible and essential around the world, the words took on broader meanings. The word pillar is now used to describe “a person or idea regarded as reliably providing essential support for something.” A column can be defined as “a section of a magazine or newspaper devoted to a particular subject or written by a particular person.”

The current global COVID-19 pandemic is related to an acute respiratory disease caused by a new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), highly contagious and whose evolution is still poorly understood. The high-resolution Computed Tomography (HRCT) is the most accurate technique for identifying pathogenetic finding of interstitial pneumonia. Standardized HRCT examination in COVID patients binds quantitative evaluation of healthy lung tissue performed in post-processing. In this study we present a valid tool for the Radiologist the diagnosis of Covid-19 diagnosis, an essential support in the evaluation of emergency symptomatic patients with negative NAAT, or asymptomatic patients with negative NAAT who have come into contact with positive one, in fact asymptomatic patients can also have lung lesions on CT imaging.

Students’ imperfect grasp of the target language is cited by educators as one of the main tenets and conundrums against the use of real literature in the EFL classroom. However, previous reviews have proven that children and teenagers are likely to become interested in texts of their own choice and in line with their current concerns. Hence, since encouraging them to read for pleasure and providing them with motivating and level-appropriate materials are basic requirements for success, instructors should receive essential support on how to supply their students with literary texts suitable for both their language level and interests. My intention in this article is thus two-fold. On the one hand, I aim to provide several strategies to overcome the negative attitudes against the use of real literature in the EFL classroom, which are deeply rooted in the educational community, by equipping educators with a theoretical framework that allows them to critically select the most appropriate literary materials for their students. On the other hand, my intention is to present in-service teachers with an illustrative sample of texts and activities that clearly show that authentic literature can be successfully implemented in the teaching sphere.
