This research was carried out to determine the effect of work environment, motivastion and compensation on performance through job satisfaction as an intervening variable PT BPR BKK TAMAN Perseroda, This study used porposive sampling technique where the selected sample was 50 respondents who were employees of PT BPR BKK TAMAN Perseroda, a financial services provider company, the date were analyzed throught Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), method and SMARTPLS 3 dfe to the small number of targeted respondent from result of the study, it was found that the environment, motivation, and compensation had a significant effect on job satisfaction and employee performance, beside job satisfaction had a significant effect on performance moreover the intervening varable namely job satisfaction could partially moderate exogenous variable Keyword: work environment, work motivation, compensation, performance, job satisfaction

Climate-Based Modeling and Prediction of Rice Gall Midge Populations Using Count Time Series and Machine Learning Approaches

The Asian rice gall midge (Orseolia oryzae (Wood-Mason)) is a major insect pest in rice cultivation. Therefore, development of a reliable system for the timely prediction of this insect would be a valuable tool in pest management. In this study, occurring between the period from 2013–2018: (i) gall midge populations were recorded using a light trap with an incandescent bulb, and (ii) climatological parameters (air temperature, air relative humidity, rainfall and insulations) were measured at four intensive rice cropping agroecosystems that are endemic for gall midge incidence in India. In addition, weekly cumulative trapped gall midge populations and weekly averages of climatological data were subjected to count time series (Integer-valued Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedastic—INGARCH) and machine learning (Artificial Neural Network—ANN, and Support Vector Regression—SVR) models. The empirical results revealed that the ANN with exogenous variable (ANNX) model outperformed INGRACH with exogenous variable (INGRCHX) and SVR with exogenous variable (SVRX) models in the prediction of gall midge populations in both training and testing data sets. Moreover, the Diebold–Mariano (DM) test confirmed the significant superiority of the ANNX model over INGARCHX and SVRX models in modeling and predicting rice gall midge populations. Utilizing the presented efficient early warning system based on a robust statistical model to predict the build-up of gall midge population could greatly contribute to the design and implementation of both proactive and more sustainable site-specific pest management strategies to avoid significant rice yield losses.

Identification of Dynamical Systems Through the Structure of Auto-regression With Exogenous Variable by Decreasing Gradient and Least Squares

In this article was made the identification of dynamic systems of first and second order more common in electronics such as low and high pass filters of the first order, pass-band filter and direct current motor through the structure of auto-regression with exogenous variable. The proposed dynamical systems are initially modeled by a continuous-time transfer function using physical laws. Subsequently, a step entry signal was applied and the data for the identification process was recorded in discrete time. The estimation of parameters was performed with the method of decreasing gradient and least squares. It was obtained as a result that the least squares method could not find a model for the first-order high-pass filter, but the decreasing grade method allowed to model all the proposed systems.

The Effect of Promotion on the Decision to Choose a Higher Education through the Brand Image of Education

Increasingly fierce competition from universities in getting new students requires universities to carry out marketing activities well, one of which is through promotion and formation of a good college image to influence the decisions of prospective new students in choosing a university. This research uses quantitative research, which consists of promotion variable (X1) as an exogenous variable, education image (Y1) as intervening variable, and decision to choose university (Y2) as an exogenous variable. This study uses primary data. It is obtained directly from respondents through questionnaires that have been tested for validity and reliability tests for each question item or statement that will be submitted to respondents. Data analysis technique to test the relationship between variables using structural equation modelling (SEM) using AMOS25. The sample of this study was 148 students of the Tarbiyah in an Institute. This study indicates that sales have a significant effect on choosing a college, and the image of education significantly affects college decisions. At the same time, the primary outcome variable can mediate the promotional education image variable on the decision to choose a college.

Informational role of futures volume for spot volatility

Purpose The paper aims to explore the informational role of futures volume in the simultaneous relationship between option volume and spot volatility to forecast the volatility of the underlying asset. Design/methodology/approach The generalized method of moments is used to estimate the simultaneous equations of endogeneity between spot volatility and option volume. Futures volume is specified as an exogenous variable in both legs of the estimation of simultaneous equations. However, the future volume is also tested as a dependent variable to prove preference for investment by informed investors in futures along with options. Findings The result indicates that futures volume has a significant association with the bi-directional simultaneous equation estimation between spot volatility and option volume. Moreover, the result of this paper proves that informed investors also prefer futures markets over the spot market. However, there is no change observed in the relationship between option volume and spot volatility due to either call or put options or moneyness. Originality/value The possible role of futures volume in the simultaneous equations between spot volatility and option volume has not yet been researched. This paper pioneers in demonstrating that futures volume is an exogenous variable in the simultaneous equation modeling between spot volatility and option volume. Moreover, in the contemporaneous as well as predictive relationships between spot volatility and option volume, futures volume as an exogenous variable is significant in forecasting spot volatility. In addition to this, the current paper uniquely provides evidence of investment in futures also over the spot market by informed investors.

Appraising the role of age among senior entrepreneurial intentions. European analysis based on HDI

Purpose The research aims to examine the underlying factors of entrepreneurial intentions among seniors. In this vein, it evaluates the role of social context proxied by the human development index (HDI) along with individual characteristics towards these initiatives. Emerging economies deliver great potential for income generation swiftly approaching the standards of their developed counterparts. Their present ageing trends severely threaten growth prospects because of workforce withering. European insights will help anticipating constraints through alternative models of human capital allocation. Design/methodology/approach Four logistic regressions were run to address hypotheses in test, relying upon the global entrepreneurship monitor – adult population survey. Estimations include 20,386 individuals from database and 21 European Union countries. Ex-post robustness checks corroborate the global significance of the proposed model. Findings Empirical findings reinforce the importance of the macroeconomic context among senior endeavours and the non-linearities in terms of the age effect. Moreover, context can help eroding gender gaps in this field and refine the opportunity perception These results go in line with the literature and extend the importance of promoting a favourable ecosystem. Promotion of senior endeavours must consider smart policy packages encompassing the individual singularities as this age range will be too important to be wasted. Senior entrepreneurs are key to the latent job market crisis, needing to be encouraged through positive discrimination. Research limitations/implications Originally, by incorporating an exogenous variable encompassing the role of the entrepreneurial context, this study contributes academically to evaluating the determinants of entrepreneurial activity among the elderly. In addition, the development of cohorts highlights the specific importance of individual characteristics in entrepreneurial propensity in each context. The heterogenous results proves the ineffectiveness of “one sizes fits all” policies. Practical implications This research reinforces extant literature, notwithstanding the empirical refinements implemented brought up two additional perspectives: complementing previous towards the relevance of HDI cohorts along with the non-linearities of the effect of age. Learning from the European context and acknowledging efficacy of policy instruments will avoid serendipitous actions or failures, enhancing promising ecosystems such as emerging economies. Originality/value The study academically contributes to the appraisal of the determinants of entrepreneurial activity among seniors, thus, in an original way, by incorporating an exogenous variable to appraise the role of the context. Development cohorts evidence the existence of singularities in entrepreneurial propensity and individual characteristics according to their levels, such that policy actions should consider their differences.

Co-branding of compass shoes on social networks

Today's competition requires each product to develop a co-branding strategy in reaching the market, especially in the digital era where social networking is a space to build brand identities. So this research was conducted to find out how to co-brand Compass Shoes on social networks. To find out how much influence the co-branding variable has on social networks, seen from the dimensions of social networks by measuring social networks—using a quantitative-explanatory methodology, a data collection using a random questionnaire with a total of 398 respondents who meet the characteristics of the sample. The results of this study have a hypothesis where the exogenous variable, namely co-branding, has a significant effect on the endogenous variable, namely social networking. Creating co-branding, of course, must have a strong strategy in innovation and be able to understand consumer desires by providing collaboration space to build a shared identity.

Coordinated financial statements: what-is, what-if and how-much questions

PurposeThis paper aims to use coordinated financial statements' system properties that include exogenous and endogenous variables to answer important questions. These questions include the following: What is the financial condition of the firm? What if there is a change in the firm's exogenous variable(s) – how will the financial condition of the firm change? And, how much of a change in the firm's exogenous variable(s) is required for the firm to reach its financial goal(s)?Design/methodology/approachThis paper uses coordinated financial statements to construct solvency, profitability, efficiency, liquidity and leverage (SPELL) ratios to answer the question: what is the financial condition of the firm? It answers what-if questions by changing an exogenous variable(s) and recalculating SPELL ratios. It answers how-much questions by using Excel's Goal Seek algorithm to find the required change in an exogenous variable to reach a firm's goal.FindingsThe authors find that coordinated financial statements' system properties can be used to answer important what-is, what-if and how-much questions about the firm.Research limitations/implicationsThe usefulness of coordinated financial statements' system properties to answer what-is, what-if and how-much questions about the firm depends – mostly on the accuracy of exogenous data used to represent the firm's external financial environment. Furthermore, the usefulness of what-if and how-much analysis depends on how appropriate the changes are in exogenous variables used to represent alternative scenarios.Practical implicationsUsing coordinated financial statements' system properties to answer what-is, what-if and how-much questions provides the firm's financial manager the tools to not only asses the firm's current financial condition but also to assess its ability to respond to opportunities and threats posed by future scenarios.Social implicationsThe ability to assess the financial condition of a firm and to assess its strengths and weaknesses in key to making sound financial decisions. In addition, the consistency imposed on coordinated financial statements makes it an effective tool for discovering errors in its data.Originality/valueThe authors know of no similar work.
